QUINLAN, Paul D.
Mr. Quinlan is a full professor of history at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island,
where he has been teaching East European and Russian history for over thirty years. He is also a
long-time Center Associate at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard
University. His specific field of research is modern Romanian and Moldovan history and politics.
He also has a strong background in East European and Russian history.
Mr. Quinlan also authored four books as well as published numerous articles in scholarly
journals on Moldova and Romania. Three of his more recent articles on Moldova are “Moldova
under Lucinschi,” and “Back to the Future: An Overview of Moldova under Voronin,” published
in Demokratizatsiya, and “A Foot in Both Camps: Moldova and the Transnistrian Conundrum
from the Kozak Memorandum,” published in the East European Quarterly. He received his Ph.D.
from Boston College, where he did a doctoral thesis under Professor Radu Florescu.
SENGUPTA, Rakesh
Mr. holds a Master degree in Chemistry from University of Calcutta, India. Currently he is
pursuing Ph.D. in Cognitive Science at Center for Neural and Cognitive Science, University of
Hyderabad, India and a visiting research scholar at Center for Mind/Brain Sciences (CiMec),
University of Trento, Italy. Some of his past work includes presenting a poster on Quantum
Molecular Dynamics in Theoretical Chemistry Symposium, India (2006), working as Experience
Designer in Navaraga Information Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (2008-2009), working as research
assistant and co-ordinator of Mission Project for Virtual Labs in International Institute of
Information Technology, Hyderabad (2009-2011). His current interests are Computational and
Cognitive Neuroscience, Philosophy of Science, History of Ideas, Philosophy of Mind, Rational
and Social Choice Theory.
SYED, Damsaz Ali
Received a M.A. degree in History at the University of Kashmir in 2006. At present he is
pursuing a Ph.D. program in history through the faculty of School of Social Sciences at Indira
Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. His main area of research is Kashmiri history; he
published several papers in this field. Mr. Syed has a command of the Urdu, Kashmiri, English,
and German languages.
