Families
At every age and across every generation,
FEGS’ comprehensive, community-based
family services support the strength and
resilience of the whole family, reaching nearly
19,000 people each year.
As the Jewish Family Services agency on Long
Island and also providing services in New York
City, we work in partnership with gateway
institutions— synagogues, community centers,
healthcare providers, schools and other
organizations— to identify and reach out
to those most vulnerable and serve them within
their own neighborhoods and natural networks.

Enriched by an extensive volunteer network,
FEGS staff provide counseling, case management,
community education, professional training, and
referral services that help parents learn how to
access benefits and advocate for children with
special needs; help seniors and elderly individuals
stay safely at home and in their community;
educate and mentor youth about bullying,
personal and family relationships, trauma,
eating disorders and more; assist victims of
domestic violence to achieve safety and economic
stability; help families in financial crisis with
food, clothing and emergency assistance; guide
individuals as they navigate the health care
system; and support families facing life-limiting
or end-of-life illness.
In these uncertain times, FEGS provides the
services and supports that help individuals
and families move out of crisis, attain greater
self-sufficiency, cope with trauma and illness
and have an enriched quality of life.
