Engaging the entire community through
volunteer opportunities, internships and
the arts enhances FEGS’ capacity to
deliver vitally needed services for New Yorkers.
More than 4,200 people donated their time and
professional and personal skills to FEGS last
year. Volunteers in New York City and Long
Island helped prepare people for work, provided
financial counseling, delivered food to families,
provided companionship to seniors, mentored
youth, taught literacy classes, planted gardens,
operated the Suited for Work boutique to provide
job seekers business attire, and so much more.
Tens of thousands of hours, in addition to goods
and services with a value in excess of several
million dollars, are contributed annually by
volunteers.
FEGS’ renowned Susan R. Knafel Student
Internship Program continues to provide
supervised clinical and business internships
to hundreds of undergraduate and graduate
students from more than 168 colleges and
universities throughout the tri-state area.
Through FEGS’ Haym Salomon Division of
the Arts, innovative models of performance and
visual arts programming create opportunities
INSPIRING SUCCESS
for individuals of all ages, abilities and
disabilities to emerge as artists — participating
in performances, workshops, exhibits and other
activities in theater, music, visual arts and
creative writing.
Bringing people of all ages together to share
their knowledge, skills and experiences, through
volunteering and the performing and visual arts,
strengthens FEGS and the broader community.
