GENERAL INFORMATION<br />
Katke Golf Course (est. 1974) – This course offers 21-holes of championship golf. The original 18-holes<br />
is a par 72 measuring 6,916 yards from the Black tees, 6,377 from the Crimson tees, 5,830 from the<br />
Silver tees and 4,845 from the Gold tees. Katke also features a "Family Tee" for juniors and new golfers.<br />
The D.O.G. Tee or Developing Original Golfers Tee allows new golfers the ability to play with more<br />
experienced players.<br />
Katke's award winning practice facility features three practice holes (#19, #20 and #21), 100,000 square<br />
feet of natural grass teeing space, six target greens, a short game area for pitching, chipping and bunker<br />
play and multiple putting greens.<br />
The Katke Clubhouse sits atop the highest point in Mecosta County with excellent views to the west and<br />
of the FSU Campus. The clubhouse provides full-service amenities including a fully stocked Golf Pro<br />
Shop, men's and women's locker rooms, Founders Grill which features a wide variety of food and<br />
beverage options, and a Multi-Purpose Class Room with seating for up to 75 guests, perfect for business<br />
meetings or small parties.<br />
A PGA Professional Staff is available daily providing all of the needed services for golf outing events,<br />
tournament needs, golf instruction and clinics, and custom club fitting.<br />
The golf course is conveniently located adjacent to the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center.<br />
McKessy House (1989) - McKessy House, resembling an Old English cottage on Cedar Street, north of<br />
Williams Auditorium, was purchased by <strong>Ferris</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> in 1989 as a result of a generous gift from<br />
Gerald McKessy, a 1929 graduate of <strong>Ferris</strong>’s college-preparatory program who went on to graduate from<br />
the Detroit College of Law in 1933. Mr. McKessy was a charter member of the Presidents Club, a<br />
member of the Phoenix Society, a founding father of the Alumni Foundation, a 12-year member of the<br />
Board of Directors of the Alumni Association and a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award in<br />
1971 for the generous donation of his time and talents to <strong>Ferris</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Mr. McKessy donated<br />
stock, the proceeds of which were used to buy the house, barn and two acres that is now utilized as<br />
parking and additional Arts and Sciences classroom space. Mr. McKessy’s gift also made it possible to<br />
remodel the house which is currently occupied by the Division of Governmental Relations and General<br />
Counsel. This division is responsible for governmental and community relations, legal affairs, equal<br />
opportunity, and labor relations.<br />
