<strong>Filoli</strong> is pleased to extend the opportunity for artists<br />
and photographers to have access to the gardens after<br />
hours. Registration is limited to artists who work<br />
with watercolor, pen, pencil, charcoal, pastels and<br />
photography. No oils or acrylics, please. Space is<br />
limited; pre-registration is recommended.<br />
SPECIAL Artist Access - Nature Photography<br />

This is a rare opportunity for inspiring photographers<br />
to capture <strong>Filoli</strong>’s outback in the light of the setting<br />
sun. Trained Nature Education Docents will guide<br />
small groups on a nature hike to ideal locations for<br />
photography. Because this is a nature hike dress<br />
appropriately: layered clothes, comfortable shoes.<br />
Please, no tripods.<br />
Watercolor Workshop: Masking and<br />
Glazing Techniques<br />

If you want to use color in a fun exciting way, this is the<br />
workshop you’ve been waiting for. Students will learn<br />
masking and glazing techniques which help control the<br />
tones and qualities of color in their artwork. This class<br />
will include many demonstrations and fun exercises<br />
to build your masking and glazing knowledge and<br />
experience. Guy is a fun, dynamic instructor, so put on<br />
your creative hat, roll up your sleeves and get ready for<br />
a jam-packed workshop of discovery.<br />

Do you have some calligraphy experience and wish to hone<br />
those skills, learn how to apply those skills to projects? If<br />
so, this is the workshop for you. Students will be taught<br />
how to design and create invitations and announcements,<br />
allowing them to add that personal touch and flare when<br />
celebrating special events. A materials list will be sent<br />
upon registration.<br />

Have you ever brought in a fresh<br />
cut bouquet of flowers and thought<br />
if only I could paint or draw this.<br />
Fresh arrangements of fall flowers and fruits found at <strong>Filoli</strong><br />
will be the subject of this two-day workshop. Students can<br />
also bring their own container and learn how to compose<br />
an arrangement. Class will begin with a demonstration<br />
and exploration of composition and design with the use<br />
of color, highlighting placement and design, followed by<br />
painting or drawing, emphasizing the use of lighting and<br />
shadows for depth and composition. Students should<br />
have some painting experience.<br />

Discover the popular French mosaic technique of breaking<br />
old china or tile and re-assembling them onto table tops,<br />
pottery, stepping stones or any durable smooth surface to<br />
create a unique and colorful work of art. In this one-day<br />
workshop, you will learn the entire process. Participants<br />
will complete two garden stepping stones in class. A<br />
supplies list will be provided upon registration.
