To map order items from dealer management systems to services in asanetwork it is necessary to have a
manufacturer independent definition of services and their properties. For the user of asanetwork enabled
products it would be desirable to have a common user interface for operation and selection of orders.
This document describes the binding guidelines for asanetwork compatible implementations of services
and their related user interface.
2 Services in asanetwork
2.1 Guidelines for services
Technical documentation
Edition
1.5
Work cycle and test flow should be subdivided as necessary and useful: not test lane but side slip,
suspension, brake ...
Legal inspections are always realised as a separate service: e.g. exhaust gas test or brake test. These
services generally are not subdivided further.
Every service has to generate a clear and useful result: starting with e.g. test passed up to complex
protocols. If a service provides results for several areas you should check, if it’s possible to subdivide
this service into smaller parts.
2.2 System of service names
A service is characterised by a 10-character alphanumeric identifier: a) 5 characters for the manufacturer
and b) 5 characters assigned freely for the type of service.
2.2.1 Manufacturer part of the service name
If the service implements one of the following defined asanetwork services (with a data format based on
XML for results) the manufacturer name is strictly AWNTX for test- and measurement equipment and
AWNDX for data providers. If this criteria is not true the original manufacturer name (like MAHA_, BOSCH
or SIEME) has to be used. The customer orders service is always implemented using the original manufacturer
name (e.g. BOSCH00000).
AWNTX asanetwork defined service with XML results
AWNIX asanetwork defined for vehicle identification using a XML Protocol
AWNDX asanetwork defined data providers with XML data
2.2.2 Type of service
Type of service: 2 characters as abbreviation of the test procedure or object, 3 characters assigned freely
(see chapter ). The first service in a group of the same type is always 000; if the procedure is manufacturer
specific, the first character should be equal to the manufacturer, e.g. V for Volkswagen. If it is necessary
to subdivide the service you should use increments of 10. If the service is used to verify a repair the
last character is xx9.
If a manufacturer offers a service of a specific type, the general service 000 must always be present. All further
subdivisions are optional.
Work cycles (processes) delivering more than one test results need to transmit the matching result for the
order item. Other results may be sent using a commonly used summary service. This service is not approved
for order items.
Example 1: On a test lane a break test order is selected. The operator performs a break test, a side slip test
and a suspension test. The test results transmitted for the selected order position only contains the brake
test results. The summary service is used for transmission of break test, side slip and a suspension test
Example 2: On a test lane a head light test order is selected. The operator performs a break test, a side slip
test and a suspension test. The test results transmitted for the selected order position are empty because a
head light test was not done. The summary service is used for transmission of break test, side slip and a
suspension test results.
