UNITAPE
rapidcell
A universal paper based adhesive tape for permanent, airtight
and durable bonds indoors. It can be used to make durable
airtight seals of interior joints in wood-based panels (smooth
OSB, plywood). It can also be employed to connect overlapping
joints of Intelligent vapor membranes, PE-,PA-, PP-, Aluminum
foils on the interior of a building. Additional substrates are
sanded or sealed wood, glass, plastics and metals.
It is paper based and hand tear-able.
Technical properties
• Adhesion by age-resistant, solvent-and plasticizer-free acrylic - waterproof
• Minimum application temp: 15 Fº
• Bonding withstands temperatures between -40 Fº and 194 Fº
• Shelf live: 24 months (dry and cool)
• Very low VOC content
• Color: light blue
Roll width 2-3/8” (60mm)
Roll length 98’-5”(30mm)
Substrates
UNI TAPE is ideal to make durable airtight seals (without primer) of interior joints in woodbased
panels (smooth OSB, plywood).
It can be used as well to adhere overlapping joints of Intelligent vapor membranes, PE-,PA-
, PP-, Aluminum foils on the interior of a building.
Additional substrates are sanded or sealed wood, glass, plastics and metals.
The best performance of adhesion is achieved with high quality intelligent vapor
membranes (INTELLO, DB) and wood-based products (ie OSB). It is recommended to verify
the suitability of a substrate with an adhesion test. The crucial property of a quality
substrate is the surface tension, it should be at least 40 dyn. to provide a sufficiently strong
bond for vapor or airtight purposes.
• For a permanent connection, the substrates should be firm/taut, dry, smooth, and
free of dust, silicone and grease.
• Clean surfaces of sawdust. If necessary. wipe with a brush.
• Adhesion to frozen suffices is not possible
• Surfaces must be suitable for permanent bonding with UNIT TAPE. If in doubt, an
adhesion tests is recommended to verify proper performance and durability of the
bond.
Adhesion of materials
• Vapor membranes have to be mechanically attached (eg, staples). If necessary the
seams can be clamped with wood (ie 1x2s)
• For a permanent connection, the substrates should be firm/taut, dry, smooth, and
free of dust, silicone and grease.
• The membranes should be free of creases and/or folds.
• UNITAPE should be centered on the joint. Take the release paper off in sections and
press tape firmly to the substrate.
• The decisive factor of final adhesion strength is the pressure exerted, not the duration
of time the pressure is exerted. To make sure to adequate pressure is applied the
Pro-Clima PRESSFIX can be used. It assures that a uniform pressure will be applied
that leads to the best adhesive strength, while saving time and energy
• At the end of the joint to be sealed, tear off the tape by hand or cut with a knife
• Within 24 hours, depending on the substrate, the final adhesion strength is achieved.
During this time no tension should be exerted on the adhesive.
• When sealing/joining membranes before blowing in insulation (ie cellulose), counterbattens
(minimum every 20”) need to be added. Additionally all perpendicular taped
seams need a support batten as well, to prevent permanent tension to be exerted to
the taped joint
• Doesn’t lose adhesion even in high humidity construction environments (during
stucco/plaster work). However, it is recommended to lower the indoor humidity as
soon as possible by ventilation/dehumidification.
• The tape can easily be torn by hand without additional tools
