Several buildings included in the scope of work did not exist at the time of the survey and are Iisled<br />

Site plans reflect a structure’s location on the date it was surveyed. Several Range and Remote area<br />
structures were relocated after their suwey date. Buildings suweyed prior to the stafl of the October<br />
1991 facility-wide sutvey which have been subsequently destroyed are included on the site plans.<br />
Approximately 552 buildings and stnmtures not included in the original scope of work were identified as<br />
havirlg suspect asbestos-containing materials during a drive-by reconnaissance of the entire <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Ord</strong><br />
property. Many of the structures identified were not included in a building inventory maintained by the<br />
Real Prope~ branch of the Directorate of Engineering and Housing (DEI-1). These additional structures<br />
were either unnumbered or had numbers assigned to them by the Directorate of Logistics (DOL).<br />
Unnumbered buildings were assigned a “DEI” number. The locations of the DOL and DEI numbered<br />
structures are listed in Table 5. Structures such as grease racks and drainage fields that are included in<br />
the Real Property inventory of buildings were initially surveyed to determine the likelihood of asbestoscontaining<br />
materials being present in these structures. Once it was determined that these structures<br />
contained no suspect materials, they were eliminated from the field investigation, Structures with<br />
suspect materials were suweyed and are included in the Building Information section of this repoti.<br />
The following building numbers were listed on individual “Hand Receipt” inventories maintained by Real<br />
Property. After contact was made with the individual responsible for each of the buildings and/or an<br />
efforl to physically locate the buildings failed, it was determined that these buildings do not exist.<br />

There were several Remote area structures sumeyed in which no suspect asbestos-containing<br />
materials were obse~ed. Samples were not collected in these stmctures. In addition, many Remote<br />
and Contonement area structures sutveyed had roofs composed of materials (metal, wood, or dirt) in<br />
which no suspect asbestos-containing materials were obsemed. See Table 2 later in this section for a<br />
listing of structures in which no asbestos-cmtaining materials were detected.<br />
