Graduations at Glasgow Caledonian University
take place in the nearby setting of the Royal
Concert Hall. This is a special occasion for
students, their family, friends and colleagues who
come to share in their success.
Graduation ceremonies are presided over by the
University’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor
Pamela Gillies, and take place twice a year in July and
November. Around 4,500 students are capped each year
alongside Honorary Graduates. In the past these have
included Dr Nelson Mandela, Princess Muna of Jordan
and Duncan Bannatyne.
Although graduation may mark the end of your
studies, it does not mark the end of your relationship
with the University and the friends you made there. As
an alumnus of Glasgow Caledonian, you will be joining
a long and distinguished list of people including MSP’s,
entrepreneurs, company chief executives, managing
directors and an Olympic Gold Medallist.
The Glasgow Caledonian alumni relations team helps
graduates keep in touch with the university and the
people you met there. The team co-ordinates a number
of activities to maintain this link, including; the twice
yearly magazine Caledonian+, e-newsletters, reunions,
a service for tracing old friends and access to university
facilities like the library. Many of our alumni engage with
current students by guest lecturing, mentoring and
providing work experience, they also provide
testimonials on how life at Glasgow Caledonian has
influenced their careers to encourage potential students
to join our growing family. The university is very proud of
its graduates and enjoys watching your progress, our
Alumni Achievement Awards celebrates graduates
successes in their personal and professional life.
We hope you will remain as interested in the
university’s evolution throughout your life as we are in
yours, please stay in touch and keep us updated.
Afterall, our graduates are the university’s best possible
ambassadors.
