A Message
from the President & Chair
The Broward Alliance and its partners have worked together to expand and diversify
Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County’s economy by envisioning a great economic
future and then creating it. Over the years, Broward County has grown from a community
known for its world-class beaches to one known as a world-class business destination.
Rated number 1 in the nation for entrepreneurial activity by the Kauffman Index, the
number 2 best area among large population centers for doing business by Inc. Magazine
and the number 3 best market for small businesses according to an American City Business
Journals study, our business climate has been recognized as one of the best in the nation.
The Broward Alliance has had a strong record of success, and in just the last five years,
directly assisted more than 1,800 companies, resulting in the creation of more than 8,000
new jobs, the retention of over 7,500 jobs and the generation of more than $550 million
in capital investment in Broward County. In the past two years, The Broward Alliance
has been recognized as a leader in economic development by the Florida Economic
Development Council and Business Retention and Expansion International, winning
several best of class awards. Rest assured, we are not content to rest on past successes.
This year, The Broward Alliance embarked on an exciting three-year economic development
initiative called Excellerate Broward. Through this innovative program, top leaders have
come together to work diligently in three ways to continue to expand and diversify
Broward’s economy by (1) focusing on new business attraction and existing company
growth initiatives, (2) promoting a world-class brand and (3) uniting our community and
business leaders to ensure even greater success in the future.
The Broward Alliance
Our business development program is well positioned to cultivate inbound economic
investment, focusing on corporate and regional headquarters attraction and targeted
industry clusters, while aggressively reaching out to “grow our own” local companies.
We are promoting an outstanding brand that sets Broward County apart as a premier
global business location. Finally, our region’s most experienced business leaders and our
next generation of leadership are coming together to continue to promote a pro-business
environment that will lead to even more economic success.
Whether you are a business looking to locate or grow in Broward County, or a business or
community leader looking to help strengthen and diversify our economy, we invite you
to call on us. Together we will not only see a bright future for our region, but we will work
together to create it.
