There are 66 projects documented from four continents and 15 countries 5-104
registered on the Global-Balance website.
1. Introduction

Reconciliation is a basic and initial mode upon which enduring peace and coexistence among men
and nation-states can be achieved. On dealing with the past or present, reconciliation is an essential
step towards achieving political and socio-economic justice. People of all cultures have proved this
through the ages, as they have utilized this method in developing unique strategies and rituals in
overcoming conflicts and differences.
Reconciliation does not only play an important role in international, regional and national levels, but
also on family and personal levels. More often than not, successful reconciliation paves the way for a
new beginning in human relations.
The S.E.R. Foundation
The S.E.R. Foundation is an NGO with consultative status at the UN ECOSOC (Economic and Social
Council), also associated with the UN DPI (Department for Public Information). One of its global
commitments is to foster reconciliation and peace.

Einladung zum Weiterführen von Aussöhnung
im Jahre 2010

Die S.E.R. Stiftung lädt mit dieser Initiative ein, Aussöhnungsprozesse im Sinne des Internationalen Jahres der
Aussöhnung 2009 der Vereinten Nationen weiterzuführen und neu aufzunehmen.
Wir rufen weltweit Regierungen, NGO’s, Medien, Institutionen und Privatpersonen auf, sich auch in
diesem Jahr mit Aktivitäten aus sämtlichen Lebensbereichen wie Kultur, Soziales und Bildung zu
beteiligen.

Aussöhnung als innere Haltung
Aussöhnung ist ein erster Schritt auf dem Weg zu Frieden, Ordnung und Gerechtigkeit. Aussöhnung beginnt in
uns selbst als eine persönliche, subjektive Erfahrung. Im Bewusstsein um den Wert der Aussöhnung können wir
mit Weitsicht handeln, verbindend und integrierend wirken und eine Synthese zwischen vermeintlichen
Gegensätzen und Konflikten finden.
Das Ziel ist, ein weltweit wachsendes Netzwerk für ein Leben in Würde und Frieden für die gesamte
Menschheit aufzubauen.

This initiative of the S.E.R. Foundation is a call for the continuation of the UN International Reconciliation Year
2009.
We cordially invite governments, NGOs, media, institutions and individuals from all over the world to
participate with activities on all levels of cultural, social and educational fields.
Your Reconciliation initiative
These reconciliation projects may concern different fields of endeavour. The concept and the conduct of the
same, as well as the duration, are up to the initiator. Please be inspired by the registered and documented
reconciliation projects 2009, available on the homepage of www.global-balance.org.
Reconciliation as a state of mind
Reconciliation is a first step towards peace, order and justice. It begins within oneself as a personal subjective
experience. The awareness of the value of reconciliation enables us to act with foresight, to operate connectively
and integratively, and to find a synthesis between supposed contradictions and conflicts.
The aim is to build a growing global network for a life in dignity and peace for all mankind.
The S.E.R. Foundation
The S.E.R. Foundation is an NGO with advisory status at the UN ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council), also
associated with the UN DPI (Department for Public Information). One of its global commitments is to foster
reconciliation and peace.

Project Reports 2010
1. Concert de jubilé: 20 e anniversaire de l’Ecole de Violon Suisse
Méthode Suzuki Bienne
Musique-Langue universelle
Ce concert de jubilé, l’apogée de plusieurs mois de préparation présente une soixantaine de jeunes
musiciens violonistes, altistes, violoncellistes, pianistes et flûtistes. L’originalité de ce concert consiste
en la participation de très jeunes enfants dès 3 ans, d’adolescents ainsi que de jeunes musiciens
professionnels. Tous élèves ou anciens élèves de l’Ecole de Violon Méthode Suzuki de Bienne, ils ont
baigné dès leur plus jeune âge dans un environnement musical stimulant créé par les leçons de
groupe, les leçons privées, les concerts et surtout favorisé par l’attitude positive et encourageante des
parents et du professeur.
Le programme du concert présente plusieurs facettes de la vie musicale de l’école. En effet, en plus
de la formation classique, l’école offre aux élèves des ateliers de musique folklorique et de jazz, un
cours d’orchestre et de nombreux échanges, tournées de concerts, rencontres musicales nationales
et internationales. Ainsi, la suite roumaine réunit les musiciens dans une oeuvre de musique
folklorique, puis des oeuvres du grand répertoire classique sont interprétées par la Camerata Suzuki
Suisse, orchestre de jeunes qui réunit les élèves avancés de l’école. Puis, dans la dernière partie du
programme, le spectateur voit monter sur scène toujours plus d’enfants et toujours plus jeunes, pour
terminer avec les variations de S. Suzuki, qui représentent en quelque sorte « la signature » d’un
concert « Suzuki ».
C’est cette réunion autour de la musique, à Bienne, sur la frontière linguistique française-allemande -
d’enfants, de jeunes musiciens accomplis ou déjà professionnels, du premier élève et du plus jeune
élève de l’école, tous accompagnés par leur famille - qui représente le but ultime de ce concert et de
l’école. En effet, cette dernière propose non seulement la possibilité d’acquérir une formation
exceptionnelle, mais attache aussi beaucoup d’importance au développement de l’être dans sa
totalité. Par la musique, langue universelle par excellence,l’ouverture d’esprit, la sensibilité à la
beauté, la communication entre les êtres humains sont favorisées. Le futur de notre planète dépend
de ces qualités humaines développées dans les jeunes générations. Qu’elles puissent renforcer la
tolérance envers les autres, la qualité des relations au sein des familles comme les relations
nationales ou internationales, qu’elles aident à la suppression des barrières pour laisser place aux
symphonies de couleurs, de joie et d’amitié.

3. Reclaiming Muthurwa Dallas Social Hall Kenya
Reclaiming,renovating and equipping Muthurwa Social Hall into state of the art recreational facility to
serve over 100,000 people from Eastlands of Nairobi in ICT and sports amenities.The facility is
located within the new Multimilion Muthurwa Market and Bus terminus,the facility is equivalent to a 6
sized class room space,with a presidential directive to be a recreational facility hence the Local
Government-Nairobi City Council wants to change its user to commercial facility.We have been
instrumental in reclaiming the facility through letter writings,petitions,newspaper commentary and
demonstration,we are currently trying to access the court for justice we are fund raising for the same
initiative.
Having attempted to submit our project in 2009 Reconciliation year,we received a marvelous
certificate of participation, hence we are still pushing the City Council of Nairobi to give the community
their recreational facility for sports and education amenities that have a major potential in peace and
reconciliation strategies.

5. Dialog - Kunst des Denkens Switzerland

Dialog lässt sich als eine "Kunst gemeinsamen Denkens" üben und als Disziplin erlernen.
Wenn wir alte Muster des Denkens, des Sprechens und Hörens erkennen und loslassen, kann Raum
entstehen für tieferes Verstehen. Es geht darum, subtile Kommunikationsfallen aufzuspüren und sich
mit dialogischen Kernfähigkeiten zu beschäftigen.
Lernen findet im Dialog prozessorientiert statt, das gemeinsame Erkunden und Reflektieren des
Prozesses stehen im Vordergrund.

Dialogue can be practised as an Art of joint Thinking and learnt as a discipline.
When we recognize and release old patterns of thinking, speaking and listening, then a space for
deeper understanding can emerge and grow. The point is to detect subtle communication traps and to
deal with dialogical core capabilities.
Learning in dialogue takes place on a process oriented basis; the focus is on the joint exploration and
reflection of the process.

6. Eight UN Millennium Goal Repatternings USA

The process of Resonance Repatterning, a process that works with consciousness science, universal
healing disciplines and natural modalities was the basis of this project. Each session worked with the
outlines of the Millennium Goal Promise and United Nations Reports detailing specific needs from

Sessions began with focus questionnaires in which participants listed issues and intentions for positive
change based on information from above reports. The project included teleconferences, recordings
and positive actions when they checked in for taking further steps personally and globally.

Below are the recordings for each session with sample summaries. The last recording is an example
of a Positive Action following a session.
1. Environmental Sustainability on Earth Day
In the Earth Day Repatterning on April 22nd, an important issue came to the forefront in the journey to
heal ourselves and our mother Earth. A Family Systems modality spoke of taking our mother and
seeing our father giving us permission to do so. In this case, mother was the land we live on in our
respective countries. Father was the representative of the country where we live. What is important
about this is the underlying message of permission to take the energy of the Earth to be energized by
it, and also to become as one with it. When we take energy from our parents, we are better able to
make use of our own life energy through accessing the wisdom of previous family patterns and
lessons. In this repatterning we were asked to take both of our parents. Father, in this repatterning,
represented leadership, laws, rules and the horizon of what may come with our actions and dedication
in alignment with the wisdom of our system. When you take your mother and father you are able to
access both the wisdom and lessons. It also creates the opportunity to turn towards life to do
something good with this information.

4. Universal Education: May 24, 2010 at 5 pm, Pacific on Education Day
The Universal Education Session worked with a Geometric Frequency Repatterning. It included

5. End Poverty and Hunger on End Poverty Day
This session was a Positive Resistance Repatterning to help expand love and bonding in
groups. The underlying work dealt with “the hurt child” stance that was undermining the ability
to create authorship and JOY. The embodiment of the hurt child limits the ability to step into
the conversation where opportunities for shared ideas, solutions, being heard and understood
becomes the potential. This work also spoke to the need for grounding our energy instead of
discharging it in a life depleting way that harms ourselves and others. We now resonate with
“What we do to others, we do to ourselves. The Earth is a living being. We are all related.”

addressed issues with children we live with. This can be an inherited pattern of our ancestors.

our ancestor’s treatment of children.

8. Einklang – Quelle der Kraft Germany
Alle ca. 25 Einklang Seminare im Jahr 2010 waren dem Thema „Einklang finden mit sich selbst,
mit der Natur und mit den Mitmenschen“ gewidmet. Durch Stimmarbeit, Entspannungsübungen,
Körperarbeit und Meditation konnten die Teilnehmer die heilsame Erfahrung von Aussöhnung mit
sich selbst machen und in Verbindung mit dem eigenen heilen Kern kommen. Aus diesem inneren
Raum von Ruhe und Frieden heraus wurde ein Bewusstsein für die Zusammengehörigkeit der
einen großen Menschenfamilie geweckt.
Mit Gesängen, Texten und Gebeten wurde für
Frieden, Ordnung und Gerechtigkeit weltweit
gebetet. Mit einem gestärkten Bewusstsein
für die Wichtigkeit von Aussöhnung und
Frieden kehrten die Teilnehmer der Seminare
in den Alltag zurück.

All 25 Harmony seminars in 2010 were dedicated to the subject of finding harmony with oneself,
with nature and the fellow men.
Through voice exercises, relaxation practices,
body work and meditation the participants were
able to experience reconciliation with themselves
and get in touch with their inner healthy core.
From this inner space of calm and peace an
awareness of the unity with the one great
human family emerged.
With songs, texts and prayers, a call was sent out
for peace, order and justice throughout the world.
The seminar participants of the seminars returned to their everyday life with an increased
awareness for the importance of reconciliation and peace.

2009/2010: UNITED NATIONS INTERNATONAL YEAR Of RECONCILIATION
STRATEGIC ACTION PLAN FOR NIGERIA II
TO SUPPORT, IMPLEMENT U. N. MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS
The United Nations International Year of Reconciliation 2009 was by all accounts an enormously
successful global advocacy event for reconciliation. For Refugee Relief Workers International,
participating in the project was exciting, challenging and inspiring. The one year time frame was
extremely too short and we had a lot of struggles trying to complete the identified issues and
components of the matter in order to submit our report before December 31, 2009 deadline.
With a letter, posters and Certificate of Appreciation from S.E.R. Foundation of Switzerland dated
30 March 2010; we were re-invited to continue with reconciliation activities in Nigeria in 2010
alongside other actors around the world.
2010 NARRATIVE REPORT
Refugee Relief Workers International RERWI in the spirit of the United Nations International Year
of Reconciliation participated and carried out advocacy activities on the International Day of Peace
as declared by the United Nations.
The United Nations International Day of Peace was held on Tuesday 21 st September, 2010 at
Dukes & Donalds Hall, 6 Brass Street Aba, our main theme for the day was “Re-Engineering
Peace Process – A New Model”.
Two speakers were invited, Mr. Chukwuemeka A. Anyanwu, a sustainable Development writer and
winner of Pennwell George Muray Young Engineer Award 2007. Pastor Innocent Adiele is a
community based advocate. These two speakers spoke on the topics “Peace a virile tool for
development and Human capacity development a panacea for peace”.
We had 46 people who participated in the programme. The audience cut across diverse interests
the press civil society, traditional, institutions, religious and government representatives.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: We posted banners, posters and certificate of appreciation from S.E.R.
Foundation of Switzerland. The meeting was interactive, where the audience were opportuned to
be clarified on issues that relate to the United Nations Year of Reconciliation. Most people were
eventually mobilized as a vanguard for peace in their various communities.

KEY LESSONS: We learnt in the course of our discussions that peace is achievable only when
people are committed to the cause of people and when a massive campaign and awareness at the
grassroots is launched.
We also saw the need to broaden the peace vanguard structure to the rural communities especially
in those flashpoints for violence and in security.
FELLOW-UP: Towards a sustainable impact of peace and reconciliation within the mapped out
volatile areas of the country, we have written a proposal and about to launch-out a three year
peace and reconciliation campaign project in Nigeria.
We will in due course send you detailed plans for the campaign and arrears your assistance would
be required.
CHALLENGES: It was a global knowledge that our environment, the South-East Nigeria,
especially the South Senatorial Zone of Abia State was grossly overwhelmed by the Degree of
insecurity through kidnapping, rape and other forms of criminal acts. The enormous challenges
provided the audience of this International Day of Peace enough courage to pursue reconciliation
at all cost.
FUNDING: As we may have wanted to organize other forms of activities as indicated in the
strategic action plan to cover up cities mapped out for action, finance and inadequate materials has
in no small measure affected the process as we had not expected.
CONCLUSION: Humanity must continue to strive for peace and reconciliation if any meaningful
development must be achieved especially in third world countries, like Nigeria. We want to believe
that the ongoing reconciliation process will at the end of the programme achieve the expected
goals. We use this opportunity to appreciate S.E.R. foundation for giving us the platform to
function, while seeking for continued support for our three years peace and reconciliation
campaign project 2011 – 2013.

Das Thema "Reconciliation" wurde erörtert und darauf hingewiesen, dass weltweit Veranstaltungen

Um uns mit in dieses Netzwerk der Versöhnung einzustimmen, wurden Beispiele genannt, in welcher

The subject of reconciliation was discussed and it was pointed out that during the International
Reconciliation Year 2010 reconciliation events will take place all over the world.

For the structure of these evenings peace dances, peace songs, motional meditation, a prayer
and different texts were selected. The fact that a whole network of people also dealt with

Participants of the Earth is Our Common Home forum, Novosibirsk, 24-27 of June 2010 “Earth is
Our Common Home” project is a continuation of the 14 years collective planetary activity for cocreating
a different future – a new world of peace, love and conscious co-creation.
To develop collective activity on the way of reconciliation, in summer 2010 an international “Earth is
Our Common Home” culture of peace forum took place in Novosibirsk. It consisted of three parts –
International meeting in Novosibirsk (presentations of the projects), Theatre of New Time art
performance and “Earth is Our Common Home” expedition (Altai, Krasnoyarsk region). Instead of
Baikal we took part in the award ceremony in Switzerland. The forum has brought together 220
people with bright visions of the future who combine culture of peace theory and practical actions.
The forum was focused at effectively managing the transition process into a new world of
conscious co creation.

The key note speakers presented their visions and actions both my speeches and by means of
arts. Federico Mayor – president of the Culture of Peace foundation made a video greeting,
Barbara Marx Hubbard presented her Conscious Evolution film, Talgat Akbashev made a speech –
master class, Nina Goncharova made a presentation for demonstrating a qualitatively new period
of humanity’s evolution – the time for conscious evolution, where people of the Earth take total
responsibility for life and consciously create their own future. Theatre of New Time performance
presented the Earth is Our Common Home project by means of arts. Young people took part in
creating a picture of a new world with the help of words, music, singing, dancing, visual arts,
colors, sounds and conscious presence.

13. Mein Weg der Aussöhnung Switzerland
Am Projekt: Mein Weg der Aussöhnung haben Menschen teilgenommen, die eine grosse
Bereitschaft zeigen, Verantwortung zu übernehmen um ein Leben in Frieden zu führen. Sie haben
sich mit Aussöhnung in ihrem eigenen Leben auseinandergesetzt.
Während einer gewissen Zeit haben sie sich von einem Bild mit dem Thema Aussöhnung
inspirieren lassen. Anschliessend haben diese Menschen einen persönlichen Eintrag in ein Buch
geschrieben und mit Bildern bereichert.
Aussöhnung ist ein Weg, der ins innerste unseres Herzens führt, die Frucht davon ist innerer
Frieden. Es ist ein leiser, unauffälliger und ein persönlicher Weg. Es ist sehr berührend, was für
eine Tiefe, Stärke und Grossherzigkeit diese Beiträge auszeichnen.
Hier folgen einige Auszüge aus den Berichten:

- Für mich ist der Weg der Aussöhnung mit sich selbst etwas vom Schwierigsten: geht es
doch dabei nicht darum, seine Schokoladenseiten zu betrachten. Ist man mit sich selber
versöhnt, kann man anderen auch mit mehr Verständnis und Liebe begegnen.

The people who took part in this project showed great willingness in taking over the responsibility
of living a life in peace. They focused on reconciliation in their own lives.
During a certain time each person could get one’s inspiration from a painting with the theme
reconciliation. Subsequently the people captured their inspirations in words and illustrations in a
book.
Reconciliation is a path which leads to the centre of our hearts, and the fruit we reap is inner
peace. It is silent, without attracting attention and very personal. The contributions are very moving
and are characterized by deepness, strength and big heartedness.
Here are a few excerpts from the contributions:

14. The Tent of Abraham PNA - Palest. Nat. Auth.
The special project of Beit Ibrahim 2010
Abraham the father of prophets said: My Lord, make this city a place of security and provide ist
people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day“.
Through five years Abraham’s tent was a symbol of peace in a region where its children did not
feel security and safety for decades.
Providing deprived children of food, and giving them remedial classes, giving them a sense of
safety and a hope of peace, providing job opportunities for unemployed youth who are suffering
from bad economic conditions, the ten of Abraham stands to tell the war-makers that it will build all
they have destroyed and will continue year after year until there is peace in the land of peace.
Today the tent of Abraham is set up in the town of Beit Ommar, in a town suffering of political
instability, and its children suffer from continuous fear and insecurity where more than 10 of them
were murdered during the years of the first and second intifada.
The town of Beit Ommar
The town of Beit Ommar, a historically rural community of nearly 15,000 people, is located in a
rapidly developing portion of Hebron Governorate in the West Bank. The town strives to maintain
its rual charm and high quality of live while balancing growth and progress.

The town of Beit Ommar is rooted to the Canaanite age; it is believed to be the site of Biblical
village of „Maarath“. In the modern history, the town was a crossing for Pilgrims convoys, to be
supplied with water. The name „Beit Ommar“ is derived from the Arabic words „Bayt Al-Omara“,
meaning „House of Princes“ as it is believed that Arab princes used to meet on a hill in Beit
Ommar.
Expected results from the presence of Tent of Abraham in the town of Beit Ommar
Beit Ommar economy is influenced by the broader regional economy in terms of jobs and overall
economic activity, the town suffers of high rates of poverty and unemployment, however the
presence of the tent of Abraham in the town can lead to the following:
• Improve economic conditions and mental health of children involved
• Strengthen children in terms of school and study
• Give children the incentive for diligence and work and give them hope for peace and
security
15. Das Gespräch geht weiter Switzerland
Herausforderung Islam
Mit einem hochkarätigen Aufgebot an Referenten fand die Tagung «Herausforderung Islam»
in Rorschach statt.
Im Vordergrund standen der Dialog zwischen Moslems und Andersgläubigen und der
Abbau von Klischees
«Wir wollen heute mit mehr Antworten als Fragen nach Hause gehen», mit diesem von Amir
Zaidan, Islamologe aus Wien, formulierten Ziel begann die Tagung. Ein gut gefüllter Saal der
Pädagogischen Hochschule wurde schnell zum Schauplatz von regen Diskussionen.
Der Verfassungsrechtler Andreas Kley betonte, die Religionsfreiheit müsse als Minderheitenschutz
und Grundrecht gewährleistet sein.
«Die Anti-Minarett-Initiative zeigte, dass eine Angst vor dem Fremden, eine Islamophobie,
vorhanden ist», machte Hisham Maizar, Präsident der Föderation Islamischer Dachorgani-sationen
Schweiz, klar. Mit einer einfachen Grafik zeigt der Zürcher Theologieprofessor Werner Kramer auf,
dass nur veränderungsoffene Personen für diese Auseinandersetzung einen geeigneten Beitrag
leisten können.
Seit der Anti-Minarett-Initiative ist eine Entwicklung gegen den Islam im Gange, dieses Problem
kann von der Mehrheitsbevölkerung als Chance des Konsenses genutzt werden. „Nur ein Dialog
unter Freunden kann eine Lösung hervorbringen“, so Zaidan. Erschwert wird das Unterfangen
durch die mangelnde Kommunikation unter den Verbänden und mit dem Staat. Jugendliche
Moslems, die in der Schweiz aufgewachsen sind, müssen als Brückenbauer agieren.
Nach dem Mittagessen und anschliessendem Mittagsgebet, bei dem auch Nichtmoslems zugegen
waren, wurden in kleineren Gruppen heikle Themen debattiert. Aus diesen Workshops gingen
wichtige Statements für die Zukunft hervor. So soll ein rechtzeitiger Kontakt mit der lokalen
Bevölkerung zu einem besseren Klima beitragen. Die Verschiedenartigkeit stellt eine
Bereicherung für das Land dar. Ohne Klischees und Vorurteile in den Köpfen der
nichtmoslemischen Gesellschaft aufzuzeigen, können auch keine diffusen Ängste abgebaut
werden.

The Congress “Challenge Islam” took place with top-class speakers in Rorschach
The focus was on the dialogue between Muslims and people of different faiths and the
elimination of clichés.
«Today we want to go home with more answers than questions», Amir Zaidan, the Viennese
Islamologist began, formulating the goal of the congress. A well-filled hall of the Pädagogische
Hochschule quickly turned into the arena of lively discussions.
The specialist for constitutional law, Andreas Kley, emphasized that freedom of religion must be
granted as a protection of minorities and as a fundamental right.
«The anti-minaret intiative showed that there exists a fear of the unfamiliar, an Islamophobia»,
Hisham Maizar, President of the Federation of the Islam umbrella organisations of Switzerland,
pointed out. By means of a simple graph, the Zurich Professor of Theology, Werner Kramer,
demonstrated that only persons open for change are able to make an appropriate contribution to
this dispute.

Since the anti-minaret initiative there has been a growing mood against the Islam; this problem can
be used as a chance for consent by the majority of the population. “Only a dialogue among
friends can produce a solution”, Zaidan says. This is made more difficult by a lack of
cooperation among the groups and with the state. Muslim youths who have grown up in
Switzerland have to function as bridge builders.
After lunch and the following prayer at which non-Muslims were present, too, small groups
discussed delicate issues. These workshops produced important statements for the future. This
way a timely communication with the local inhabitants could contribute to a better climate. The
diversity constitutes an enrichment for the country.
Unless the clichés and prejudices in the minds of the non-Muslim society are not made visible the
vague fears cannot be reduced.
«The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you»,
with this quotation from the Bible Arne Engeli, organizer of this congress, concluded the day.
16. Friedensprojekte im Heiligen Land – Germany
Geschichten von Freude und Leid
Am Mittwoch 24. November fand in
Kloster Arenberg ein Forumsabend unter dem
Thema „Friedensprojekte im Heiligen Land –
Geschichten von Freude
und Leid“ statt.
Etwa 40 Menschen hatten sich
eingefunden um den Vortrag von Frau
Steffi Schmid zu hören.
Frau Schmid stellte zuerst die S.E.R.
Stiftung vor und ihr Engagement für
Versöhnung und Frieden weltweit als von
der UN anerkannte NGO. Frau Schmid nahm die
Anwesenden danach mit auf eine Reise
durchs Heilige Land, angefangen bei der
indigenen Bevölkerung des Negev, den
Beduinen. Sie erzählte die geschichtlichen
Zusammenhänge, wie die Beduinen ihr Land und ihre
ursprüngliche Lebensweise verloren
haben und stellte ein Selbsthilfeprojekt von
Beduinenfrauen in Lakyia vor, in dem die Beduinenfrauen durch ihr
ursprüngliches Kunst-Handwerk Weben,
Spinnen und Herstellen von Gegenstände
ihre Würde zurückgefunden haben und ihren
Familien durch das Einkommen zu einem
besseren Leben verholfen haben.
Nach einem hebräischen Gesang ging die Reise weiter nach „Neve Shalom – Wahat al Salam“
dem Friedensdorf, wo Christen, Moslems und Juden zusammenleben. Bruno Husar, der Gründer
des Dorfes wurde vorgestellt ebenso wie seine Vision. Berührend war der Brief einer Frau aus dem
Dorf, den sie während des Gaza-Krieges geschrieben hatte.
Es folgte ein Gedicht von einem palästinensischen Arzt und seine Sehnsucht nach Versöhnung mit
seinem jüdischen Nachbarn. Die Reise ging weiter nach Jerusalem und nach Bethlehem.

Es wurden Geschichten vorgelesen, die sich an der Mauer abspielten, sowie immer wieder die
versöhnende Arbeit von einzelnen Personen sowie von weiteren Projekten vorgestellt. In
Bethlehem wurde das Holy Child Projekt, eine Schule für traumatisierte Kinder vorgestellt.
Es folgte ein arabisches Lied und danach
wurde das S.E.R. Elijah-Projekt vorgestellt,
ein Projekt das zu einem neuenBewusstsein
von Versöhnung und Frieden im Heiligen
Land führen soll. Dieses Projekt bietet
Schulungen und Ausbildungen an im
Bereich Selbsterkenntnis,
Persönlichkeitsstärkung, Gesundheit und
wird von Frau Steffi Schmid geleitet.
Nach einer Fragerunde endete der Abend mit einer lustigen wahren Engelsgeschichte aus Bethlehem
und einem Gebet für Aussöhnung und Frieden im Heiligen Land und auf der ganzen Welt. Es

16. Peace Projects in the Holy Land -
Stories of Joy and Sorrow
On Wednesday November 4 th , 2010, an evening forum was held at Arenberg monastery, based on
the theme “Peace projects in the Holy Land – Stories of Joy and Sorrow”.
About 40 people were present for the explanations by Frau Steffi Schmid.
She opened the forum intoducing the S.E.R. Foundation, an NGO at the UN, and its engagement
for peace and reconciliation worldwide.
Frau Schmid took her audience on a journey through the Holy
Land starting with the indigenous people of the Negev desert –
the Bedouins. She spoke about historical connections and how
the Bedouins lost their land and their original way of life.
She then described a “self-help project” of Bedouin women in
Lakyia which allowed them to find back to their original crafts of
spinning, weaving and the production of goods thus contributing
to regain their dignity and to help their families to a better life
through their incomes.
After a Hebrew song, the journey continued to
”Neve Shalom - Wahat al Salam”,
the peace village, where Christians, Moslems and Jews live
together.
Bruno Husar, the founder of the village, was introduced as well as his vision. The touching letter of
a woman written during the Gaza war, was followed by a poem from a Palestinian doctor and his
desire for reconciliation with his Jewish neighbours.
The journey continued to Bethlehem and Jerusalem with stories that took place at the “wall” and
with reports on reconciliation work of individuals and on further projects. One of the projects is the
“Holy Child Project” in Bethlehem, a school for traumatized children. This was followed by an
Arabic song and then the Elijah-Project was introduced, a project that should lead to a new
awareness of reconciliation and peace in the Holy Land.

This project offers teaching and education in the area of self aware-ness, personality development
and health care and will be led by Frau Schmid. After a question time, the evening ended with an
amusing “real angel story” from Bethlehem and a prayer for reconcilia-tion and peace in the Holy
Land and all over the world.
A contribution to the S.E.R. Elijah-Project was welcomed and will be put to good use.

Palästina-Projekt 2010: In Abrahams Haus
In Beit Jala, nahe Bethlehem gibt es ein Jungenheim, in welchem 35 Jungen aus schwierigsten
sozialen Verhältnissen im Alter von 6-18 Jahren leben. Dieses Waisenhaus für Sozialwaisen
gehört zur Abrahams Herberge, die 2003 als Friedensprojekt gegründet wurde, mit der Idee, eine
Begegnungsplattform für Christen, Muslime und Juden zu schaffen und die Versöhnung zwischen
den verfeindeten Religions- und Volksgruppen in Israel / Palästina zu fördern.
Kern der Philosophie der Abrahams Herberge ist es, Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene aus
Palästina, Israel, aus den arabischen Nachbarländern und aus aller Welt, also Menschen
verschiedener Herkunft, Religion und Einstellung aufeinander treffen zu lassen – als friedensbildende
Maßnahme. Ein geeigneter Ort, um mit Kunst Zeichen zu setzen. Das Jungenheim war in
diesem Herbst zum zweiten Mal Schauplatz eines interdisziplinären Projekts.

In dem Kunstprojekt ging es diesmal um Abraham, den Stammvater der drei monotheistischen
Religionen und Namengeber der Institution. Der Fokus lag dabei weniger auf dem religiösen
Gehalt als vielmehr dem interkulturellen Aspekt des Themas und dem Bezug zum Ort. Nachdem
im letzten Jahr die Kunst vor allem die Funktion gehabt hatte, die „Türen“ zu öffnen zu den
Kindern und Jugendlichen und den multilateralen Dialog überhaupt anzuregen, sollte diesmal eine
echte künstlerische und musikalische Arbeit mit intensiveren Übungsphasen und raumgreifenden
Ergebnissen im Vordergrund stehen.
Die Arbeit fand auf zwei Ebenen statt, im Bereich bildende Kunst und darstellende Kunst. Das
Haus Abrahams, das heißt die Räumlichkeiten des Jungenheims sollten tatsächlich ihr Gesicht
verändern, die Story des Stammvaters wurde als Musical mit Musik und Inszenierung dargestellt.
Die Ergebnisse aus diversen Workshops sollten in einer großen Abschlussausstellung und einer
öffentlichen Performance zusammengeführt und präsentiert werden. Und so haben wir gearbeitet:
Regelmäßig gab es Chor und rhythmisches Arbeiten mit Friedemann Geisler, um die Songs für
das Musical mit allen einzustudieren: u.a. einen Kanon, in welchem einmal auf arabisch,
hebräisch, englisch Gott besungen wird. In einem einstimmigen Stück ging es einmal um die
Geburt Isaaks, einmal die Geburt Ismaels. Unser Gastgeber, der Gründer der Abrahams Herberge,
Jadalla Shihade, hatte die Texte zum Teil selbst übersetzt..
Die Jungen wurden eingeteilt in Schauspieler und Musiker. Die Schauspieler, zu denen vor allem
die jüngeren Kinder zählten, befassten sich unter Evelines Anleitung mit den Rollen und zentralen
Szenen der Abrahams- Geschichte und stellten diese solo oder im Ensemble dar. Der Streit der
beiden Frauen von Abraham, Sarah und Hagar, wurde z.B. in Form einer Choreographie durch
zwei Gruppen ausgedrückt, die pantomimisch gegeneinander kämpfen, begleitet von einem
rhythmisch stark akzentuierten Klatschkanon, den die Musiker einstudierten.
Die Räumlichkeiten des Jungenheims sollten in diesem Jahr sichtbar und nachhaltig verändert
werden und die Anonymität eines Heims, einer „Jugendherberge“ verlieren. Also mussten die
Wände direkt bearbeitet werden. Das geschah auf zwei Ebenen. Während die Jungs in der Schule
waren bzw. nicht ihre Schlafräume benutzen, gingen die bildenden Künstler unter der Assistenz
der Musiker zu Werk. Sie planten und realisierten für alle zehn Schlafräume ein individuell auf das
Alter und die jeweils in dem Zimmer lebenden Jungen zugeschnittenes Raumkonzept. Die
gesamte Atmosphäre der Räume veränderte sich. Die Kinder sprachen selbst von „Wärme“ und
„Lebendigkeit“.
Die Workshops in bildender Kunst waren so ausgerichtet, dass die Ergebnisse in die
Raumkonzepte bzw. das Musical integriert werden konnten. Alle Jungen durchliefen im Laufe
unseres zweiwöchigen Projekts das gesamte Programm mit Glasmalerei, Linolschnitt und
Illustration bzw. Bühnenbild. Der Gruppenwechsel fand jeweils nach zwei bis drei Einheiten statt.

Das Jungenheim hat sich nach unserer Aktion tatsächlich sehr verändert. Der stürmische Applaus
nach der Uraufführung des Singspiels „Abrahams“, das von Friedemann Geisler extra für das
Projekt komponiert worden war, machte hörbar, dass das Projekt im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes
sehr guten Anklang gefunden hat. Wir sollen jetzt die Fortsetzung planen.
Wenn man bedenkt, dass wir nach einem Jahr Pause so unmittelbar an die Arbeit aus dem Vorjahr
anknüpfen und diesmal wirklich vertiefen und Fähigkeiten ausbilden konnten, so motiviert es sehr,
wiederzukommen und weiter zu arbeiten. Die Kunst hat trotz der kurzen Arbeitsphasen
offensichtlich nachhaltig gewirkt. Die Jungs haben in einer Abschlussrunde selbst am besten
ausgedrückt, was das Projekt mit ihnen gemacht hat. Sie bedankten sich dafür, dass nicht nur ihre
Schlafräume individuell geworden wären, sondern dass wir durch die Kunst das aus ihnen hervor
gelockt hätten, was in ihnen steckt. Das sind Worte, die tief gehen, erst recht wenn man weiß, was
sie alles schon erlebt haben.

Palestine-Project: In Abrahams Herberge
There is an orphanage for boys in Beit Jala near Bethlehem, where 35 boys from disadvantaged
backgrounds, aged between 6 – 18 years are living. It belongs to “Abrahams Herberge”, which was
founded in 2003 as a peace project, with the idea of creating a meeting forum for Christians,
Moslems and Jews and promoting reconciliation processes between the warring religious and
ethnic groups in Israel / Palestine.
The philosophy is to give an opportunity to children, young people and adults from Israel,
Palestine, the neighbouring Arabic countries and the whole world with different religions, origins
and opinions, of coming together - as a peace building measure. A suitable place to set an
example by means of art!
This autumn the orphanage was a stage for an interdisciplinary project for the second time.
This time the art project was about Abraham, the patriarch of the 3 monotheistic religions and
eponym of the institution. The focus was not so much on the religious content but rather on the
intercultural aspect of the subject and the relationship to the location. Last year the function of art
was to open the door to the children and young people and to activate the multilateral dialogue.
This time, however, the focus was on a real artistic and musical work with intensive training phases
and perceptible results.
The work took place at 2 levels: in the field of visual and the performing arts. The House of
Abrahams Herberge, i.e. the rooms of the orphanage were actually re-designed and the story of
the patriarch was performed as a musical with music and staging.
The orphanage changed after our action. The children themselves were talking about more
“warmth” and “liveliness”. The rapturous applause after the premiere of the musical “Abraham”,
which was specially composed for this play by Friedemann Geisler, made audible that the project
resonated with the audience in the truest sense of the word.
When considering the fact, that after a year off we could continue our work of the previous year
straight away and this time really deepen and develop the skills of the boys, we are really
motivated to come back and continue with our work.
Despite the short working hours, the artistic work apparently had a lasting effect. The boys thanked
us, not only for having designed their sleeping rooms individually but also for the fact that the
capabilities they had in themselves were elicited through art. These words are touching, especially
if you know what they have already been through!

Die Raku-Teeschale "Kosmos" kam dieses Jahr wieder nach Winterthur. Wie bereits letztes Jahr
wurde darin Macha-Tee zubereitet und gemeinsam getrunken.
Ein Abend für den Frieden in der Welt. Die Teeschale hat seit ihrem letzten Besuch wieder viele
Orte in der Welt besucht, ganz nach dem Motto des Teelehrers Jack Convery-So-Ko aus Kyoto:

21. 9. Aachener Friedenslauf Germany
Das Begleitprogramm: Angebote für den Unterricht
Der Friedenslauf findet am 09. Juli statt. Doch um die Bedeutung von Frieden und den Einsatz für
ein friedliches Miteinander im Alltag tatsächlich zu begreifen, genügt es nicht, an diesem Tag seine
Runden abzulaufen. Aus diesem Grund gibt es alljährlich zusätzlich ein umfangreiches
Begleitprogramm, das sowohl Schüler/-innen als auch Lehrer/-innen auf ihre Aufgabe vorbereiten
soll. Wir freuen uns, wenn möglichst viele Lehrer/-innen diese Chance für sich und ihre Klassen
nutzen!
Am 09. Juli war es wieder so weit: der 9. Aachener Friedenslauf ließ die Aachener Innenstadt in
bunten Farben erstrahlen. Trotz Temperaturen von über 30° und strahlendem Sonnenschein
ließen es sich über 3000 Kinder nicht nehmen, unter dem Motto
„Lauf mit – schaffe Frieden! Konflikte lösen ohne Gewalt“ ihre Runden rund um Rathaus und
Dom zu drehen.
Obwohl im Vorfeld einige Bedenken bezüglich der äußeren Bedingungen geäußert wurden,
schenkten viele Lehrer und Schüler den Veranstaltern ihr Vertrauen – wie sich zeigte, zu Recht.
Dank langer Organisation, einer zusätzlichen Wasserstelle sowie der engagierten Mithilfe von rund
120 freiwilligen Helfer/-innen am Lauftag selbst, ging jedoch alles gut über die Bühne. Und auch
der Einsatz der Schüler/-innen für den guten Zweck wurde nicht getrübt. Das Tempo, in dem die
ca. 900 Meter langen Runden zurückgelegt wurden, wurde zwar herunter gefahren und der Lauf
der älteren Schüler wegen der Mittagssonne frühzeitig beendet. Doch der Eifer nach den zu
erlaufenden Rundenstempeln war ungebrochen.
Wir freuen uns, mitteilen zu können, dass sich die Spenden-Einnahmen der Läuferinnen und
Läufer des 9. Aachener Friedenslaufs auf 30.314,38 EUR belaufen. Wir danken herzlich allen
Engagierten für dieses tolle Ergebnis.

The peace run takes place July 9th, but it is not enough to run ones rounds that day.
In order to conceive the deeper sense of peace and the real meaning of peaceful cooperation in
everyday life extensive accompanying programs for pupils and teachers are needed.
Therefore we would be glad, if as many teachers took this chance with their classes!
Although the temperature was very high with warmest sunshine, more than 3000 children
participated in the competition with the motto:
“Join in – make peace! Solve conflicts without violence“
July 9th, 2010 was the day, when the City of Aachen was enlightened in bright colours.
The receipts by donations which the children collected with their running reach the total of
30.324,38 Euro. We cordially say thank-you to all participants for this great result.

22. Palestinian/Israeli/German Theatre Project

Palestinian, Israeli and German kids performed a play about Abraham, being the father of the 3
Religions Christianity, Judaism and Islam. The central message of the play is encounter and
reconciliation. The scenes had been developed separately in Germany as well as on the
Palestinian/Israeli part before all the children met in Jerusalem.
1. We plan the first meeting for the kids from Palestine and from Israel to take place in Jerusalem.
At the last minute, we find out that the Palestinian children have been denied permits to come to
Jerusalem. In a matter of hours, we must organize for the six Israeli children from Jerusalem to drive
with their leader Rabbi Sarra Lev in a small bus to Beit Jallah. This is the first time in their lives that
they are travelling behind the wall. They meet with six Christian and Moslem Palestinian children in
Area C in Beit Jala, the only place where both sides are still permitted to go to.

2. The children read the opening of their scripts, where it says:
“The invitation is given out in three languages:
You are cordially invited to Jerusalem for the end of days celebration of peace.
If you come …it will happen.
…..and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into prunninghooks…

3. Wadia from the boys’ home at Abrahams Herberge in Beit Jala asks his friend Sami:
“What are you doing? Theatre with Jewish kids? Are you crazy? We are Palestinians! We don’t meet
with Israelis!” Sami looks him back in the eyes and answers bravely: “You know nothing at all. I belong
to the kids for peace.”
Last year in October 2009 Sami participated in a theatre workshop in Bergisch
Gladbach, Germany. Together with three other boys from the boys home and two girls, he
presented a play about the reconciliation of the two sons of Abraham - a message of
peace from a country where only hope and vision makes children and adults brave enough to
stretch out hands to those on the other side of the wall.
Together with Hannelore Shihadeh, (pastor’s wife, Beit Jala), Sarra Lev (Rabbi, Jerusalem/
Philadelphia) and Christina Otto, (drama teacher, Bergisch Gladbach), a group of children from three
countries have created their own play about the vision of the prophet Micha. In this vision, the prophet
invites the all peoples to meet on the mountain of God and to learn how to live together.
Since the 12 th of February 2010, the children have managed to meet every two weeks, even if it is
necessary to do it through skype when circumstances prevent them from meeting face to face.
It is difficult to find words to explain what happens during those meetings, but nine year old Jewish
Liana from Jerusalem manages to find the right words. After out first meeting she looked into the
camera and said seriously “we need to get out of the bubble we live in.”
At the same time as the children from Palestine and Israel have been meeting every two weeks,
Christina Otto has been working with ten children in Germany on the same play. For most of the
German children this is the continuation of the wonderful workshop they had together with the
Palestinain children last year in October. They are counting the days until they will come and meet
their Palestinian friends in Beit Jala and get to know their new Jewish friends in Jerusalem.
From the 17 th to the 28 th of October, 2010 the German children will arrive in the Middle-East, and all of
the children will meet and prepare for the premier of their play.
Liana and Sami don’t need their scripts anymore. They know what they want to say.

Child 1: We’ve worked for a year on this play, and now I go to my house, and you go to
yours,
and the wall is still there between us. What good has it done us to do all this?
Child 2: It’s true the wall hasn’t changed … but we have changed.

Bericht der Theaterarbeit – Beit Jala / Jersualem Oktober 2010
Nach einem halben Jahr Vorbereitung und Theaterarbeit in den Städten Bergisch Gladbach, Beit Jala und
Jerusalem, ging die Reise endlich los. Mit elf erwartungsvollen Schauspielern und den Betreuern trafen wir
uns am Montag, 19.10. auf dem Flughafen in Düsseldorf, um altbekannte und neue Freunde zu treffen und
um gemeinsam mit ihnen Theater zu spielen.
Fast wäre das Projekt in letzter Minute abgesagt worden, denn unsere Projektinitiatorin Hannelore wurde
leider sehr krank. Ohne sie fortzufahren, fühlte sich nicht richtig an, und keiner der Beteiligten wusste so
recht, was wir tun sollten. Aber auf der anderen Seite war da die Arbeit an dem Stück, die nicht länger
warten konnte und drohte aus Motivationsmangel vielleicht einzuschlafen, und da waren die Jugendlichen.
Vor allem die Teilnehmer auf palästinensischer Seite erwarteten sehnsüchtig unseren Gegenbesuch. Schon
im Februar bei den ersten Proben für das neue Stück, fragte mich Ibrahim: „Wann kommen denn nun die
deutschen Kinder?“ Als ich antwortete „im Oktober“, wiederholte er immer wieder: „Oh bitte, lass es morgen
schon Oktober sein.“
Mit diesen Gedanken im Kopf konnten wir unmöglich die Reise absagen. Schließlich war unser Besuch eine
willkommene Abwechslung im Alltag der Jugendlichen in Beit Jala, die zum Teil in einem Kinderheim
wohnen. Aber die Schwierigkeiten passten auch zum Thema des Projekts und des Theaterstückes, denn der
Weg nach Jerusalem ist steinig und man muss Hürden überwinden, um dort anzugelangen. Wer aber sich
aber trotzdem auf den Weg macht, den erwarten Menschen, um gemeinsam in Frieden und Gemeinschaft
zu leben. So zumindest war der Inhalt des Stückes, das wir gemeinsam spielen wollten.
Das Stück spielt allerdings in der Zukunft – genauer gesagt ist es eine Prophezeiung des Propheten
Micha. Und Prophezeiungen werden hoffentlich irgendwann wahr. Als wir ankamen, waren sie allerdings
noch keine Wahrheit. Wir fanden eine große Mauer und Checkpoints, die Beit Jala von Jerusalem trennen
vor. Mit unserem Theaterprojekt über die Friedens-Prophezeiung wollten wir der Wahrheit auf die Sprünge
helfen, denn das Ziel war: Jugendliche aus Israel, Palästina und Deutschland zusammenzubringen, die sich
sonst niemals treffen würden und mit ihnen an einer gemeinsamen Sache zu arbeiten.

Als wir kamen, waren natürlich alle in ihrem regulären (Schul-)Alltag eingespannt; die Organisation von
gemeinsamen Probenzeiten stellte sich als äußert schwierig heraus. Das erste Mal trafen sich nur die
israelischen und die deutschen Teilnehmer in einer israelischen Schule, um sich kennenzulernen. Auch eine
Übernachtung bei den israelischen Familien war im Anschluss an die erste Probe möglich. Der Ort der
zweiten Probe war für alle Teilnehmer eine große Überraschung. Denn die zweite Probe konnte in der
Cinemathek in Jerusalem stattfinden. Gar nicht so einfach, denn für die Anreise zu diesem Probenort
brauchten die palästinensischen Teilnehmer ein „Permit“ d.h. eine Bewilligung, um durch den Checkpoint auf
die andere Seite nach Jerusalem zu gelangen.
Bei dieser Probe formulierten wir auf Zetteln zunächst die Erwartungen und Wünsche für die gemeinsame
Probenarbeit. Der Wunsch die Mauer abzuschaffen und gemeinsam in Frieden zu leben, stand auf allen
(palästinensischen) Zetteln und der Workshop begann mit dem gemeinsamen Anzünden einer
Friedenskerze in einem sehr bewegenden Moment mit Buma. Denn er hatte es tatsächlich geschafft, den
palästinensischen Teilnehmern (Erwachsene und Kinder) ein „Permit“ nach Jerusalem zu besorgen.
Dann spielten wir einander die Szenen vor, die in der Zeit vor unserem Zusammentreffen entstanden waren.
Alle waren sehr begeistert. Von nun an hatten wir noch zwei weitere Treffen, um unser Theaterstück für
unsere Präsentation in Beit Jala zu proben. Die Aufregung stieg. Viele Dinge, wie die Kürzung des Texts, die
Organisation von Kostümen, Bussen und Probenzeiten waren neben den regulären Proben zu erledigen. Die
folgenden Proben waren bunt, vielsprachig und munter. Ständig kam irgendwer zu spät oder gar nicht, ein
Einsatz wurde vergessen oder irgendein Requisit fehlte. Das kleine Chaos war aber egal, denn dazwischen
passierte etwas viel wichtigeres. Während die Erwachsenen noch bastelten, aufräumten und Programmhefte
gestalteten, konnte man bemerken, wie sich - trotz drei verschiedener Sprachen - zwischen den
Theaterteilnehmern Kommunikation und wahre Freundschaften entwickelten.
Dalia mit ihrer Querflöte konnten wir für die musikalischen Passagen gewinnen, was dem Stück viel Struktur
verpasste. Das erste Mal wurde das Stück schließlich in der Generalprobe einmal ganz durchgespielt,
während die Zuschauer schon draußen warteten. Das Lampenfieber und die Konzentration, sowie der
Zusammenhalt der Gruppe und die gute Zusammenarbeit des Organisatoren-Teams ließ die Präsentation
reibungsloser ablaufen, als ich erwartet hatte. Erleichtert fielen sich danach alle in die Arme und probierten
ihre Unterschriften auf den gemeinsamen, neuen T-Shirts aus.
Für ca. 30 Menschen war die Prophezeiung des Propheten Micha ein kleines Stückchen näher in die
Gegenwart gerückt.

Summary and Translation of the report
After half a year of preparation and theatre work in the cities of Bergisch Gladbach, Jerusalem and
Beit Jala, we could finally start our trip to the Holy Land! Our group consisted of 11 young actors and
several caregivers and we met at the Airport Düsseldorf on October 19 th , 2010
The project was almost cancelled as our project initiator, Hannelore Shihadeh, was very ill. It did not
feel right to continue without her but, on the other hand, we thought of the young people who had been
looking forward to our visit, especially the young participants on the Palestinian side. Already in
February, during the first preparations for the new play, Ibrahim had asked: „ When will the German
children finally arrive? My answer “In October“, prompted him to say: „please let it be October already
tomorrow!“
Thinking of these words, we were unable to cancel this trip.
The play is set in the future, more precisely: it is a prophecy of the prophet Micah. And
prophecies will hopefully come true one day. When we arrived in Jerusalem they had, however, not yet
come true: We had to face a huge wall and checkpoints, separating Beit Jala from Jerusalem. With our
theatre project and the prophecies of freedom by Micah we wanted to give truth a helping hand, for the
aim was: to bring young people from Israel, Palestine and Germany together and to work with them in
a joint cause.
At the beginning of the first rehearsal we formulated, on scraps of paper, our expectations and wishes
concerning our common work. On all (Palestinian) scraps you could read the desire to abolish the wall

and to live together in peace. Afterwards we started the workshop with a joint lighting of a peace
candle.
Then we performed the scenes which had been developed separately before we met. We were all very
excited. Now there were only 2 more meetings of joint rehearsals before the presentation of our
theatre play in Beit Jala. The excitement rose. The rehearsals were colourful, multilingual and lively.
Constantly somebody was late or did not come at all, a commitment was forgotten or a requisite was
missing. This small chaos, however, did not count, because in the meantime very important things
were happening. As the grown-ups were still tinkering, tidying up and creating programs one could
realize, that in spite of the 3 different languages, communication and real friendships developed
between the young participants of the theatre project.
After the successful performance in front of an audience everybody was happy and we all put our
signature to the new T-Shirts of the young people. For 30 people the prophecy of Micah had become a
little bit closer to realization!

the new works!“ The inspiration came from New
Orleans, as several members joined me on a trip
back to my roots
With this energy we returned to Cologne, and it
was quite clear: we will never be the same...and
that is wonderful.

auf der Spur
Switzerland
Wie RadioChico Schweiz die im Jahr 2009 erlangten Erkenntnisse
im 2010 vertieft und Weiteres für das Jahr 2011 aufgegleist hat
Projekt-Zeitraum: von 2010-01-01 bis 2010-12-31
Bericht:
Jugendliche Reporter von RadioChico, die meisten von ihnen Schulkinder, stiessen im Jahr 2009 bei ihren
Umfragen und Reportagen auf interessante Aussagen zum Thema Versöhnung. Eine dieser Aussage war:
„Man muss über den eigenen Schatten springen.“ Ein Sprichwort, welches die Wichtigkeit des eigenen
Verhaltens im Umgang mit Versöhnung ausdrückt.
Die jungen Radiomacher versuchten ganz konkret, an einem sonnigen Tag über ihren eigenen Schatten zu
springen. Unmöglich! Nur um die Mittagszeit gelang es ihnen, auf den eigenen Schatten zu stehen. Dafür
konnten sie jederzeit über den Schatten des Anderen springen…
Könnte es sein, dass man das Sprichwort nur dann ausführen kann, wenn man sich mit dem Anderen – dem
„Feind“ – identifiziert und dadurch die Fähigkeit erlangt, über dessen Schatten zu springen? Wenn man also
eins ist mit dem Anderen gelingt der Sprung über den eigenen Schatten, und dadurch die Versöhnung?
Beseelt durch diese Erkenntnis und den Wunsch, mit dem Thema „Versöhnung“ weiter zu experimentieren
und dem „Anderen“ immer wieder neu zu begegnen, um dem Frieden mehr Raum zu geben, hat RadioChico
Schweiz im Jahr 2010 eine Vielfalt von Aktivitäten entfaltet.
Ein besonderes Highlight waren und sind die Begegnungen mit älteren Menschen: über mehrere Tage
kamen die Jugendlichen mit den Bewohnern und Bewohnerinnen eines Altersheims zusammen. Sie
befragten die SeniorInnen und gaben ihnen eine Plattform zum Erzählen. Daraus entstand eine CD-ROM mit
Auszügen aus den Gesprächen.
Geplant ist, diese Vernetzung zwischen Jung und Alt weiter gedeihen zu lassen: zusammen mit der terz-
Stiftung soll RadioChico Schweiz weitere Begegnungen entstehen lassen, in Anlehnung an das geglückte
Experiment, die ältere Generation über ihre Wünsche für die Welt sprechen zu lassen. Die Idee wurde auch
in der Zeitschrift ‚Reformiert’ bekannt gemacht. Ja, wir sind bereit für all die spannenden Licht–Schatten
Geschichten.
Nicht nur die Grenzen zwischen den Generationen wurden 2010 von RadioChico Schweiz erzählerisch,
fragend und singend überschritten: Dasselbe galt auch für die Grenzen innerhalb der Schweiz, sprich die
Sprachgrenzen. Das Radio sendete in diesem Jahr schon mehrmals auf Französisch und Englisch. Jetzt mit
Alexander hat das Jugendteam auch noch einen Italienisch-sprechenden Jugendmoderator gewinnen
können.
Für Begegnungen mit dem Anderen weit über die Schweizer Grenzen hinaus hat RadioChico Schweiz im
2010 an einem internationalen Workshop in Genf teilgenommen. Das Thema war „Conflicts and Culture“, ein
besonderer Gast war der junge Rapper Emmanuel aus dem Sudan, der auf eine Vergangenheit als
Kindersoldat zurückblicken muss. Der anwesende junge RadioChico-Reporter hatte die Gelegenheit, ein
Interview auf Englisch zu machen. Dies ganz nach dem Konzept von RadioChico Schweiz, nur Gutes zu
berichten. Dieses ebenfalls „über seinen Schatten springen“ hat ihn berührt und dazu bewegt, für RadioChico
einen kurzen Radiorap zu machen.
Kontakte gab es schliesslich im 2010 auch mit einer Gruppe aus Sri Lanka. Diese wird für RadioChico
Schweiz ein Video zum Thema „Über den Schatten springen“ in ihrem von Gewalt und Krieg gezeichneten
Land machen. Versöhnung wird bei diesem Vorhaben durchdringend sein.
2010 wurden viele Ecksteine gelegt, um aus RadioChico Schweiz ein RadioChico World zu machen, das in
der UNO-Versöhnungs-Dekade Schritt für Schritt dem Thema näher kommen soll, einen Beitrag für den
Weltfrieden zu leisten.

Hintergrundinformationen:
Radio Chico Schweiz ist ein Jugendförderungsprojekt. Im Jahr 2008 hat RadioChico den
Förderpreis des „BärnerJugendTags“ erhalten. Im Jahr danach, 2009, wurde RadioChico Schweiz
für sein Projekt „Reconciliation“ zum UNO-Jahr der Versöhnung von der S.E.R. Stiftung zu den
zwölf Preisgekrönten erwählt.
Das Jugendförderungsprojekt basiert auf einem soliden pädagogischen Konzept. Die jugendlichen
ModeratorInnen unterschreiben einen Ehrenkodex und nehmen an Schulungen teil, die von ehrenamtlich
arbeitenden Experten durchgeführt werden. Mit seinem mobilen Studio geht RadioChico Schweiz für
Schulprojektwochen auch in Schulen überall in der Schweiz.
RadioChico Schweiz sendet nur gute Nachrichten. Dies soll mithelfen, unsere Achtsamkeit auf das
Schöne in der Welt zu lenken, unsere Mitmenschen und uns zu stärken, und so Frieden und Lebensfreude
zu verbreiten.

24. Tracking Reconciliation with a Microphone and Camera in 2010
How RadioChico Schweiz deepened the insights gained in 2009
and created a basis for continuing in 2011 and beyond

Report:
During their interviews and surveys in 2009, the young reporters working for RadioChico – most of them
school children – came across interesting statements about reconciliation. One of these statements was:
“You have to jump over your own shadow.” This adage underlines the importance of one’s own behaviour
when trying to deal with reconciliation.
One sunny day, the young radio producers literally tried to jump over their own shadows. It was
impossible! They only managed to stand on their own shadows at midday. However, each of them did
succeed in jumping over someone else’s shadow – the shadow of the Other.
Could it be that it is only possible to fulfil the adage by identifying with the Other – the “enemy” – thus
gaining the ability to jump over the proverbial shadow? In other words, when I’m one with the Other, can’t I
jump over my own shadow and thus enable reconciliation?
Propelled by this insight and moved by the desire to experiment further with the theme of “Reconciliation”
and encounter the “Other” again and again in order to make space for peace, RadioChico Schweiz
developed a number of new activities in the year 2010.
One particular highlight was and remains the encounter with elderly people: during several days young
people came together with the inhabitants of a retired people’s home. They interviewed the senior citizens
and offered them a platform for telling their stories. A CD-Rom with extracts from the discussions was
produced.
We plan to make this networking between the younger and older generation develop further: in
collaboration with the terz Foundation, RadioChico Schweiz will organise additional encounters, like the

successful experiment that it undertook when it asked senior citizens to express their wishes for the world.
This idea was also disseminated with the help of a magazine entitled “Reformiert”. Yes, we are definitely
ready for all these poignant stories about light and shadows.
RadioChico Schweiz used interviews, stories and songs to step over other boundaries as well, not just
those between generations: language boundaries within Switzerland are now also being crossed. In 2010,
some programmes were produced in French and English as well. With the newcomer Alexander, the team
of young reporters now even has an Italian-speaking moderator.
What about encounters with the Other beyond the borders of Switzerland? Yes, RadioChico Schweiz has
also crossed its national borders: it took part in an international workshop in Geneva, entitled “Conflicts
and Culture”. One of the special guests was the young rapper Emmanuel from Sudan, who looks back on
a childhood as a child soldier. The young RadioChico reporter who interviewed him had to do so in
English, using the radio’s fundamental principle of only reporting on good things. This case of “jumping
over one’s shadow” moved the young musician and motivated him to create a short rap for RadioChico.
Finally, in 2010 we were also in contact with a group from Sri Lanka. This group will produce a video for
RadioChico on the theme of “Jumping over one’s shadow” in a country characterized by violence and war.
In this project as well, the key theme will be reconciliation.
In 2010, many cornerstones were set to transform RadioChico Schweiz into a RadioChico World, the aim
of which will continue to be a step-by-step approach to reconciliation, in order to contribute to world peace
in the UN Decade for Peace.

25. Dancing for Peace and Healing
About 40 women and men come together in order to sing and dance for „Mother Earth“;
praying for inner harmony, spiritual healing and peace.
We dance outside in the nature, our songs are accompanied by drum and guitar music,
a body prayer and various texts deepen the subject. We tune into this great network of
people working for peace and reconciliation.
The donations are for the “Holy child Program – HCP”, Beit Sahur/Bethlehem,
where traumatized children are treated therapeutically.

27. Voice of the Voiceless Pakistan
The Voice has been busy likewise in helping, supporting and nourishing the Orphans throughout
the year. The Voice have been succeeded in giving Education, transportation, food and all the
necessities of life including home to 25 Children.
The Voice Children in Voice Home
The Voice team is working hard to achieve their goal of building up an orphanage for the
homeless children and to develop their skills so that they may also live with dignity and respect
in this society. Helping the homeless and poor children is like a dream come true of a belated.
Voice member Natasha, NATASHA (Board Member and one of the Founder member of The
Voice) She passed away from this world in 2008 having dream of a home in her eyes for such
children who are dreaming of their own family, a home and a better life. In many cases we also
help people to adopt a child from The Voice home, in this way we also help children in finding a
family as well.
The Voice children are growing day by day in their education, physical and mental growth. While
the families of the Voice team are also taking special interest in helping the children regarding
their studies and also helping the Voice by sharing the work and responsibilities in the limited
resources of providing helping staff to the children at home who can cook for the children and
help them in everyday tasks of their life.

The voice also provides them facilities to grow up mentally and physically by giving them
opportunities to celebrate all the festivals and holidays in Pakistan in different and interesting
ways by planning trips, parties in parks, auditoriums and at home.

Due to the lack of funds and group the Voice teams is facing a lot of problems regarding their
work, but are helping the children in the limited sources. With the passage of time as the Voice
Children are growing day by day in their physical, mental and educational phase, their expenses
and needs are also growing day by day. The increasing rates and decreasing economy is also a
big hurdle in the work of The Voice. The Voice adopted a new child named Sonia in May who
was two months old at that time; she is now eight months old and the Voice family is taking care
of her.
We are doing our best to give these children a healthy present and a best future. More over The
Voice have supported almost 20 Children with single parents regarding their education including
their educational expenses like books, bags and others.
Please support the voice with your money and even pennies so that we could make the most

28. MUSICAL PRESENTATION Burundi
CONCERT OF PEACE AND RECONCILIATION ON AUGUST 14 TH , 2010 BY THE HOLY
FAMILY CHOIR AT SANCTUARY OF MOUNT ZION GIKUNGU, Bujumbura
At Sanctuary of Mount Zion Gikungu, the Holy Family choir presented a concert of peace and
reconciliation, on the 14 th , August 2010 at the eve of Assumption. The purpose was to help
Christians and Pilgrims celebrate the Assumption Feast of August 15 th , with a feeling of love,
peace and reconciliation.
In fact, many Pilgrims had come from different corners of the country for celebrating the
Assumption. There were also other Pilgrims who came from neighbouring countries such as
Kenya. In addition to that, through the Radio “Radio MARIYA”, the Holy Family Choir had
announced that it would perform a concert of Peace and reconciliation at Mount Zion Gikungu.
That concert began at 5:00 PM with a speech of the president of the Choir. The latter asked
people who were present to make that message of peace and reconciliation their own and then
propagate it in their neighbourhood when they would be back home. Many songs inviting people
to peace, love, mutual respect and reconciliation were performed by the members of the choir
with dancing girls.
In the middle of the concert, the Rector of the Sanctuary, Déogratias MARUHUKIRO, had the
floor in which he thanked the Choir to a higher extent for their initiative of paramount importance
to the nation and the world as whole.
The concert took an end at 7: 00 P.M in a very good atmosphere and joy of Christians and
Pilgrims. The photos in appendix show the happiness that was prevailing during the musical

30. Act2 – The role of cultural relations Switzerland
In addressing conflict: Re-establishing normality
Conference at the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, Geneva
20 September 2010
A new, exciting programme of activity in 2010. Working with British Council Sri Lanka, the Pan
Intercultural Arts and UN institutions in Geneva, we highlight how cultural relations makes a
difference in conflict prevention and reconciliation.
Act2
The British Council Switzerland identified 12 young people aged 18-25 from post-conflict
regions around the world, who travelled to Switzerland in September 2010. They trained for a
week with Pan Intercultural Arts, Emmanuel Jal and Shakthi. They learned how to use
performance techniques to address conflict and are able to use what they have learned after
having returned to their own country.
On 20 September, there was a one day conference at the ICRC Museum in Geneva called
"ACT 2: The Role of Cultural Relations in Addressing Conflict: Re-establishing Normality." We
had some great speakers lined up and were showcasing examples of how cultural relations can
be used as a tool in conflict prevention and reconciliation.
On 21 September, there was an evening at the Grütli Arts Centre in Geneva with Shakthi,
Emmanuel Jal and the young people from post-conflict countries.
Emma Thompson and Emmanuel Jal are co-patrons of Act2.
Rose Bruford College worked with us to document this programme as part of a research
project.

Why cultural relations?
The British Council has been helping to address conflict and build longterm
peace through cultural relations throughout its 75-year history. Our
experience shows that cultural relations can be an effective tool in helping
to build peace, as they encourage an appreciation of shared
commonalities as well as an understanding of differences. People-topeople
relationships can build an understanding and trust of others that is
able to influence relationships between nations as well as major global
issues. With a global reach into well over 100 countries and experience
working with young people in all of them, the British Council is uniquely
placed to address conflict and peace-building in this way.

Introduction: Act2 Programme
The Act2 conference on cultural relations and conflict, hosted by the International
Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in Geneva on 20 September 2010,
represents the start of a new engagement for the British Council; one with the UN,
international organisations and NGOs based in Switzerland. Its aim was to
investigate the under-explored relationship between the arts, conflict and peacebuilding,
to identify good practice, and showcase case studies on how the arts
have been used as a tool to address conflict and re-establish postconflict normality.
However, the conference was just one element of the Act2 programme on cultural
relations and conflict. The week before the conference, the British Council
convened in Switzerland a workshop for young people from conflict zones around
the world, to learn how they can apply the arts to peace-building in their own
societies. They brought their experiences from Georgia, Israel, Kenya, Northern
Ireland, Peru, Russia (Chechnya), Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Yemen,
Zimbabwe. Many of their real-life stories were told at the conference.
These Geneva events brought together academics, practitioners, artists, peacebuilding
and other organisations including the ICRC, ILO, War Child, Interpeace,
Shirkat Gah (Pakistan), CMI (Finland) and NATO, to illustrate good practice from
around the world. The Geneva conference also featured Emmanuel Jal, who
spoke of his personal journey from child soldier in Sudan to international rap artist
and peace-building activist.
The British Council is honoured to have the support of two extraordinary patrons for
Act2: Emma Thompson and Emmanuel Jal.

31. Reconciliation/Aussöhnung – Germany
Ausstellung und Lesung
Vom 29.8.-3.9.2010 fand im Elisenturm im Botanischen Garten in Wuppertal eine Ausstellung
von Acryl- und Aquarellbildern statt unter dem Titel "Landschaften des Herzens" von Bärbel
Schmidt-Dudda. Sie sind Teil ihres Buches "Seelenstern". Darin beschreibt die Autorin Wege
der Aussöhnung des Menschen mit sich selbst, der Natur und allen Geschöpfen, den
Mitmenschen und mit Gott.
Zu Beginn der Ausstellung am 29.8.2010 fand um 16 Uhr eine Lesung statt. Zur Begleitung
spielte ein junger Musikstudent der Wuppertaler Musikhochschule auf seiner Gitarre. Das
Thema Reconciliation stand im Vordergrund: Z.B. Brücken bauen - Frieden leben;
Dialogbereitschaft - Einheit in der Vielfalt; Bewußtseinserweiterung und Kollektivgefühl; Worte
mit versöhnlichem Klang; Sprache des Herzens u.v.m. Im Anschluss daran entwickelten sich
noch lebhafte Gespräche, wobei auch die Gemälde eigene Impulse setzten.
Im Laufe der Woche ergaben sich immer wieder interessante Gespräche mit Besuchern der
Ausstellung. Der kleine Raum war so gestaltet, dass Besucher dort verweilen, schauen und

lesen konnten. Großes Interesse fand auch die Dokumentationsmappe aller Projekte vom
Reconciliationjahr 2009.
Am 5.11.2010 fand in der Buchhandlung in Sprockhövel eine Lesung und Ausstellung von
Bärbel Schmidt-Dudda zum Thema Aussöhnung Reconciliation-Jahr 2009 statt.Dort wurden
Acryl- und Aquarellbilder ausgestellt, die als "Landschaften des Herzens" ein Teil des Buches
"Seelenstern" von Frau Schmidt-Dudda sind. Darin geht es um Aussöhnung des Menschen mit
sich selbst, der Natur und allen Geschöpfen, den Mitmenschen und mit Gott.
Zu Beginn der Lesung stellte die Autorin einen Bezug zu "Reconciliation" her, im besonderen
zum internationalen Jahr der Versöhnung 2009. In einem Teil des Buches nimmt sie Stellung zu
den Seligpreisungen aus dem Matthäus-Evangelium (Lutherbibel). Nachdem ein Kapitel
daraus vorgelesen wurde, ergab sich ein konstruktives Gespräch, in dem es um den Transfer
der Aussagen für das tägliche Leben ging.

31. Reconciliation – Exhibition and Reading
Between 29th of August and 3rd of September 2010 Bärbel Schmidt-Dudda had an exhibition
of her acrylic and water colour paintings under the title “Landscapes of the Heart” in the
Elisenturm of the Botanic Garden in Wuppertal. The paintings are part of her book “Star of the
Soul”, in which she describes possible ways of reconciliation with ourselves, nature and all
creatures, fellow men and with God.
The exhibition opened with a reading. The focus was on the subject of reconciliation such as to
build bridges – to live peace; readiness for dialogue – unity in diversity; expansion of
consciousness and collective sense; words with a conciliatory tone, language of the heart etc.
In the course of the week there were several interesting discussions with the visitors of the
exhibition. The documentation folder of all projects of the International UN Reconciliation Year
2009 was also met with great interest.
On 5 th of November 2010 a reading and exhibition of Bärbel Schmidt-Dudda’s paintings on the
subject of reconciliation took place in the book store at Sprockhövel .
At the beginning of the reading the author made a reference to reconciliation, in particular to the
International UN Year of Reconciliation 2009. In her book she takes a position on the Beatitudes
in Matthew's Gospel. After a chapter had been read out, there was a constructive conversation
which involved the transfer of the statements for the everyday life.
33. Reconciliation, Cultural Revival Uganda
and Women Empowerment
Specific’s objectives of the Project are:
• To improve economic livelihood of 150 women and their families through provision of 1700
Banana Suckers, 3000 Pineapples suckers and 2000 papaw seedlings as sustainable source of
income-generation.
• To provide leadership training for increased decision-making skills, support goats rearing
project, organize (2) trainings in Acholi cultural approaches to reconciliation and (2) symposium
for returnees, cultural leaders and GRG members within the three Districts.
• To support Eight (8) areas land committees in traditional Justice System and provide 16
bicycles to facilitate their work at the grassroots level. Of the approximately 1500 beneficiaries,
approximately 75% are female, while 25% are male persons. Of the approximately 450 direct
beneficiaries, 250 men and women were Ex - LRA combatants
The Project will be implemented by Grassroots Reconciliation Group (GRG) through its 17 groups of
returnees intermixed with host community in Northern Uganda within a period of 12 Months. Initially the
project is planned for twelve months, although the issues to be addressed would necessitate that the
Project continue beyond one year – refer to problem statement below, for details. GRG has so far
implemented livelihood and reconciliation Projects for approximately four years.
Northern Uganda’s protracted conflict has led to the deterioration of livelihoods and has bred mistrust
among communities, specifically towards former child soldiers from the rebel group, the Lord’s Resistance
Army (LRA). There is a growing need for people to rebuild the social-economic make-up of their
communities to avoid structural violence amongst and against former child soldiers /combatants. One of
the greatest hindrances to this peace-building process is the inability to purchase start-up capital for
income-generating activities at the grassroots level.

After over 20 years of life in camps as a result of the LRA captivity of the Acholi population in Northern
Uganda, most Traditional Authorities had experiences that degenerate their Authority; many renowned
elders died, some of those who remained lacked the capacity to deal with the war and other cultural
problems presented to them. This powerlessness resulted in a reduction of their hitherto legitimacy among
the current returning population. As a result, the Acholi Cultural tradition/ norms and practices were fully
eroded. The physical setting of displacement also had a significant negative bearing on the traditional /
cultural leaders. The camps presented a general collapse of the spatial ordering that regulated the Acholi
Societal norms. This led to a total breakdown in the traditional societal safety nets; leaving elders / cultural
leaders, without the ability to enforce their decisions or guide the community.
Today Northern Uganda is emerging from two decades of aggravated conflict with far reaching postconflict
challenges. These range from broad socio-economic breakdown to cultural and psycho-social
conflicts at the community and individual levels. The social structures of the Acholi society have been
fundamentally degraded leading to a situation of widespread abuses of cultural norms, and human rights
violations against women across the region. There has been a growing need to rebuild the social
structures of the Acholi in northern Uganda to avoid re-emergence of similar conflict. The capacity of
people at the grassroots level to handle their own affairs has been eroded by the war that confined a
whole generation to a life in camps, thus severely undermining the Acholi Cultural tradition, livelihood
means and human rights.
At present a significant problem in northern Uganda lies in peace-building at the grassroots level and
reintegration of the ex-combatants, women and youth who are trying to forge life on indigenous land after
20 years in camps across Northern Uganda. The need for reconciliation and reintegration between
formerly abducted persons of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and their communities is a challenge to
the traditional authorities. One of the main problems is that the current interventions both by the state and
civil society generally lack processes by which grassroots communities can be able to engage in a
thoroughgoing manner, with their accumulated grievances on both conflict and poverty issues, so as to
respond for them and develop capacities to overcome them.

The impressive S.E.R. Prize-Award Ceremony of the United Nations International Reconciliation
Year 2009 took place at the Congress and Culture Centre in Berne, Switzerland, on August 7 th
2010. More than 100 guests of honour from all over the world attended the Award Ceremony
where the importance of reconciliation in today’s life was emphasized forcibly. Musical
contributions by various artists and singers framed the event.

According to the S.E.R. Action Plan, designed for the United Nations International Reconciliation
Year 2009, and in support of the eight Millennium Development Goals twelve outstanding peace
projects were honoured at the S.E.R. Award Ceremony. They were chosen out of 157 registered
projects from 22 countries. Projects are listed down under www.global-balance.org.
On behalf of the Foundations for Subjective Experience and
Research, S.E.R., Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland, Mrs.
Rita Jakob opened the ceremony and indicated that only
readiness for reconciliation can open the way for Peace, Order
and Justice.
Mr. Wilfried Lemke, the Special Adviser to the Secretary-
General on Sport for Development and Peace at the UN
stressed in his speech how a reconciliation-based co-existence
can be promoted through sports.
The projects were submitted in the following four categories: a)
political, social and economic projects; b) creative projects; c)
educational and athletics projects ; d) spirituality and health care
projects.
A) Political, Socio-Economic Projects
Pakistan: The Voice (Nr. 28)
The organzisation provides help for those who are unable to help themselves i.e. orphans,
handicapped children and street children in particular. The assistance includes educational
training, health and social programmes. They also work for the rights of women in Pakistan,
offering them free access to legal aid.
Representative was Mr. Karl Hafen, International Society for Human Rights, Germany.
Palestine National Authority: Peace Week in Beit Jala (Nr. 97)
The Peace Week in Beit Jala was organized by the „Children of Abraham“, consisting of
Christians, Muslims and Jews, who are aspiring to peace and aiming at enhancing peace
processes between Israel and Palestine. There were different events, with the peace march
representing the highlight of this week, in which Christian, Muslim and Jewish clerics walked arm
in arm through the streets of Beit Jala, a small town near Bethlehem.

Serbia and Montenegro: Belgrade Summit 2009 (Nr. 159)
The summit promoted the existing regional initiative for the establishment of the Regional
Commission for Truth-Seeking and Truth-Telling about War Crimes, thus demanding an
admission of war crimes by the policy. A declaration was set up calling among other things for
the support of establishing the Regional War Crimes Facts Commission, which was sent to all
institutions concerned in the Western Balkans and in the European Union.

B) Category: Creative Projects
Argentina : Neighbourhood meetings – Teatro La Luna, Cordoba (Nr. 103)
The Teatro La Luna works especially with children and young people who, to a large extent, live
on the streets. They learn things such as: acting, painting, drawing, juggling, carpentry and they
also get yoga lessons. In 2009 members of the Teatro La Luna visited about 100 families in their
houses, where stories were read to the residents, they sang together and listened to the stories

of the inhabitants. The aim was to enhance the dialogue within the family but also between the
inhabitants, to reduce aggressions and to promote respect and understanding for each other.

Scotland United Kingdom : Africa in Motion – Filmfestival and Symposium (Nr. 146)
The focus of the film festival in appreciation of the International Reconciliation Year 2009 was on
the subject of « trauma, conflict and reconciliation ». The symposium at the University of
Edingburgh was dedicated to « trauma through conflicts and wars of post-colonial African states,
and the efforts made by reconciliation committees to find truth, justice, reconciliation and
peace ». Representative was Mrs. Stefanie van de Peer.
Switzerland: Choir of the Nations (Nr. 160/163)
The Choir includes 80 members from 27 nations. The goal of the choir is to promote integration
and exchange through the medium of music. Members learn songs from their native countries
and from Switzerland, have common public performances at smaller or larger occasions. On
November 1 st 2009, the concert „Music for Peace“ took place at the onset of the „Week of
Religions.
Representative was Mr. Kurt Walter.
C) Educational/Athletic Projects
Germany: Eighths Aachener Run for Peace (32 – 37)
The motto was „Run for diversity – against violence and racism“. More then 4'200 children and
young people from 37 local schools participated. They wanted to live in a colorful, diverse and
tolerant city such as Aachen in which all people have the same rights and can live without fear.
Representative of the German Embassy in Switzerland was Councellor of embassy Mr. Otto
Schneider.
Switzerland: Future Leaders Forum (Nr. 128)
The Lassalle-Institute, Bad Schönbrunn, Switzerland, promotes zen, a culture of values, the
ethic of which is founded in their holistic approach. It is aimed at leaders in economic, political
and other areas. In 2009 the Future Leaders Forum was looking for answears « What leadership
qualities does mankind of the 21 st century need at a global level? They extended their perception
for psychology as well as the ancient traditions of East and West.
Representative was Mr. Ralf Steigüber, Head of Future Leaders Forum.
Switzerland: RadioChico „Daily on the Way and active on the Subject of Reconciliation
(Nr. 31)
RadioChico, a non-profit-making-internet radio, gives an opportunity to children and young
people to learn everything around broadcasting in mostly mobile studios. With their signing of
the code of Ethics, they undertake to publish constructive news only and to stand by journalistic
principles, such as responsible research, interviews and reports. During 2009 different personal
statements about forgiveness and reconciliation were collected. A selection of these interviews
was produced on a CD-Rom.

D) Spiritual / Health Care Projects
Burundi : The Reconciliation week at Mount Sion Gikungu (Nr. 90)
The Foundation Mariya Arafasha invited five young foreigners from Northern Ireland, Israel,
South Africa and the United States for the Reconciliation-Week at Mount Sion Gikungu in

Bujumbura. These young people reported on conflicts in their own countries and shared their
personal difficult experiences with reconciliation. This path is often not easy when, as a child,
you had to see how your own parents were killed. Each day was enriched through the
multifarious cultural events and religious ceremonies.

Siberia, Russia : Earth is our common Home (Nr. 101)
The project was organized by the „Siberian Centre of Eurasian Projects“, an organization which
is about to establish a network of international youth villages in the Altai Mountains and at the
Baikal Sea in Russia. In 2009 various events took place at different healing places such as in the
Altai Mountains, at the Baikal Sea etc. where people from all over Eurasia met, in order to
practice a peaceful coexistence, contribute to reconciliation between each other and with mother
earth. Representative was Mrs. Nina Goncharova from Siberia, Russia.
Morocco : Foster Health Care and Education of youngsters (Nr. 129)
The organizer of this project, called SUNSHOP, an association of medical doctors, taking care of
400‘000 people living in Morocco in poverty and very difficult health conditions. This project
aimed at about 2‘000 young people, in order to improve their situation in the areas of health,
sociality and economy. A group of about 100 young people was trained and passed on the
information to other youngsters.

has come to an end, the subject of reconciliation
will remain the challenge of our time. It is not enough
to make reconciliation the subject of a year.
It should be followed by a Decade of Reconciliation, thus ultimately bringing the whole new
Millennium under the sign of Reconciliation and enabling humanity to achieve the Millennium
Development Goals and worldwide peace.

REPORT OF RECONCILIATION ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR OF RECONCILIATION 2010
Reconciliation involves you and I. Reconciliation is a concept we can not put aside since the
world of today records various sorts of conflicts. Among conflicts, some are overt others coverts.

The overt conflicts sometimes manifest in wars (Civil wars) that victimise great numbers of
people, whether involved or not. Overt conflicts can also, and most of the times, manifest in
frictions between individuals or families, opposed by their opinions or caused by a given incident.
In all cases, victims are registered. Covert conflicts on the other hand does not manifest
externally. They need an incident to erupt. The experiences live a permanent hate towards one
another, with cut off relationships. Here, victims may be other persons than the ones involved
(like children, pets…).
Many attempts to solve conflicts have been done till today. National and/or International
commissions are set up to solve them, but since the belligerents do not reach the stage of
reconciliation, life in dignity and peace for all mankind is far to be achieved. To achieve this,
each individual should be involved and each single project to promote reconciliation is an
important contribution to global networking and one big step of the path to a life in dignity and
peace for all mankind.
It is in this perspective that, as an individual concerned and ready to contribute to Love and
Peace recovery, I have set up the project of visiting secondary schools and other public places
and preach Love, Unity, and Peace putting ahead Reconciliation through the presentation of my
Novel “Salvator-Sur le Sentier vers le village des Frères” recently published in Publibook,
Paris.
The story is built upon two main characters, Salvator and Mireille, who have been victimised by
ethnic conflicts that prevail in Burundi, but with determination succeeded to convince and
reconcile their families in permanent rivalry and thus fulfilled their desire to marry one another.
“Salvator” is a call to the youth especially, to transcend stereotypes, dig in the history of the
society and learn the truth to build the world upon Love, Unity and Peace, then create a “Village
of Brotherhood”.
Since May7th, 2010- the day I launched the book at the University of Burundi- to November
4 th ,2010 I have presented it in seven different places among which, five Secondary
Schools(Lycée Gikungu, October 14 th , 2010, Lycée Schepers on November 4 th , 2010, Lycée du
Lac Tanganyika on November5 th , 2010 and Lycée SOS on November 5 th , 2010pm), two public
places(Esprit de Sagesse Parish, on June 11 th ,2010, and at Mont Sion Gikungu, on June 20 th ,
2010 and at Radios and Television Stations (RTNB and Renaissance TV).

During those presentations, I have discovered that the youth are determined to leave out
stereotypes and build their happy future, a prosperous future. If not limited by means, I would
like to expand my initiative and cover the maximum average of schools, preaching Love, Unity
and Peace.

de l’environnement – Plantation d’arbres
REPORT OF THE ACTIVITIES FOR ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION REGISTERED AMONG
RECONCILIATION YEAR PROJECTS 2010
Reconciliation is the way to a solid Peace. To achieve this, people must be brought together
through various ways (sport, concert, conference, common activities…). This helps fluid contact
in an unusual environment that should bring people in conflict to get persuaded of their perdition
and eventually evolve to the level of reconciling each other.
Activities oriented in the protection of environment are some of those ones which have
potentiality of bringing people together. In fact, no one ignore the importance of protecting the
environment, since we are aware that the environment is life, and protecting it is then protecting
our life.
ASEPE (Association Ensemble pour la Protection de l’Environnement, or « Together for the
Protection of Environment » ) had organised a series of activities oriented in environment
protection, and registered them among the Reconciliation Year 2010 Projects. The central
activity was “the tree plantation along river Kamenge in Gihosha Commune (Bujumbura town)”.
The activity has been completed this Saturday, December 18 th ,2010, a National day dedicated to
Tree Plantation, closing then the National Environment Week inaugurated on December
13 th ,2010 (See enclosed the Week Program). The project has been achieved in synergy with
another organisation “APESEAU (Association pour la Protection de l’Environnement et des
Sources d’Eau)”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment.

The activities of the Environmental Week were dominated by the mobilisation, sensitisation of
people through programs on Radio Stations, visiting people on work especially in their farms,
and gathering them for sessions, with the objective: “Teach the population about why to protect
the Environment”.
The project has been successfully
achieved if we consider the participation of the population in all activities, since the beginning to
the end. An average of 150 persons during the week activities and about 300 persons on the
closing activity were present. They have saluted the project and would like us to pursue it.
We take profit to announce our next main projects: By 2015:
-all rivers crossing Gihosha Commune will have been protected with trees and special herb
species to sustain their banks;
-2/3 of hills where those rivers take place will have been planted with trees.
The reality has proved that “Man is the destroyer of himself”. In his insatiable quest to develop,
Man destroys his environment, provokes Climate Change and becomes the principal victim the
consequences. Who has not yet felt the pressure of those consequences? Wise people wonder
how the planet will be like in next few years. However, we should not lose our hope because we
still have time to change things. Let us be wise and implement in all our activities the project
related to environment protection, especially tree plantation. Our planet will be green again, and
green will be our life.

The Project for the International Reconciliation Day took place between the 5 th and the 12 th of
November. The children (30) and the Staff (11) were present every morning praying the prayer
of St. Francis and trying to understand and internalize its words and meaning.
This prayer reflects all the strong issues needed to be solved in the world of today, reconciliation
needed in the whole of the world. We need to learn to love and forgive and live the truth and
have faith and see the light and then reach others with our joy.

42. The Basic Computer Training for Women Pakistan
Lack of empowerment for women in a male dominated society and living in poverty stricken
conditions are well documented areas of concern in most regions of Pakistan. ‘The Noble Aims
Welfare Association’ (NAWA) believes that knowledge and skills that can be practically used as
key steps towards improvement and empowerment of women in their local community where
such conditions exist.
Access to computer training can assist in reducing sole dependency on male members of the
family and can provide an additional/alternative economic support thus taking important steps
towards reducing poverty. Using more updated, modern computers will enhance the productitivy
of the women and subsequently further strengthen their self confidence.for that NAWA conduct
the Basic computer classes for poor and needy peoples and for this NAWA collaborate with
NICE (NEXTECH Institute of Computer Education) in 2006.
Student of different institution and women of the local community living in extremely low socioeconomic
conditions who are solely dependent on the male members for economic support and
also including women who are unmarried, orphans and widows who do not have other economic
support available to them.
NAWA gave computer education to more than 1200 students, the whole expenses for this
project is managed by NAWA.

43. Trip to the Safari & Caesarea PNA/Palest. Nat. Auth.
The Holy Child Program organized a trip to Safari Park/Ramat Gan and Caesarea in Israel. For
the staff members and the children to cross the check points we must have an official document
from the Israelis. We had special help from two Israeli ladies who are members of the
organization “Women Against Check Points” They worked very hard with the official Israeli office
to make sure we have the papers and have an easy pass on the borders.
One of our children 16 years old did not have a permit as the rest , the Israeli Lades with the
program administrator worked very hard until late evening the day before the trip to get this child
his permit, and finally we had his permission so we can all go together.
In Caesarea we had a special invitation from Rachel, an Israeli lady who welcomed all our
children very warmly and she invited them to her coffee shop, served soft drinks and ice- cream.
On top of this she had prepared for each child and the staff a small gift The children thanked her
by singing a song.
The trip and the preparation and all the help from our friends from the other side of the
wall open our children to a new thinking of reconciliation.

44. MUSICAL PRESENTATION AT GATUMBA Burundi
CONCERT OF PEACE AND RECONCILIATION
In the same perspective of peace and reconciliation, the Holy Family Choir undertook a trip
towards Gatumba Parish (Rural Bujumbura), on Sunday 5 th of September 2010. The objective of
that visit was to perform a concert of peace and reconciliation that the choir began since 2007.
The concert of Gatumba was the 4 th after those presented in Gitega, Ruyigi and Kayanza
Why at Gatumba?
Gatumba is a border zone of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at about 30 Kilometers of
Bujumbura. This area receives many returnees from DRC where a good deal of refugees had
taken refuge during the severe moments brought about by the sociopolitical crisis since 1993. As
such, these returnees are inevitably in need of a message of peace and reconciliation so that
they might come to self-reassurance. Again, it cannot be ignored that this area used to constitute
a shelter for the ex-rebellion, PALIPEHUTU-FNL Movement, which finally signed the last
agreement of Ceasefire in Burundi.
Concert itself
The concert began just after a Holy Mass animated by the Holy Family Choir. Then, songs and
dances of peace and reconciliation were performed under the following theme: “Burundians,
love one another!”
The audience appreciated those songs and
dances of peace and reconciliation, given that
the Holy Family Choir was the first to present
such a concert there.
In the middle of the concert, the Parish Priest
Léonard Manirambona thanked the Holy Family
Choir to have chosen his Parish. He precised that
the concert brought a big contribution because his
Christians were not familiar with such kinds of
concerts.
The concert took an end in a very extraordinary
mood wherein different participants gathered in the reception. The speekers by different
authorities were held, all of them thanking the Holy Family Choir. Jean-Etienne Ndayizigiye

45. International Day for Tolerance Macedonia
This year, Civil organized the March for Tolerance under the slogan "Justice! Liberty!
Equality!" Following the rising intolerance between ethnic communities at one hand, and
political tensions between political parties on another, we issued a strong public appeal and
marched through the city on November 16.
We and our partners at the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights of RM, appealed to the
political parties, parliament, government, and the general public, calling for tolerance along
ethnic lines, as well as for political tolerance amongst political actors (parties) in the country. The
March was joined by several Members of the Parliament, Ombudsman's office, NGOs, and
diplomats (including H.E. Erwan Fouere, Head of EU Delegation, and H.E. Simone Filippini,
Ambassador of the Netherlands. Media coverage was huge and considerably fair. Civil has a
long-standing commitment to peace and tolerance in the country and the world.
In 2010 we have conducted several other projects such as: “Freedom is My Favorite Color”,
dedicated to human rights and tolerance education, through creative workshops, involving 1650
children and youth; “Rock for Peace and Friendship”, dedicated to inter-ethnic tolerance
amongst young Macedonians and Albanians in the country; “Arts Against Gun Violence”, a
national drawing contest and many other activities involving thousands of children, hundreds of
teachers, and hundreds of police prevention officers; several other events such as 21
September - International Peace Day, 2 October - International Nonviolence Day, etc.

46. Sewing Center for Helpless Women Pakistan
The 2010 Pakistan floods began in July 2010 heavy monsoon rains in the Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa, Sind, Punjab and Baluchistan regions of Pakistan and affected the Indus
River basin.
At one point, approximately one-fifth of Pakistan's total land area was underwater According to
Pakistani government data, the floods directly affected about 20 million people, mostly by
destruction of property, livelihood and infrastructure. In flood areas majority people have no
shelter, no food even they do not have basic necessities of life. It is our bad luck that in those
areas people did not send their daughter, sister to school and college for education so because
of illiteracy and unawareness of any technical skills they are unable to get any job.
These women and girls were belongs to very noble and respectable families and now after flood
those are suffering these troubles and crucial conditions. As they belongs to noble families so
they don, t want to take amount from other people as .......... and they do not want to leave their
areas ,they want to do something for basic needs of life, for their families and for their future.
But mostly girls and women are illiterate, poor and vulnerable and now they are doing laborer
work in nearby factories. Where they find low salaries and bad environment and face many
critical situations for their livelihood. There are no basic facilities for children, and because of this
they cannot provide them proper care. Now in those areas people are unable to send their
young girls to school due to poverty. Most of the families are formerly tenant farmers and
recently released from the jails of landlords. They do not have basic facilities of water, sanitation
or girls primary schools and need support .For women having to support their households, a
reliable source of income is crucial. However, as highlighted by several studies, there is a lack of
formal work opportunity for women living in these areas.
For helping theses women, we are designing a project in which we want to arrange a
place in flood effected areas. On that place we will provide them sewing machines,
embroidery machines and other raw material for making dress, we will hire some
teachers for training these girls and women. We will also provide them lunch during
working hours and arrange a day care center and play group and basic education for their
little children.
The aim of this project is to provide these women an opportunity to earn their living and and if
they will learn how to prepare dresses than by using this skills improve their living conditions .
Training will be given on three months and after that we will continue to this up to one year
initially after the completion of training women were given opportunity to work there and earn a
handsome amount for their living.
On one hand we gave training to women’s for dress making and at the same time those women
who already know the dressmaking and have sufficient skill of embroidery we gave them
opportunity to work at the sewing center and cloth they make we sold them in the market and
distribute the profit into them.
The one more objective of this project is this we can provide employment to those women /girls
who have ability to teach the other girls how to stitch dresses. The other objective of this project
we provide mental and physical relaxation to these women and give better care to their children.
After providing them employment, we will provide them basic education and basic awareness
through different workshops for improving their health and the education of their children..

Benefit of the project: As a result of this Sewing center, where the women can learn the new
ways and techniques of sewing through the skilled teachers. In this way they became skilled and
earn handsome amount of money and they will have no need to works in the others houses and
factories and can earn for heir family and themselves.
These women came to know how they can improve their standard of living and they can
play an important roll and can support their families.
Beneficiaries: Widows and girls living in extremely low socio-economic conditions they have no
source of income and do not have other economic support available to them.
Status of women will rise and there will be positive social change for them. These women
will be self –supportive and self -reliant, they will have earning power and skills for development.
Social life of women and children will reach higher level. All income generation activities
would be eco-friendly and sustainable. Children of these women would enjoy better
education, health and overall development leading to better citizens.
Development-policy objective of the project
Lack of empowerment for women and living in poverty stricken conditions are well documented
areas of concern in most regions of Pakistan. ‘The Noble Aims Welfare Association believes that
knowledge and skills that can be practically used are key steps towards improvement and
empowerment of women in their local community where such conditions exist.
Through this project women and young girls form poor families will be trained & skilled
and secure their future at their door step to get training and sewing their own cloths and
nearby families. Poor women will be able to earn the income of the family

47. Burundi-Sonntag mit Gottesdienst in Volketswil Switzerland
Am 1. Advent und Burundi-Sonntag stand ein neues Selbsthilfeprojekt im Mittelpunkt des
Gottesdienstes, welches die Kath. Pfarrei „Bruder Klaus“ in Volketswil über 5 Jahre unterstützen
wird. Die Brücke zum kleinen afrikanischen Land Burundi bildeten die in Kirundi vorgetragenen
Lieder, sowie die von einigen Aufnahmen begleitete Predigt mit Hinweisen zur Notwendigkeit
der Versöhnung mit der Natur und dem Ziel des „Herd- und Baumpflanzprojektes in Burundi“.
Damit 6 Millionen Burundier auch in Zukunft ein warmes Essen zubereiten können, braucht es
ein neues Umweltbewusstsein, Baumpflanzaktionen, veränderte Kochgewohnheiten unter
Einbezug von Solarkocher und effizienten Lehmöfen mit einer Holzreduktion von bis zu 90%.
Eine Schweizer-Arbeitsgemeinschaft, in der die S.E.R. Stiftung CH vertreten ist, bietet unter der
Leitung des Fördervereins für Solarkocher (FSK) eine Ausbildung in der Herstellung der Öfen
an, mit fachlicher Begleitung und finanzieller Unterstützung über 5 Jahre. Die Projektpartner des
Werkes „Neues Leben für die Versöhnung“ in Gitega nutzen inzwischen die Regenzeit für eine
erste Baumpflanzaktion. 21'000 Baumsetzlinge werden an 320 Witwen abgegeben und mit
ihnen in ihren Gärten gepflanzt, so dass sie deren Wachstum sorgsam begleiten können. Durch
die enge Zusammenarbeit erfahren die Familien Aussöhnung untereinander und mit der Natur!
Anschliessend waren die Anwesenden eingeladen zum Besuch des adventlich
geschmückten Bazars und zum Verweilen am gedeckten Tisch, an dem ein feines

47. Burundi-Sunday - Mass in Volketswil
It was the first of Advent in the Catholic Church “Bruder Klaus” in Volketswil.The main focus on
this Sunday Mass was the self help project for this little African land Burundi which will be
supported by the parish for the next 5 years. The songs during the Mass where sung in Kirundi,
accompanied by photo slides. In the sermon, we acquired information for the need of
reconciliation with nature and the purpose of the “Rocket-stoves- and Tree Plantation Project
in Burundi”.
A new environmental awareness is necessary in for the future to insure that 6 Million Burundians
can have access to a warm meal. This is possible with the project for solar cookers and of
course the very efficient clay ovens, which enables the reduction of timber being burned up to
90 %. A Swiss work group, of which the S.E.R. Foundation is represented, is training under the
guidance of the development association for solar cookers/Förderverein für Solarkocher (FSK)
the local people to build these ovens themselves and guaranteed financial help for the next 5
years.
At the moment the project partner “New Life for Reconciliation” in Gitega are taking advantage of
the rainy season for the first Tree Plantation Action. 21’000 tree seedlings are being sowed
together with 320 widows who will looking after them in there own individual gardens. So they
can together care for their growth and be witness of a growing reconciliation amongst their
families and with nature.
After Mass every-one was invited to visit the Christmassy decorated bazaar and to enjoy
the lunch cooked by the parishioners. All of which brought in the sum of CHF 5130.- that
went to the reconciliation and environment project.

Development in Egypt. A first core element of that work, finalized by December 2010, is a new
curriculum for a BSc in Sustainable Economics, Enterprise and Development (SEED). This

« …… Compte tenu de désertification qui s’observe ici et là sur les collines, une campagne de
sensibilisation de la population en vue de la plantation d’arbres tout en commençant par les
gens qui nous sont proches s’avère indispensable pour ne pas s’enfoncer d’avantage dans la
désertification.
Faire face aux problèmes, des propositions pour l’amélioration de la santé des personnes, pour
la protection de l’environnement et la réduction des dépenses ont été émises par des
spécialistes des fours améliorés. Selon leur analyse, une réduction sensible du gaz carbonique
(CO 2 ), de la quantité de bois de chauffage à utiliser s’observe grâce à l’utilisation de ces fours.
Il est vrai qu’avec le projet « Fours méliorés et plantation d’arbres au Burundi », on utilise très
peu d bois de chauffage par rapport à la méthode de cuisson traditionnelle.
Ainsi, l’Oeuvre Apostolique Vie Nouvelle pour la Réconciliation qui, en plus de 3 centres
d’accueil pour orphelins hébergeant en 285 personnes, encadre plus de 600 veuves réparties
dans les cellules ci -haut mentionnées dispose des atouts de réussite de ce projet car toutes
ces veuves sont sans moyens financiers pour l’achat de bois de chauffage, sans propriété
d’arbres pour couper et ont soif d’un autre système de cuisson qui réduirait la quantité du bois à
utiliser. Ainsi, elles acceptent qu’avec leur petites propriétés à leur disposition, elles peuvent y
planter d’arbres qui n’excluent pas d’autres cultures comme le grivélias, acacia et autres..
Tenant compte l’urgence de ce projet pour le salut de nombreux vies humaines et la protection
de l’environnement, nous recourons à la bienveillante générosité pour solliciter l’appui Suisse

50. Krieg und Flucht – Friedensweg im Switzerland
Appenzeller Vorderland im 100. Todesjahr von Henry Dunant
Rund 200 Menschen haben am Ostermontag im Appenzellerland gegen die
Unmenschlichkeit des Krieges demonstriert. Im Zentrum stand das Wirken des Rot-
Kreuz-Gründers Henry Dunant, der vor 100 Jahren in Heiden starb.
Die Theologin und Autorin Yvonne Steiner würdigte den Wandel Henry Dunants vom
«uneingeschränkten Bewunderer Kaiser Napoleons III» zum überzeugten Pazifisten. «Die
Franzosen brachten für ihn die Welt der Zivilisation; dass sie es mit kriegerischen Mitteln
taten, störte Dunant zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht», sagte Steiner am Montag in Heiden, wo Henry
Dunant die letzten 23 Jahre seines Lebens verbrachte. Dann wurde der Geschäftsmann aus
Genf selbst mit den Schrecken des Krieges konfrontiert.
Es war das Schlachtfeld von Solferino, das seine Meinung änderte. Am Abend des 24. Juni
1859 kam Dunant dort vorbei. Noch immer lagen dort nach den Kämpfen der Truppen
Österreichs gegen die von Piemont-Sardinien und Frankreich rund 40 000 Verwundete,
Sterbende und Tote. «Er sah das Leiden und er half spontan», sagte Steiner, die an einer
Biographie über den Friedensnobelpreisträger arbeitet. «Das führte ihn zu der Idee der
freiwilligen Hilfsgesellschaften für Verwundete im Krieg, dem heutigen Roten Kreuz.» Den

Grundstein legte Dunant 1863 in Genf. In Dunants letzten Jahren traf er mit der Lehrerin und
Friedensaktivistin Catharina Sturzenegger zusammen, die ab 1884 die Poststelle in Wolfhalden
führte. Wolfhaldens Gemeindepräsident Max Koch enthüllte für Dunants Mitstreiterin eine
provisorische Gedenktafel, die nach der Renovation der Fassade an der reformierten Kirche
befestigt werden soll.
Der von rund 30 kirchlichen und friedenspolitischen Organisationen organisierte Pilgerweg
«Krieg und Flucht» führte von Walzenhausen über Wolfhalden nach Heiden. Beat Zumstein,
Leiter des Durchgangszentrums für Asylsuchende in Wienacht, rief dazu auf, Flüchtlinge auch in
der Gegenwart nicht allein zu lassen. «Asylsuchende und Flüchtlinge haben oft ein grosses
Bedürfnis, etwas zu leisten, etwas zurückzugeben», sagte er. Dazu müsse man aber auf sie
zugehen, sagte Zumstein: «Machen Sie den Schritt auf Flüchtlinge unter uns zu.»

50. War and Flight – Peace March in the Appenzell region on the
occasion of the 100 th anniversary of Henry Dunant’s death.
A demonstration of about 200 people against the inhumanity of war took place in
Heiden/Appenzellerland on Easter Monday 2010. The focus of this demonstration was on
the work of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross, who died in Heiden 100 years
ago.
Yvonne Steiner, theologian and author, honoured Dunant’s change from an unqualified admirer
of Emperor Napoleon III to a convinced pacifist.” In Dunant’s opinion the French gave the world
civilization; that they did it with military means, did not bother him at that time”, said Steiner at
Heiden, where Dunant spent the last 23 years of his life. Then the business man from Geneva
was confronted with the horrors of war himself.
It was the battle ground of Solferino which changed his mind. On the evening of 24 th of June
1859 Dunant passed Solferino. There were about 40 000 wounded, dying and dead people. “He
saw the suffering and tried to help spontaneously”, said Steiner, who is working on a biography

of the Nobel Prize winner. This led him to the idea of voluntary relief societies for war wounded,
today’s Red Cross. The foundation for his project was laid in Geneva in 1863.
During his last years Dunant met with the peace activist and campaigner Catharina
Sturzenegger from Wolfhalden. For this reason Max Koch, mayor of Wolfhalden unveiled a
plaque to be attached to the façade of the Protestant Church in Wolfhalden.
The peace march “War and Flight” was organized by about 30 ecclesiastical and peace
organizations. Beat Zumstein, director of the transit centre for asylum seekers called on the
participants to help refugees and said “Do not leave them alone. They very often want to give
something back. Therefore it is necessary to approach them”, he said. “Take the first step
towards the refugees among us!”
51. Integrationsprojekt CHOR DER NATIONEN Switzerland
Im Jahre 2006 trat der erste CHOR DER NATIONEN als Integrationsprojekt des Kantons
Solothurn an die Öffentlichkeit. Es folgte ein vierjähriges Schaffen mit erfolgreichen Konzerten in
verschiedenen Schweizer Städten. Die Entstehungszeit des Chors der Nationen in Solothurn
wurde 2006-2007 von einem professionellen Team filmisch begleitet. Daraus ist ein
Dokumentarbericht entstanden, der die Grundlagen des Chors der Nationen offen legt. Der Film
wurde im Schweizer Fernsehen gezeigt
Nach einem gemeinsamen Konzert im KKL Luzern zur Eröffnung der Woche der Religionen
2009 wurde aus dem Luzerner Projektchor ebenfalls ein CHOR DER NATIONEN.
Die Idee, mit Musik und Menschen aus ganz unterschiedlichen Nationen, Kulturen und
Religionen etwas Gemeinsames zu schaffen, hat so viel Anklang gefunden, dass sich im Januar

2010 auch im Kanton Glarus ein CHOR DER NATIONEN Glarus gebildet hat. Nun gibt es 3
Chöre der Nationen: nämlich in Solothurn, Luzern und Glarus.
Jeder CHOR DER NATIONEN hat dasselbe Ziel:
Ein Chor zu sein für Menschen aller Sprachen und Kulturen, die miteinander das
Zusammenleben in sprachlich kultureller Vielfalt leben und verbessern möchten.
Im Rahmen der Woche der Religionen
wurden an den drei Standorten Konzerte
aufgeführt zu „Musik für den Frieden ll“.
Insgesamt waren es158 Sängerinnen und
Sänger aus 28 Nationen, die gemeinsam
mit Solisten und einem 30-köpfigen
Orchester musizierten. Der
Brückenschlag zur Schweiz wurde durch
den Gastchor „Jodlerclub Hasenmatte
Selzach“ bzw. in Glarus den „Jodlerclub
Glärnisch“ realisiert.
Da es inzwischen 3 Chöre der Nationen gibt, gibt es auch 3 Ansprechpartner. Der künstlerische
Leiter und Dirigent ist jedoch für alle drei Chöre Bernhard Furchner.
Integrationsziele:
Im Chor der Nationen wird gemeinsam gelernt. Interkultureller Dialog führt zu
interkulturellem, gemeinsamem Handeln. Wahrgenommene sprachlich kulturelle Differenz
verwandelt sich in ein gemeinsames soziales und kulturelles Erlebnis, das über das
Alltägliche hinaus geht. Heterogenität wird als Teil des Lebens wahrgenommen und der
erlebbare und der erlebbare gegenseitige Integrationsprozess positiv besetzt.

The first CHOIR OF NATIONS, being an integration project of the canton of Solothurn, appeared
before the public in 2006, followed by 4-years’ work with successful concerts in various Swiss
cities. The time of origin of the CHOIR OF NATIONS in Solothurn was documented by a
professional film team between 2006-2007, thus creating a documentary report which shows the
foundation of the CHOIR OF NATIONS. The film was shown in Swiss TV. After a joint concert
with the Lucerne project choir at the KKL, for the opening of the week of religions in 2009, a new
CHOIR OF NATIONS came into existence in Lucerne.
The idea of creating something together with music and people from different nations, cultures
and religions, found such a positive response, that another CHOIR OF NATIONS emerged in the
canton of Glarus in January 2010. Now there are 3 choirs of nations: in Solothurn, Lucerne and
Glarus.

All these choirs have the same intention: To be a choir for people of different languages and
cultures, who want to improve the co-operation and live together in linguistic and cultural
diversity.
During the “Week of Religions” concerts “Music for Peace ll” took place at all 3 sites with a
total of 158 singers from 28 nations playing music with soloists and a 30-member orchestra. The
bridging to Switzerland was made by a guest choir, the “Jodlerclub Hasenmatte Selzach” and
the “Jodlerclub Glärnisch in Glarus respectively.
As there are 3 choirs, there are 3 contact persons, the art director and conductor for all 3 choirs,
however, is Bernhard Furchner.
Integration objectives:
Intercultural dialogue leads to intercultural, joint action. Cultural and linguistic
differences are transformed into common social and cultural experiences going beyond
the usual ones. Heterogeneity is perceived as a part of life and the mutual integration
process has a positive connotation.

implemented, or just partially implemented. Violators hold important positions in the institutions,

whole public, disregarding decency and ethics. This behavior affects all segments of the society.
It is time to end ignorance about human rights and freedoms. It is time to speak up loud and
clear about deprivation of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Macedonia. Human
rights cannot wait for better times. Better times will never come if human rights are not fully
respected by everyone in favor of everyone.

Noel dans une Ambience de Paix et Réconciliation
CONCERT DES CHORALES SAINTE THERESE DE L’ENFANT JESUS ET SAINT MARTIN
EN COLLABORATION AVEC LA FONDATION MARIYA ARAFASHA (FMA) ET LE SOUTIEN
DE l’UNESCO EN DATE DU 24/12/10
Les chorales Sainte Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus et Saint Martin sont deux chorales parmi les six,
qui œuvrent au sanctuaire marial de Mont Sion Gikungu, constituées en grande partie par des
jeunes .Elles ont pris l’initiative d’organiser ce Concert de Noel dans le but de renforcer le
programme de « Paix et Réconciliation » entrepris par la FMA depuis 2007.
En date du 26-28 Mai 2010, la FMA avec l’appui financier de l’UNESCO avait organise un atelier
de renforcement des capacités en gestion des conflits en vue de l’édification d’une communauté
réconciliée.
Dans l’optique d’évaluer les participants de cet atelier, différents groupes furent constitués
et on leur demandait comment on pourrait organiser une activité pouvant aider les
cœurs à se récon-cilier. A la lumière de ce que nous venions d’étudier un groupe a
présenté un projet d’un concert au Mont Sion Gikungu.

Ces jeunes furent les pionniers du concert
qui fut exécuté la nuit sainte. Ils ont transmis
le projet à leurs chorales, puis à la FMA, et
celle-ci les a aidé à chercher le financement
et à bien exécuter le concert.
DEROULEMENT DU CONCERT: les invités avaient répondus massivement au rendez-vous.
On notera en particulier la présence des représentants de l’UNESCO à Bujumbura, ceux de la
FMA ainsi qu’une foule de gens avec une soif de découvrir ce qui leur avait été préparée par
deux chorales qui apparemment sont constituées de gens d’un rang social totalement différent.
Les uns sont principalement des jeunes gens et jeunes filles déscolarisés, travaillant dans les
ménages, alors que les autres sont des jeunes scolarisés natifs des quartiers chics de Mutanga
Nord et Gihosha.
Cette seule idée de s’être mis ensemble malgré les différences suscitait une curiosité de
beaucoup de personnes qui connaissaient les deux groupes, d’où une envie ardente de suivre
ce qui avait été préparé. Cette communion fut à vrai dire la première preuve que l’unité fait la
force et cette union n’étant possible qu’en temps de paix là ou les gens se sont réconciliées.
Les différents numéros présentés dans le concert cadrait bien avec le thème du jour
« NOEL DANS L’AMBIANCE DE PAIX ET DE RECONCILIATION ».
Parmi ce qui a été présenté on ne manquera pas de souligner les talents d’un enfant de la FMA
du nom d’Egide, qui a chanté une de ses chansons intitulée « UBUZIMA » (la vie), la créativité
et les talents d’acteurs du groupe des servants de messe dans leur sketch «Amatora arahera
ubuzima bukabandanya » (Après les élections, la vie continue). On ne pourra pas citer les
différentes chansons et les différentes danses qui étaient aussi agréables à écouter qu’à
contempler, ce qui prouvait le sérieux mis dans la préparation du spectacle.

La représentante de l’UNESCO ayant pris la parole n’a pas caché sa joie et sa sentiment
de satisfaction d’autant plus que ce concert était le fruit de l’atelier que l’UNESCO avait
financé. Elle a aussi souligné que ce serait bien que les conseils véhiculés à travers les
différents numéros soient pratiqué dans la vie de tous les jours pour que ça puisse avoir des
fruits visibles et profitables a toute la société burundaise. Elle a aussi précisé que les projets
qu’ils peuvent financer sont nombreux dans ce cadre de paix et de réconciliation interpellant

Prévention, Gestion et Transformation des conflits
Rapport de l’atelier sur les «Techniques de Prévention, Gestion et Transformation des
Conflits en vue de l’édification d’une Communauté paisible, prospère et réconciliée»
tenue du 26 au 28 mai 2010 à Mont Sion Gikungu
Cet atelier, en faveur de 29 représentants de différents groupes et clubs culturels et des
membres du service d’écoute psycho-spirituelle de la Fondation Mariya Arafasha, a pu être
organisé avec l’appui de l’UNESCO. Le Bureau de l’UNESCO au Burundi se tient dans le cadre
de la mise en œuvre des initiatives relatives à l’Année Internationale 2010 du rapprochement
des cultures.

Les participants se sont présentés
tour à tour avant de commencer les thèmes de formation de l’atelier.
L’atelier est venu contribuer à dissiper les amalgames nés des ignorances, des préjugés et des
exclusions qui engendrent tensions, insécurité, violence et conflits. Les thèmes abordés pendant
les trois jours de l’atelier ont servi à promouvoir le dialogue et la connaissance réciproque, à
favoriser le respect pour la culture de l’autre, et essayer de briser les barrières qui bloquent
l’ouverture à l’autre.

L’objectif global de l’atelier était de contribuer à l’édification d’une communauté paisible,
prospère et réconciliée et au rapprochement culturel dans la diversité sociale.
Après les cérémonies de remise les 34 certificats aux participants, Madame Joséphine
NTAHOBARI déléguée de l’UNESCO, a prononcé un mot de clôture de l’atelier. Elle a d’abord
remercié les formateurs, les participants sans oublier les responsables de la FMA. Tout au long
de son discours, elle a toujours souligné l’importance de la culture. Elle a également souhaité la
formation continue de ce groupe qui venait de terminer les travaux de cet atelier car 3 jours sont
insuffisants à voir l’importance thème. Elle a proposé le renforcer des capacités du groupe qui
venait d’être formé, identification et formations des formateurs ; faire le plaidoyer sur la culture.
Elle a même souhaité que la formation puisse se faire en kirundi car l’UNESCO milite en faveur
de la langue maternelle.
Elle a terminé son discours en remerciant encore une fois le Représentant Légal de la Fondation
Mariya Arafasha et en souhaitant que cette fondation aille toujours de l’avant. L’UNESCO
restera toujours à côté de ladite Fondation a-t- elle conclu.
Conclusion
Les participants ont été satisfaits du contenu de tous les thèmes qui ont été développés pendant
l’atelier. En général les différents résultats attendus ont été atteints. Les représentants des
différents groupes d’animation et des clubs culturels, des différentes chorales et services ont été
formés sur la prévention, la gestion et la transformation des conflits où les notions de la
compréhension et l’analyse des conflits, les méthodes de résolution des conflits et l’intégration
de la diversité culturelle dans le programme de paix et développement et l’élaboration des
projets ont été appréhendées. Les jeunes et adultes participants ont pris l’engagement de
pérenniser les acquis de l’atelier et contribuer à l’édification d’une communauté paisible et
réconciliée par une culture de dialogue, d’unité, de tolérance et d’acceptation mutuelle.

55. « Nawe N’uze »Toi aussi tu es le bien venu Burundi
Il s’agit des groupements de soutien aux familles pauvres ayant en charge des orphelins et
autres enfants vulnérables. Leurs membres réalisent en commun des activités génératrices. Ils
s’entraident mutuellement en se prêtant de l’argent grâce au système de tontines d’épargne et
de crédits généralement dénommé « Nawe N’uze ». Ce mot peut se traduire de deux manières :
soit comme un souhait que l’on adresse à quelqu’un, c'est-à-dire « toi aussi, tu es le bienvenu »
ou alors comme une invitation à rejoindre son groupe : « viens avec nous ! »
Les groupements Nawe n’Uze constituent un puissant moteur de promotion de la solidarité et de
la réconciliation entre les membres de la communauté tout en permettant l’amélioration des
conditions de vie des personnes les plus vulnérables à commencer par les orphelins. Ils
permettent aux populations d’œuvrer ensemble pour lutter contre la pauvreté et de subvenir aux
besoins élémentaires de leurs familles.
Ils constituent également un cadre de protection des enfants vulnérables et de préventions des
conflits sociaux. Ainsi, par exemple, les membres de ces groupements veillent à ce que tous les
enfants soient enregistrés à l’état civil. Ils font également de la médiation pour résoudre les cas
de litiges fonciers pouvant opposer leur voisin, ou pour résoudre les cas de violences conjugales
qui sont toujours fréquents au Burundi.
Actuellement, il y a près de 407 groupements Nawe N’uze comptant 10’175 membres.
Ceux qui sont les plus entreprenants sont référés vers l’Institution de Microfinance « DUKUZE
IBIBONDO » (faisons grandir nos enfants) qui leur donnent des crédits pour monter leurs
propres affaires et de sortir progressivement de l’état d’extrême pauvreté dans lequel ils se
trouvent.
Augustin, le Président du Groupement « Akimuhana Kaza imvura ihise » 1 a perdu son
bras droit durant la guerre. Depuis, son combat est de réconcilier les gens par le ravail
en commun.

Ils font la promotion de la réconciliation sur base de choses concrètes, en travaillant également
pour le développement de leur communauté. Ainsi par example, les 50 membres du groupement
« Akimuhana kaza imvura ihise », ou du partager entre eux un montant de 20 000 000 de Fbu,
soit 8 000 USD, provenant des bénéfices réalisés par leur activité génératrice de revenue qu‘ils
ont réalisé ensemble in 2010.

56. Un enfant intégré dans le développement Burundi
« Travailler pour un monde digne des enfants et solidaire avec les personnes vulnérable » voilà
la mission que s’est donnée AMADE Burundi pour la décennie 2010. Pour arriver à un monde
digne des enfants, elle s’est donnée pour objectif de travailler avec les personnes vulnérables
pour les aider à sortir de la pauvreté tout en mettant les enfants aux centres de cette nouvelle
approche. En effet, la pauvreté est un déni de tous les droits, c’est un vecteur de tension social
et une cause profonde des guerres qui ont endeuillé le Burundi. En amenant les gens à travailler
ensemble pour un idéal commun, l’on créé également un intérêt commun et une autre façon
d’envisager de vivre en parfaite harmonie, en respectant les droits et la dignité de chaque
personne et en travail pour l’intérêt social, car la pauvreté est une souffrance commune à la
population burundaise, et elle n’appartient à aucune ethnie ni sensibilité politiques.
Les enfants sont l’avenir du pays, dit-on. Ainsi, le développement du pays doit leur
donner priorité. Malheureusement ils sont souvent oubliés.
C’est fort de cette compréhension que FVS/AMADE a décidé de passer de l’humanitaire vers le
développement. Car, en travaillant pour le développement, on œuvre sûrement pour un avenir
meilleur non seulement pour les orphelins seuls mais aussi pour les familles entières. De ce fait,
on renforce la cohésion sociale en faveur des personnes vulnérables et on traduit dans la réalité
la devise de l’AMADE Burundi selon laquelle « un enfant appartient à la société toute entière ».
Pour cela, priorité sera donnée à l’autonomisation des familles d’accueil des OEV. En effet, les
familles tutrice qui font face à des situations d’extrême pauvreté sont toujours accaparées par la
stratégie de la survie, ce qui fait qu’elles ne pourront jamais assurer l’avenir de leurs enfants.
Elles seront donc toujours en attente d’un appui extérieur, sans pouvoir mettre à profit leur
potentiel. Ainsi, la création par l’AMADE de DUKUZE IBIBONDO Microfinance, une Institution de
Microfinance dédiée aux familles et communautés de base prenant en charge des OEV, s’inscrit
dans cette logique d’intervention. C’est également dans cette logique que l’AMADE Burundi est
entrain de créer des mutualités de santé afin de faire soigner toutes les personnes, y compris
les orphelins et les indigents qui manquent de moyens pour se faire soigner.
Enfin, une école d’excellence est entrain d’être créée. Elle permettant de donner une formation
de qualité avec des valeurs de solidarité, de respect d’autrui à la jeunesse, y compris les enfants
des familles pauvres afin qu’ils deviennent des responsables de demain, soucieux du
développement de leur pays et sensibles aux problèmes des personnes en situation difficile.

57. BIENVENU CHER ENFANT Burundi
Le projet vise la réunification familiale des enfants séparés de leurs familles durant la guerre
en fuyant les massacres ou des enfants ayant perdu les parents et ne connaissant pas leurs
origines. D’autres encore sont des enfants qui naissent hors mariages et qui ne sont pas
reconnus par leur père. Parmi ces derniers se trouvent des enfants nés de militaires ou
anciens combattants qui étaient soit de passage, soit installés de façon temporaire dans la
région.
Ces enfants sont souvent victimes de maltraitance et d’exploitation par les familles d’accueil.
Beaucoup d’entre eux sont contraints de travailler dans des conditions abusives, dans des
situations de violence physique, de violence sexuelle et de rejet.
Certains des enfants visés par la réinsertion. Ils vivaient dans des familles qui les
exploitaient et les maltraitaient. Maintenant, ils ont retrouvé de vrais familles, qui vont les
eléver avec amour dans un environnement épanouissant pour ces enfants.
Le projet visait la recherche et la réinsertion familiales de ces enfants. Lorsque la famille retrouvée
refuse de reconnaître l’enfant ou de l’accueillir, des actions en recherche de paternité sont
menées, soit par voie de médiation, soit devant les tribunaux pour le compte de l’enfant renié.
Ainsi, sur les 799 OEV recensés, la FVS/AMADE a permis 300 enfants de retrouver et d’être
réinsérés dans leurs familles d’origine et de vivre dans un milieu familial aimant et respectueux de
ses
droits.
Ce projet a beaucoup contribué à réconcilier les familles avec elles mêmes. Une étude de
cas pour illustrer la situation dans laquelle se trouvent beaucoup de ces enfants :
NIYONKURU J Marie a perdu son père à l’âge de 2ans et sa mère à 8ans. Il a par après été élevé
par l’oncle de son père à Gishubi en province GITEGA. L’enfant menait une vie malheureuse même
si son tuteur ne manquait pas de quoi le nourrir. L’enfant subissait une maltraitance et un jour, on a
versé sur lui de l’eau bouillante. Ainsi, grâce à l’intervention de l’AMADE Burundi, l’enfant a été
placé chez un nouveau tuteur sans lien de parenté mais qui a eu pitié de lui. Les membres des
comités de protection de l’enfant ont fini par retrouver le grand père l’enfant qui cherchait toujours
où se trouver son petit fils pour le récupérer son petit fils. Avec l’aide de l’AMADE Burundi, ils ont
organisé la réinsertion de l’enfant chez son grand père qui vivait dans une autre province. Ce
dernier a accueilli avec joue son petit fils et il a dit aux personnes qui l’accompagné : « vous venez
de me donner d’autres Les membres des CPE, après avoir mené des contacts avec MIBURO
Mathieu son Grand père vivant à mes vieux jours d’autres joies à vivre !
L'enfant a été inscrit à l’école primaire et vit dans une famille qui bien que pauvre et vulnérable

58. La Semaine des religions, 2 - 8 novembre 2010 Suisse
La Semaine des religions rencontre toujours plus de succès !
Près de 180 manifestations ont eu lieu pendant cette Semaine des religions 2010 qui s’est
déroulée la première semaine de novembre pour la quatrième année consécutive. Dans
les villes plus particulièrement, mais aussi dans les campagnes, des églises, des communautés
religieuses, des plateformes interreligieuses et des associations culturelles ont invité les
citoyens à des rencontres, des portes ouvertes et autres activités. De nombreux visiteurs ont été
attirés cette année par la Nuit des religions, le samedi 6 novembre, à Berne, faisant de cette
soirée un moment de partage inoubliable.

La Semaine des religions promeut l’échange entre les êtres humains de toutes les
appartenances religieuses. Pendant quelques jours, les religions sont au centre des
discussions. Les Alévis, les Bahaï, les Bouddhistes, les Chrétiens (des trois églises nationales),
les Hindous, les Juifs les Musulmans et les Sikhs dialoguent sur cette plateforme interreligieuse
qui tend à devenir une tradition.
La Semaine des religions est largement soutenue. Deux anciens conseillers fédéraux et d’autres
personnalités appartiennent au comité de patronage. Au niveau local, les délégués des bureaux
d’intégration cantonaux, les commissions des églises et des plateformes interreligieuses, ainsi
que les églises nationales participent ensemble en organisant des activités dans leurs régions

espectives. Au niveau national, la Semaine des religions est coordonnée par la communauté de
travail interreligieuse IRAS COTIS.

1 Background
In the year 2007, 65% of the population in Switzerland considered themselves to be Catholic or
Protestant. 20% did not belong to a religious group. 15% were followers of other religious faiths.
One generation ago these numbers were different. In everyday life and in the media, people
often speak of religions in a polarizing manner. During the Week of Religions, we want to focus
on religion in a different manner: as power which can unify. That is our contribution to religious
peace.
2 First Experiences
The Week of Religions is a plateform for encounters between people of differing religious
beliefs. It took place for the first time in 2007. Four years later, there were in all regions of
Switzerland 150 – 180 events – cultural occasions, mutual visits, inter-religious prayers.
That should be the same in the future.
3 Everyone who is interested in Religions and Cultures is invited
Schools, clubs, municipalities or communities can make a contribution and profit from the
experiences of others and the publicity of the Week of Religions. IRAS COTIS is coordinating
the activities. Around 125 collective members are associated with our inter-religious work group,
among them communities from the following religions: Alevis, Baha'i, Buddhism, Christianity,
Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism.
4 What do do, how to proceed?
Everything begins with the decision „yes, we will participate!“ Suggestions for events can be

YMCA - YWCA Journey for Justice Program 2010
Journey for Justice is an annual program that brings together youth from YMCAs and YWCAs
all over the world to experience and share the occupation with Palestinian youth. For ten days,
they join Palestinian youth and travel around Israel and Palestine to witness the effects of Israeli
occupation.
The challenging program aims to witness and accompany Palestinian youth in their daily life.

Youth leaders, from various YMCA and YWCA movements in the world came together in a
challenging 10-day program. More than 40 youth participants came from the World YWCA,
YMCA of Argentina, YWCA of Sri Lanka, YMCA of Sri Lanka, YMCA-YWCA of Sweden, YMCA-
YWCA of Denmark, together with the Palestinian YMCA-YWCA JAI youth leaders.

• Home stays with Palestinian host families
• Passing through checkpoints together
• Witnessing the various EJ YMCA and YWCA of Palestine programs in action and during

61. Weihnachtsfeier für Waisenkinder – South Africa
Christmas Party for Orphans
Am Weihnachtstag nach dem Gottesdienst in der Kirche hatten wir hier auf der Missionstation
St. Josef in Richmond eine fröhliche Party für etwa 120 Waisenkinder. Alle freuten sich über die
Geschenklein und den Imbiss.
Die „Usizo Voluntary Group“ war wiederum sehr behilflich, so dass die Waisenkinder für einen
Tag richtig verwöhnt wurden.
Ihr Alltag ist ja oft schwer genug, da sie einen oder gar beide Elternteile durch Unruhen oder
Krankheit verloren haben. Gott sei Dank sind die schweren politischen Unruhen in Richmond ein
Ding der Vergangenheit. Es ist ruhig hier, aber ein Grossteil der Bevölkerung leidet unter
grosser Armut.
Die Kinder spüren, dass sie geliebt werden und zur Gemeinschaft gehören. Sie erfahren die
Freude der Versöhnung, was ihr Selbstbewusstsein stärkt und sie zum Dialog befähigt. Sie
brauchen diese Kraft um erfolgreich zu sein in der Schule und im Alltag.

62. Weihnachtsbesuch bei den Roma in Graz Austria
Sehr viele Angehörige der ethnisch-kulturellen Minderheit der Roma sind sowohl aufgrund
ihrer ethnischen Zugehörigkeit als auch aufgrund ihrer sozialen Situation gesellschaftlich
ausgegrenzt.
Am 22.12.2010 besuchten wir Roma Familien in Graz, die in sehr ärmlichen Verhältnissen
leben.
Wir brachten Zucker, Öl, Süßigkeiten und Socken für die Familien, die zum Teil fünfköpfig auf
kleinstem Raum zusammenleben. Wir spürten Dankbarkeit, aber auch große Verwunderung der
Roma, dass jemand sie besuchen kommt.
Mit großer Dankbarkeit im Herzen, zu Weihnachten andere beschenken zu dürfen, verließen wir
die Familien.

Numerous members of the ethnic-cultural minority of the Roma are socially excluded due to their
ethnicity and because of their social situation.
On 22 nd of December 2010 we went to see Roma families living in very poor conditions. We
brought them sugar, oil, sweets and socks for their families who sometimes consist of 5 persons,
living together in very close proximity. We noticed gratitude but also astonishment on the part of
the Roma at the fact that somebody had come to visit them.
We left the families with gratitude in our hearts as we had been allowed to give Christmas
presents to others.

Der Round Table wurde von der S.E.R. Stiftung einberufen, um Impulse in das weltweit
wachsende Netzwerk des Frieden und der Versöhnung zu setzen.
Insgesamt 25 TeilnehmerInnen befassten sich mit dem Thema der Aussöhnung.
Impulsreferate von NGO-Vertretern, die Aussöhnungsarbeit im konkreten Leben leisten,
inspirierten uns, darüber nachzudenken, wie wir Reconciliation in allen Facetten des Lebens
(privat, politisch, ökonomisch, ökologisch....) umsetzen können.

Damit der Menschheitstraum einer Weltgemeinschaft der Einheit, des Friedens und der
Ordnung wahr werden kann, ist der Weg der Versöhnung das optimale Ideal.
Pater Alexander Jernej (Vinzentiner-Gemeinschaft) erzählte wie der Heilige Vinzenz von
Paul mit sehr viel Großmut und Mitgefühl den Menschen in Frankreich im 17. Jhdt. geholfen
hat, indem er Organisationen für Kranke und Arme ins Leben rief, die bis heute aktiv sind.
Der heilige Vinzenz von Paul war ein kreativer Versöhner. Er hat in der damaligen Zeit die

Dr. Christian Kuhn (ICCPPC) ist seit 30 Jahren in der Gefangenen-Seelsorge tätig und
auch Vorsitzender des ICCPPC- International Commission of Catholic Prison Pastoral Care.
In der Gefangenen-Seelsorge ist es oft gefragt, Idealismus und Realität zusammen zu bringen.
Es geht darum, sich zuerst der Realität bewusst zu werden, anzuerkennen, was man getan hat.,
um von da sich mit seinem eigenen Leben zu versöhnen. Versöhnung kann nicht erzwungen
werden, es benötigt eine Gerechtigkeit auf gleicher Augenhöhe. Spiritualität ist in diesem
Kontext eine Notwendigkeit, wobei in ärmeren Ländern die Seelsorger oft auch materielle Nöte
der Gefangenen lindern helfen. Zur Anerkennung der Realität gibt es viele theoretische Modelle
aus der Wissenschaft. Das Buch von Thomas A. Harris „Ich bin o.k.- Du bist o.k.“ ist hilfreich.
Die gegenseitige Wertschätzung und Respekt ist ein Milieu der Versöhnung.
Ing. Mag. Roland Leithenmayr (Society for the Advancement of Global Understanding)
sprach über die soziale Verantwortung der Menschen und der Versöhnung als
Konfliktlösung. Er berät Firmen, wie sie Profit, Planet, People (tripple Bottomline), also
ökonomische, soziale, und Umwelt - Aspekte umsetzen können. Früher galt Business for
Business (Geschäft für Geschäft), da war das Überleben der Firma das Wichtigste. Die
wirtschaftlich soziale Verantwortung hat sich langsam wie folgt entwickelt: in dem die
Firmen sich zuerst mit Spenden, dann in der sozialen Wertschöpfungskette engagierten und
jetzt ihre Rolle als positive Co-Designer in der Politik einnehmen. Nach Roland Leithenmayrs
Ermessen sollte Nachhaltigkeit in der Verfassung verankert werden.

sprach über die Herausforderung der Versöhnung auf verschiedenen Ebenen.

in kleinen Runden diese Idee besprechen zu können und damit das Bewusstsein für

worldwide network of peace and reconciliation.

A total of 25 participants dealt with the theme of reconciliation. Short presentations from NGO
representatives, who do reconciliation work in actual life, inspired us to think about how to
implement reconciliation in all facets of life (privately, politically, economically, ecologically...).

In order to realize the human dream of a world community of unity, peace and order, the
way of reconciliation is the optimal ideal.
Father Alexander Jernej (Vincentian Community) spoke about Saint Vincent de Paul and
how he helped the people of France in the 17th Century with generosity and compassion by
setting up organizations for sick and poor people, which are still active today. Saint Vincent de
Paul was a creative reconciler. He recognized the problems of that time, searching for solutions
according to the possibilities and capabilities of the people.
In his little instruction book is written:
* reconciliation is a grace of God
* Instead of preaching reconciliation, take steps towards reconciliation
Dr. Christian Kuhn (ICCPPC) has been working for 30 years in the pastoral care of prisoners
and is also chairman of the International Commission of ICCPPC-Catholic Prison Pastoral Care.
In the pastoral care of prisoners, it is often asked to bring idealism and reality together. The point
is to be aware of the reality in the first place, to acknowledge what one has done and then to
reconcile with one’s own life. Reconciliation cannot be enforced, it requires a justice on an equal
footing. Spirituality in this context is a necessity and in poorer countries the pastors often also
help to alleviate the material needs of the prisoners. In order to recognize the reality there are
many theoretical models from science. The book, "I'm OK, You're OK" by Thomas A. Harris is
helpful.
The mutual esteem and respect create an atmosphere of reconciliation.
Ing Mag Roland Leithenmayr (Society for the Advancement of Global Understanding)
spoke about the social responsibility of individuals and reconciliation as conflict resolution. He
advises companies how profit, planet, people (triple Bottomline), therefore economic, social and
environmental aspects can be implemented. Previously it was business to business, and the
survival of the company was the most important factor. The economic social responsibility has
gradually developed as follows: in the beginning the companies made donations, then they
participated in the social value chain and now they take their role as a positive co-designer in
politics. According to Roland Leithenmayr’s judgement sustainability should be anchored in the
Constitution.
Christopher Maehl, (Chairman Foundation Council Foundation SER D)
spoke about the challenge of reconciliation at various levels.

It would be desirable to organize Roundtables on the subject of reconciliation all over the
world in order to discuss these ideas in small groups, thus increasing the awareness for
reconciliation and enabling Reconciliation-Diplomacy to become a reality.

We are very grateful to Hasida Landau to be the first to present a series of her wonderful
paintings after the Hebrew Bible in Abrahams Herberge (Abraham’s Guesthouse). We highly
appreciate this as a sign of the relatedness with our dream of a dignified and just peace between
our peoples.
Therefore, I’d like to repeat here my conviction which I’ve held for many years:
„Israel needs Palestine and Palestine needs Israel.„
Both peoples are interdependent. The blessing and prosperity of one of them depend on the
blessing and prosperity of the other. In other words: If you love Israel, you should help Palestine.
And if you love Palestine you should come to Israel’s help. We are all Abraham’s children and
summoned to a life in peace with each other. Building Abrahams Herberge our parish set a sign
of peace, trusting the divine promise to Abraham “ And in you all the families of the earth will be
blessed" (Genesis 12:3). Many people – especially from Germany, Switzerland, and
Scandinavia – have helped us ideally and materially and continue to do so.
From where shall come the power to turn our backs to the spiral of mutual acts of violence and
to build bridges for peace across borders if not from the three big religions of our native
countries? Despite many obstacles we persevere in building such a bridge between Schluchoth

and Beit Jala. An expression for this is the exhibition of paintings of a Jewish artist in a
Palestinian guesthouse, in Abrahams Herberge. It is our hope that the people, too, from
Schluchoth and Beit Jala may meet soon face to face.
We encourage our guests from all over the world to get involved in an intense discussion with
the paintings of Hasida Landau. To you and to all those who will be seeing the exhibition in
Germany we warmly recommend a visit to the Kibbuz of Schluchoth. There they will– as in
Abrahams Herberge – meet people inspired by a belief in the possibility of peace and by the will
for a permanent understanding.

66. Reconciliation Activity 2010 - Argentina

Let's get together and make peace with our past, with our heritage, with the public area of
our neighbourhood, with the city, the world.
The celebration of "San Juán" called
together thousands of people from
the streets of the district of Guemes
a very poor district in Cordoba.
Over there the choire; the dancers,
musicians and actors shared a
moment of reflection with the audience
standing around the seven torches
which, positioned in a line along the
street, symbolized the seven chacras.
The group of youngsters and children
that were gathered around the chacra
of the heart gave hugs to the people
as well as asked for them in return.
The lines of the songs gave voice to the music of the ancient villages.
Above al there was a shadow theatre taking place
on hug canvas, dealing with the necesitiy of taking
care of our environment. In a ritual, the old was burnt
to give space for the new.
From the roofs the bands would play all kinds of
popular music, everybody was dancing.
We stayed together until dawn, sharing food, drinks
and conversations, thus fortifying our connection.
Let's get together and make peace, so that there will
be no more violence but a space to dream of a new,
a better world.

This is the first Roundtable addressing the Founding of an Asia Pacific Rim Forum in China.
The Forum is intended as an integrating instrument on all Levels of Society with Magnanimity as
a comprehensive developmental perspective and key virtue. The positive and constructive
conduct of a noble spirited mind on all levels of affairs is regarded as a main force for mindful
and sustainable development of society for the advancement of our community, the people and
our home, mother earth. The integrating and reconciling nature of this Forum is furthered by the
Magnanimous approach to development.
The Roundtable took place in Hamburg on 20 th of December 2010 and was organized by

You may remember that about 30
years ago the impressive feat of
transforming China started with the
period of „reforms and opening up“.

With remarkable courage China started to engage in nationwide experimental projects with
determined intention to success and usefulness to the cause.
This national quest for transformation was urgent and much needed as the wellbeing and
prosperity of the nation lacked precisely these and they were not appropriate in relation to
the grand records and national identity of China.
This let to pragmatic development, and a quote from Dr. John and Doris Naisbitts Book –
Chinas Megatrends - sums it up best: „China is creating an entirely new social and
economic society with a “company culture“ that serves the need of the enterprise
and its people on its own path to modernity and prosperity.“ unquote. No one could
foresee what China would achieve in such a short time, finding and pursuing their individual
and unique way.
The times of change have gained momentum not only for China, but also for the Asia-
Pacific-Rim Nations and the World as a whole. The need for change, to adapt and respond
to shifting paradigms, challenges us to tune into new conditions in even shorter timespans.
We constantly have to renew, reconcile and re-establish our value system in the quest for
justice, brother and sisterly community, respect and dignity.
Rising from the ashes of WWII the United Nations became the Family of Nations and
subsequently the embodiment of this quest.
In March 2008 I had the great privilege and honour to present in New York in a Conference
organized by the SER Foundations the: “Reconciliation Strategy Program“ to all United
Nations bodies, as a Concept based on integrating and strengthening measures to support
the visions and aims of the UN, especially the Millennium Development Goals.
Now, for the first time the “Grand Design for a New Magnanimous World Order“ concept
is presented to the audience and the general public today.
It is not by chance that this happens here in China, and it is not by chance that it takes
place in the heart of this great Nation, in Chongqing and that it is presented to
representatives and bodies of the governmental and economic community. Because in
order to establish a stable platform for reforms and development it is vital that politicbusiness-
and society environments work cross-system together for the development of all.
The economic well being of a Nation and wise Governmental measures are a prerequisite
for a step towards a higher-minded administration of World affairs: “A Magnanimous
World Order“.

Magnanimity of the mind and a long term view which is grounded in rationality are
key virtues and have to invigorate tested methods for global conduct like Arbitration,
Adjudication, Treaties and Agreements so they assimilate a unifying and balanced
character.
A cooperative and open attitude dialogue in conflict and problem solving that shuns myopic
views and arrogance as well as concealed special interests in favour of a wise observation
of the situation, free from selfish motives that can lead to short-termed hasty reactions. It is
time for a global call to the World Community of Nations and for everyone to develop what
former Chairman of the National Intelligence Council Joseph Nye coined the “Soft Powers“.
Cultural achievements can be shared as envoys of the attractiveness of a Nation State, to
enrich the World Community in order to overcome disheartening and unproductive powerplays
as not to loose energy, trust and authority.
It adds to success to listen careful to small voices in the Community, which can speak the
truth with a soft voice.
A Grand Design should comprise all-embracing dialogue and a humanistic Code of
Ethics not only in exchange between the culture- and knowledge-societies but also
through an embedded reconciliatory approach.
A reconciliatory approach to national, regional and global levels for enduring and stable
peace and order. Not only for preventing and resolving conflicts but also as a means for
safeguarding economic and cultural development. Some believe that this kind of wisdom is
traditionally interwoven into Chinas cultural identity and social fabric. This can be
understood in the context of China‘s over 5000 Years of History.
A magnanimous order can unfold through the Global conduct of affairs which evolves out of
3 corresponding and interacting circles of Live on a community, national and global level.
The three Circles of Life unfold and expand between 8 pillars of Society.
The first pillar lies in Peace, Order and Justice, which is the Ideal-State-of-Life, this is a
pillar of stability that gives foundation for growth. This pillar seeks the inspiration from a
Higher Vision for further unfoldment.
A second circle of Life unfolds from the Individual, as Men-Women in unity. It interacts with
educational institutions like Schools and Universities as well as with Religious Institutions.
A third circle breathes through the Family and Homes to reach out and interact with the
Governments and Civil Societies.
These three circles respond and activate the Family of the United Nations and their partner
the Non-Governmental bodies to give living testimonial to the inspired objectives of the
United Nations Charta.

Through this image the noble and elevated quest for magnanimous World affairs requires
further nurturing, vitalization and implementation through fertile international relations and
politics in balance.
The establishment of a Forum for a “Grand Vision for a magnanimous World Order“ can be
adopted from China and the Asia-Pacific-Rim States. This in order to unite and put to
peaceful use the vast and rich cultural heritage of over thousands of years in that region.
This as a guiding call for the well being of all. For the respect and dignity we wish for
ourselves, our children and families and to give the gratefulness we have for our common
home, mother earth, a voice and manifestations.
We are not only the keepers of our own legacy and guardians of our children’s future, but
because we are imbued by the Creator with unalienable Rights and because we feel a
natural and tangible innermost desire to live life as it is meant to be.
A fulfilled life, rich of experiences and at its best a testimonial to our ideals and aspirations.
A life that has a heritage of blessings for the next generation.
A life of peace and harmony, of fraternity in diversity.

70. «Cadec-gira iyo uva n’iyo uya » Burundi
MOBILISATION DES POPULATIONS AUTOUR D’UNE ADDUCTION D’EAU POTABLE
L’ ASSOCIATION CADRE DE DEVELOPPEMENT COMMUNAUTAIRE (CADEC) opère dans
une zone qui a connu des affrontements interethniques et le passage à plusieurs reprises des
belligérants. Les communautés ont alors développé des comportements inhumains à telle
enseigne que ceux qui partageaient les mêmes joies et peines se sont entretués. Il est bien
évident que la reconstruction socioéconomique de cette zone passe avant par la reconstruction
morale pour pouvoir rapprocher les communautés en vue d’une cohésion sociale.
Ainsi, l’association rapproche les communautés à travers les travaux d’adduction d’eau potable
(15 km). En effet, les activités de puisage de l’eau occupe une place privilégiée dans la vie des
burundais. Chaque jour, un enfant, une femme ou un homme se rend à la recherche de l’eau
pour divers besoins familiaux. C’est un moment de rencontre entre les différentes couches de la
population autour de diverses activités (lessive, puisage de l’eau, se laver, échanger des
nouvelles du village, aider à soulever le récipient d’eau,…).
D’une façon ou d’une autre, toutes ces activités
permettent aux populations de dépasser les clivages,
ethniques, politiques, sociaux, religieux,...

En vue de parvenir à rapprocher les communautés tant meurtries par plus de 15 ans de guerre
civile, l’asbl CADEC compte mobiliser les populations de différentes collines à travers les
travaux d’aménagement d’une conduite d’eau potable (débrousser le terrain, creuser la
conduite, transporter les tuyaux, couvrir de terre les tuyaux, transport de briques, moellon et
pierres, construire des bornes fontaines et les entretenir,..).
Au terme de cette activité qui va mobiliser
environ 5.000 ménages (plus de 25.000 habitants) pendant 6 mois, les populations vont
développer des attitudes de vie de groupe .C’est une occasion privilégiée d’adopter des
comportements nouveaux d’entraide, de tolérance, de solidarité, de respect mutuel et de paix
sociale, base d’une véritable réconciliation nationale durable.

71. Caravane pour la piax et la reconciliation Burundi
En commune nyabihanga
Avec la crise de 1993 qui a perduré pendant plus de 15 ans, les communautés, qui jadis se
partageaient les mêmes joies et peines, ont adopté et développé des comportements inhumains
et elles se sont entretuées.
La situation s’est aggravée avec le passage des rebelles car certaines catégories de
populations étaient accusées de collaborer avec eux. En poursuivant les rebelles, les militaires
rasaient tout ce qui était à leur passage.
La Commune de NYABIHANGA qui a été particulièrement touchée par la guerre, car
considérée comme le couloir des rebelles nécessité une reconstruction morale et matérielle pour
alléger les souffrances des populations.
Consciente que la reconstruction morale constitue un préalable à toute œuvre de reconstruction
matérielle si l’on vise la paix et le développement durables, l’association Cadre de
Développement Communautaire « CADEC-GIRA IYO UVA N’IYO UJA » s’attelle à développer
des initiatives de rapprochement des communautés en vue d’une cohésion sociale.
Ainsi, elle comte organiser une caravane pour la paix et la réconciliation en vue de
rassembler toutes les communautés autour des activités socioculturelles (danses modernes et
traditionnelles,..) et sportives (jeux traditionnels et modernes), d’intérêt général (reboisement,
entretien de pistes rurales,..) ou de jeux concours sur des bandes dessinées (concours de
dessin), des saynètes, la profération des éloges et chansons en rapport avec la paix et la
réconciliation.
En effet, ces différentes activités constituent des occasions privilégiées pour les populations
indistinctement de l’âge, la religion, l’ethnie et le sexe et de dépasser les différents clivages.
Les compétitions seront organisées au niveau des 29 collines de recensement, des 5 zones
administratives et de la Commune.
Au terme de cette caravane qui va mobiliser les communautés pendant au moins 12 mois
(2011-2012) et qui se concrétisera par la remise des prix, les communautés développeront des
attitudes de vie de groupe.
Cela leur permettra aussi d’adopter et de développer des comportements d’entraide, de
tolérance, de solidarité, de respect mutuel et de paix sociale, base d’une véritable réconciliation
morale, pilier d’une reconstruction matérielle durable. NB : Ci-joint une photo des populations en

72. Mise en place Burundi
Des conseillers d’orientation, de conseil et de developpment de jeunesse dans les
ecoles en vue de la promotion des valeurs
DE PAIX ET DE LA RECONCILIATION AU BURUNDI
Le Burundi a été marqué par une série de crises politico- ethniques : 1965, 1969, 1971, 1972,
1988, 1993. Les effets de ces crises ont tellement ébranlé le tissu économique et social qu’ils
marqueront longtemps les générations futures.
La crise de 1993 dont les effets sont encore visibles est venue aggraver la situation et a
endeuillé notre pays en occasionnant des destructions humaines, physiques et morales (pillage,
destruction des infrastructures sociales et économiques).
Les écoles (secondaires et supérieures) n’ont pas été épargnées, ce qui a constitue et constitue
encore un blocage au processus de réalisation des objectifs de l’Education pour tous (EPT) et
l’accomplissement des Objectifs du Millénaire de Développement (OMD).
Le milieu scolaire a été un terrain de violations des droits de l’enfant et d’indiscipline notoire.
L’association africaine d’orientation et de conseil (AAOC-Burundi) s’est fixé comme objectif de
contribuer à redresser la situation par la mise en place de conseillers d’orientation et de conseil
dans les écoles primaires, secondaires et supérieures.
Les stratégies consistent à redynamiser les valeurs culturelles perdues, informer et sensibiliser
les jeunes sur les dangers qui les guettent pour les aider à organiser leur vie afin
d’affronter les demandes qu’imposent la vie moderne et pour compléter l’éducation que les
jeunes reçoivent en famille.
Cela permettra au milieu scolaire de constituer réellement un cadre de formation
des hommes et des femmes épris des valeurs de paix et de réconciliation.

73. Creation des centres de socialisation des enfants Burundi
Pour la promotion des valeurs de paix et de reconciliation au Burundi
Dans le cadre de lever ce défi, CADEC envisage de mettre en place des centres de prise en
charge intégrée des jeunes enfants en vue de promouvoir l’éveil, la stimulation et la
socialisation qui véhiculent des valeurs de justice, amour, générosité, gentillesse, coopér-ation,
prudence, responsabilité, équité, tolérance, entraide, partage et de solidarité qui sont des
fondements de la paix et la réconciliation.
Ces centres qui seront équipés d’espaces récréatifs permettront non seulement aux jeunes
enfants de développer l’éveil mais aussi d’avoir une alimentation suffisante et équilibrée dans
des conditions d’hygiène acceptables.
Il n’ya pas de doute que les enfants éduqués dans cet environnement deviendront
des hommes et des femmes intègres et épris des valeurs
de paix et réconciliation.
