RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT WELFARE<br />
FUND ADMINISTRATORS MEET<br />

Approximately 100 admilllstrators,<br />
trustees, and other interested<br />
partlcs mel In Washington, D.C. on<br />
November 9,1983, for the 3rd meeting<br />
<strong>of</strong> welfare funds participating In<br />
the Electrical Industry Health and<br />
Welfare Reciprocal Agreement. The<br />
purpose <strong>of</strong> the meeting was to review<br />
the progress and admllllstTation <strong>of</strong><br />
the ReCiprocal Agreement, and to<br />
diSCUSS common problems particlpaung<br />
welfare funds arc facing.<br />
<strong>IBEW</strong> <strong>International</strong> President,<br />
Charles H. Pillard and Mark Hughes,<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Labor Relallons for the<br />
National Electncal Contractors As<br />
SOCiation, welcomed the participants<br />
to Washington. In hiS welcoming<br />
comments, PreSident PIllard praised<br />
the progress that has been made In<br />
thiS area and pointed out that more<br />
than 95 percent <strong>of</strong> all constructi on<br />
local union welfare funds arc partic<br />
Ipating In the Rcclprocal Agreement.<br />
He pledged the contlllued support <strong>of</strong><br />
the lBEW In obtalnmg the goal <strong>of</strong><br />
100 percent participation. Mark<br />
Hughes noted the agreement operation<br />
has been very smooth and has<br />
becn beneficial to all parties concerned.<br />

Dlckmson, who serves as the Recip·<br />
rocal Administrator, led the diSCUS-<br />

Agreement. Although there were<br />
some problems with the timelmess<br />
<strong>of</strong> the uansfer <strong>of</strong> contributions, the<br />
agreement appears to be meeting its<br />
goal <strong>of</strong> allowing members, who mUSt<br />
travel to obtalO employment, to<br />
maintain their health insurance coverage<br />
in theH home local union fund<br />
