NPW celebrations
Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Solapur
Branch and Solapur District Chemist
& Druggist Association celebrated 50 th
National Pharmacy Week at College of
Pharmacy, Solapur from 21 st November
to 26 th November 2011. The celebrations
were inaugurated by Dr.S.B.Kshirsagar.
Mr.A.A.Sonandkar, President, IPA Solapur
Branch presided over the function. Medical
detailing competition was conducted for
degree and diploma students. Pharma Quiz
competition was conducted for students
and chemists. Blood donation camp was
conducted. A total of 50 students donated
blood. Patient counseling competition
and Best Medical Shop competition
was held for the chemists. Mr.Shrikant
Patankar, Psychiatrist delivered a lecture
on “Relationship building” for students,
staff and chemists. Valedictory function
along with prize distribution ceremony
was conducted. The Chief Guests
for the function were Mr.Madan Patil,
President, M.S.C.D.A., West Zone and
Mr.Madhurendra Kumar, Divisional Sales
Manager, Alkem Deamacare, Mumbai.
Mr. A.A.Sonandkar, President IPA Solapur
Branch, Prof.T.I.Shaikh, Secretary IPA,
Principal S.B.Gokhale (Diploma), Principal
R.Y.Patil (Degree), Mr. Sachin Sakhare,
Mr.V.Pujari, Mr.R.S.Barole, Prof.J.B.Kabade
worked together to make the celebrations a
grand success.
IPA - Bihar State Branch
Proceedings
The meeting of the Executive Committee
of the Association was held on 6/11/2011
at 4.00 pm & presided by Sri N.K.Prasad,
the Vice president, IPA Bihar Branch, at
the premises of M/S Asklepios Remedies
Pvt. Ltd., Patna. Sri N.K.Prasad welcomed
the members participating in the Executive
Committee meeting. Sri S.P.Singh informed
the members about the golden jubilee
celebrations of National Pharmacy Week
in the third week of November 2011. The
slogan of the year was “PHARMACIST: A
HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL”. Sri R
Bandopadhyaya suggested that the NPW
will be celebrated jointly with IPGA Bihar
Branch, which was approved by the house.
It was informed to the members that IPGA
Bihar Branch has proposed the celebrations
on 23 rd Nov. at PGI Guljarbagh and on 26 th
Nov. at BIA Seminar Hall, Patna.
The newly elected office bearers are:
S.P.Singh, President; Dr. L.K.Choudhari
and N.K.Prasad, Vice President;
R. Bandopadhyay, General Secretary;
Basant Kumar Singh, Jt. Secretary; Naresh
Jha, Treasurer; G.V.Verma, Auditor; Hemant
Kr. Sinha, Madhusudan Kumar, Vinay
Kumar, Sanjive Rai and Rabindra Kr. Sinha,
E C Members; Jagjeet Singh, Ashish Kumar
Singh, Awdesh Jaiswal, S. L. Lathi and
Surendra Singh, Co-opted Members. The
account of the Association will be operated
jointly by any two of the President, General
Secretary and the Treasurer. Sri S.P.Singh
will be the State Nominee for the CEC. The
meeting was concluded by vote of thanks
by Sri Basant Kumar Singh.
IPA- Tamil Nadu Branch
Pharmacist Refresher Course
A Pharmacist Refresher Course was
conducted under the aegis of Jaya College
of pharmacy, Chennai in association
with Indian Pharmaceutical Association,
Tamil Nadu Branch and Sponsored by
Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi.
With the blessings of Prof. A. Kanagaraj,
Chairman, Jaya Group of Institutions
the deliberations were started. Prof Dr.
V. Ravichandran, Director, School of
Pharmaceutical sciences, Vel’s University,
Chennai delivered the Chief Guest address.
Shri. J. Jeyaseelan, Managing Director,
Delvin Formulations & Secretary, IPA
Tamilnadu Branch addressed the gathering
about the upliftment of pharmaceutical
industry to the global standard. Dr. N.
Narayanan, Director gave the felicitation
Prof. K. K. Narasimhulu, faculty members &
students of Pharmacy College attended the
function. Lectures were delivered by various
eminent pharmacy professionals like Prof.
Dr. S. Annadurai, Department of Pharmacy,
CMC, Vellore, Shri. T. Ilango, Registrar,
TN Pharmacy council, Chennai, Dr. K.
Hang, Dean, SRM University, Chennai and
Shri. K. Sankar, Group Manager, Delvin
Formulations. More than 250 registered
pharmacists participated in the Refresher
Course from various places like Tamil Nadu,
Andhra Pradesh and Pudhucherry and
benefitted out of it.
IPA Aurangabad Branch
seminar on, “Increase Your
Productivity in Qc/ Analytical
Laboratory”
On 6 th March 2012, IPA, Aurangabad
organized a seminar in association with M/s.
Agilent Technologies on, “INCREASE YOUR
PRODUCTIVITY IN QC/ ANALYTICAL
LABORATORY” at Hotel Lemon Tree.
The seminar was started with welcome
of Mr. T.A.Thool, Jt. Commissioner, FDA,
Aurangabad and guests including speakers
of the function.
Mr. Jagdish Joshi, Hon. Secretary of IPA,
Aurangabad Branch and Vice President,
M/s. Ajanta Pharma ltd initially highlighted
the overview of IPA, Aurangabad and
stated importance of programme for
pharmaceutical industries. Mr. Thool
inaugurated the seminar with inaugural
speech and shared the importance of need of
newer technologies in the field. Later,Three
speakers had updated the audience on the
specialized topics as below-

LC/UHPLC/GC/MS Instruments by
MandarJogelkar, Senior Application
Chemist – Agilent Technologies.
When transferring methods from HPLC
to UHPLC several approaches can be
taken, depending on the analytical needs.
Over the past few years, there has been
tremendous interest in approaches to speed
up and/or increase the resolving power of
the analytical separation process. Many
laboratories want to transition some of their
conventional HPLC methods to fast UHPLC
methods, but their lack of experience
sometimes acts as a deterrent to trying. In
this presentation, we would share examples
on the ease of Method Transferability from
HPLC to UHPLC and the tools available to
today’s scientist to make these decisions
faster.”
Topic: Advances in Sample
Preparations by Dr. Sachin Pandey,
Tech Support Chemistries & Supplies
Division – Agilent Technologies
Awareness is important and the users
need to realize the necessity of sample
preparation prior to injecting the samples
on High-end Instruments like LC-MS/MS
or GC-MS or MS/MS. The said seminar
elaborates the need and the types of options
usually available on the sample preparation
and added value of Agilent Technologies
better alternatives available on these
types of Sample Preparation options
available. It gave a brief idea on the sample

prep techniques like Filtration, Protien
Precipitation, Liquid-Liquid Extraction
and Solid Phase Extraction and the
better preferences provided by Agilent
Technologies in the field of Sample Cleanup
processes.

Lab practices by Sameer Inamdhar,
District Manager Service and Support
Division.
Lab Compliance and Good Lab Practices:
Lab compliance in pharma revolves around
each and every aspect of lab right from
Sampling, Lab hygiene to data integrity.
Equipment Qualification is the most
important in Lab compliance. USP 1058
suggests for four stages; DQ, IQ,OQ,PQ.

Dr. KM Parikh Memorial award conferred upon
Dr DBA Narayana
“Dr DBA Narayana received the Dr. KM Parikh Memorial award
of the IASTAM (Indian Association of Study of Traditional Asian
Medicine) for 2012 on 3rd March 2012. The award was given by
Dr. G Mutalik, Former Director of WHO. The award was
given for Dr. narayana’s contri-bution to Ayurvedic Herbal
Pharmaceutics, for developing pharmacopeial standards in IP,
and for Regulatory contributions in herbals and ayurveda.

STATE LEVEL MOCK TEST FOR GPAT
(M.PHARMACY) Indian Pharmaceutical
Association, A.P. State Branch,
Hyderabad , in association with MYBO
organized “State Level Mock Test For
GPAT (M.Pharmacy) at one of the
centers i.e. Teegala Ram Reddy College
of Pharmacy, Meerpet, Hyderabad on
Sunday the 25 th March, 2012 from 10.00
Am to 1.00 PM covering 150 questions.
MYBO conducted this mock test in twenty
centers with a participation of more than
1400 Students for the award of MYBO
Merit Scholarships of Rs.1,50,000/-.
Top 105 Merit students will be selected
and will be awarded with MYBO’s Merit
Scholarships. MYBO is a voluntary and
service oriented organization established
in 2011 for the benefit of students. It
was also aimed for supporting poor
people in society. It has been raising
its Team strength from various zones
and extending its activities to various
sectors. MYBO Team has been working
for framing innovative activities to serve
