Student Activities<br />

This year the Criminal Justice Club, advised by Prof. Garcia, participated in several campus<br />
events, including Student Life Club Day, the School’s Admissions Discovery Day, and the<br />
SCAPS Safe Spring Break Program. The Club also engaged in community service, helping to<br />
sponsor a Halloween Party at the Youth Consultation Services- Holley Child Care and<br />
Development Services in Hackensack New Jersey; collecting toys for the Bergen County<br />
Sheriff Department’s Annual Toy Drive; volunteering for the Police Battle of the Blue, an<br />
annual charity event for Tomorrow’s Children Fund.<br />

The Orton Gillingham Teacher Certificate Program was recognized by the International<br />
Dyslexia Association, in its review of <strong>college</strong> and <strong>university</strong> programs, as one of only 15<br />
programs meeting its knowledge and practice standards.<br />
The Center offered its now nationally IDA recognized and IMSLEC accredited program in<br />
the following school districts: Cranford, Holmdel, Jersey City, Manalapan, North Brunswick,<br />
North Caldwell, Pompton Lakes, Scotch Plains, Warren Township, and Wyckoff as well as in<br />
the 5 Children’s Dyslexia Centers run by the Masons: Burlington, Hasbrouck Heights,<br />
Northfield, Scotch Plains, Tenafly.<br />
Dr. Farrell was elected Vice President, President Elect of IMSLEC and a board member of<br />
the Alliance for Accreditation and Certification.<br />
Elizabeth Kenny Foggin, an instructor for the Center for Dyslexia Studies, received an award<br />
for Outstanding Multisensory Structured Language Education Teacher from IMSLEC at their<br />
annual meeting in November 2011.<br />
