105.7.8.5 Blasting operation. Whenever any blasting operation is to be conducted in conjunction<br />

with the drilling <strong>of</strong> a temporary geological exploratory core hole, the Permits shall be combined<br />

into a single Permit. <strong>The</strong> fee for any such combined Permit shall be either that specified in<br />

Subsections 2 or 5 <strong>of</strong> Section 105.7.8.4, whichever is greater.<br />

105.7.8.6 Two or more items <strong>of</strong> the same classification. When two or more items <strong>of</strong> the same<br />

classification are installed on the same premises by authority <strong>of</strong> the same Permit, the inspection<br />

fee required by this section shall be computed on the basis <strong>of</strong> 100 percent <strong>of</strong> the fee required for<br />

the first item, plus 50 percent <strong>of</strong> the fee for each additional item. <strong>The</strong> inspection fee for such<br />

multiple installations shall be equal to the greatest fee required by this section for a single<br />

installation <strong>of</strong> any item thereon.<br />

105.7.9 Emergency Inspections <strong>The</strong> Department may, at its discretion, make emergency<br />

inspections at other than normal working hours when requested to do so by the permittee. <strong>The</strong><br />

Board, with the concurrence <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Administrative Officer, shall determine from the cost <strong>of</strong><br />

such inspection the fee therefor for every four hours or fraction there<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> inspection time<br />

pursuant to the provisions <strong>of</strong> Section 114 <strong>of</strong> this chapter. For the purpose <strong>of</strong> this section, normal<br />

working hours shall be construed to mean the hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. <strong>of</strong> any day<br />

except Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays.<br />

105.7.9.1 Inspections not deemed to be emergency inspections. Inspections <strong>of</strong> business<br />

operations that normally function after 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays<br />

shall not be deemed to be emergency inspections and shall not be charged the fee specified by<br />

this section.<br />

105.7.10 Blasting Permits – Insurance Required. Every applicant for a blasting permit shall file<br />

with the Department evidence <strong>of</strong> general liability insurance having such dollar limits and<br />

coverage inclusions as the Department may from time to time require. All such insurance shall<br />

conform to the conditions stated on the <strong>City</strong>’s General Liability Special Endorsement form and<br />

must be approved by the Office <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Attorney, Insurance and Bonds Section, prior to the<br />

issuance <strong>of</strong> a permit.<br />

105.7.11 Bonds and In-lieu Deposits for Oil Wells. Each application for a permit for the drilling<br />

or redrilling <strong>of</strong> any oil well shall be accompanied by a bond or deposit in accordance with<br />

Section 105.3.8.9 <strong>of</strong> this article.<br />

105.8 AUTHORITY TO ISSUE, SUSPEND OR REVOKE SPECIAL PERMITS.<br />

Whenever the Chief determines that for the safeguarding <strong>of</strong> life and property<br />

from fire, explosion, panic, or other hazardous conditions which may arise in temporary<br />

operations or occupancies which are not otherwise specified in this article, the Chief may require<br />

and issue a Special Permit stating the conditions for such operation or occupancy. <strong>The</strong> Special<br />

Permit may be made subject to such terms and conditions as are necessary for the preservation <strong>of</strong><br />

life and property.<br />
