Planned Property Management Actions for Brillion Wildlife Area in
Calumet County
Boundary Maintenance
Demolish a building
will be to place a new controll structure. This will
add water control so wetland can be drawn down
and maintained for its greatest diversity and
fields can be maintained nearby. Area has being
overtaken by brush and trees due to the wet
conditions so prescribe burning becomes
ineffective. The Aebischer site has had problems
draining the wetland for maintenance on its dike.
Control structure when placed originally was set
too high.
Check on old boundaries to place signs where
they have been torn down. Place new signs.
Plan on bidding out building sale of usable pieces
(Doors, wood floors, cabinets, fixtures, brick, tin,
boards, etc.) to reduce eventual demolition of
buildings on both Killsnake and Brillion WA's.
One site is near Aebischer Road on Killsnake WA
and the other is on Hilbert Road on Brillion WA.

Species surveys include
parameters for grassland
and wetland birds for
their presence or absence
during the nesting
season. It assists when
maintenance occurs on
grasslands whether they
are upland or lowland.
This is a priority to be
able to do management
practices in grasslands.
Surveys for dove trapping
provide information for
our database for hunter
retrieval and federal
requirements. Other
species documentations
go for surveys that are
incidental when we are
out in the field.
