A sense of achievement: Mobility Action 2011
10 tonnes CO 2 saved – best result since 2008
The Mobility Action* campaign took
place at Rhomberg again this year.
Over the four months of the campaign,
employees collected a mobility stamp
for each day they came to work by
alternative means.
The encouraging result: the 42 participants
covered over 62,676 kilometres
using environmentally compatible
modes of transport. This 538 kilometres
per day equates to a CO 2 -saving
of almost 10 tonnes. The result once
more underlines our resolve to treat
the earth’s natural resources more
responsibly. The participants contributed
an average saving of 1,089
kilometres. It is notable that in 2008,
58 employees helped create the
previous record. And our company
transport unit was proud to contribute
13,440 kilometres to the eco-account.
Our colleagues in Salzburg, almost
all of whom come to work everyday
on public transport, by foot or bicycle,
have also made a big difference to the
admirable end result.
In the light of the record result, “Mobi-
Man”, your new travelling companion
for the Mobility Action campaign,
turned up in celebratory mood and
decided there and then to award a
few modest but relevant prizes to the
contributors, including those who took
part in the cycling competition.
Dr. Agnes Thurnher hands Patrick Kammerer
the second prize.
Hester De Villiers and Patrick Kammerer
gleefully took first place. Second place
went to a delighted Madeleine Sargant
and Philipp Nachbaur. Sebastian Irmler
and Michaela Mölgg secured third
place to earn their vouchers. Dr. Agnes
Thurnher had the happy task of distributing
the prizes to the winners.
* The Mobility Action campaign is held every summer. Employees who make their way to
work using alternative means (public transport, car sharing arrangements, by foot or by
bicycle) receive a stamp for that day. Twenty stamps earn them a voucher for twenty euro,
made available for the campaign by regional partners such as the Vorarlberg public transport
consortium (VVV).
Top up your energy and keep mobile
Full tables for Mobility Breakfast
Mobility and energy are closely related
and can be viewed from many angles.
The Rhomberg corporate philosophy
firmly believes that employees are
one of our most valuable resources.
Therefore one of the company’s great
concerns is to foster the mobility of
our employees. We care about forms
of transport as much as we care about
the maintenance and promotion of
health.
ENERGY IN EVERYDAY LIFE
Working closely with our company physician,
Dr. Agnes Thurnher, we introduced
the Mobility Breakfast. Since
2010, this has been the concluding
event to Mobility Action*, which takes
place in the summer months. Interested
employees meet once a year
in a relaxed atmosphere for a buffet
breakfast, with delicious “Keimkraft”
(sprouted wheat) croissants and fresh
fruit, and to receive advice on health
matters. Under the motto “Fit for the
day”, information is available on health,
vitality, a balanced diet and much more.
In 2011, the approaching cold winter
months were a “hot” topic. For questions
like “What’s best for a cold?” or
“How can I get fit during the winter?”
there were helpful tips from Dr. Agnes
Thurnher.
HEALTH TO GO
At the information stand, visitors could
pick up and take away interesting
literature and countless trial samples
of vitamin C, magnesium, heating plasters,
bath salts for relaxing or alleviating
a cold, solar protection and much
more. The selection was huge and had
something for everyone.
Madeleine Sargant
The organising team, Dr. Agnes Thurnher and Madeleine Sargant (left bottom), ensured a good
atmosphere for the Mobiliy Breakfast and an abundant supply of free samples.
“I really enjoyed the
Mobility Breakfast.
It was super that
the company physician
made herself
available for questions. The sample
packs were interesting too. Good
idea!”
Marjeta Ulmer
“I have been delighted
by the enthusiastic
participation and the
huge interest shown.
Many people used
the opportunity to ask questions.
For me it has been a really fantastic
campaign. Mobility can be considered
from a number of angles: Keeping fit
keeps you mobile. Exercising your
body boosts its natural resistance and
vitality. A balanced diet supports us in
this aim.”
