turkey: In August a contract was signed<br />
for the set-up of a new business corporation<br />
between the Turkish family enterprise<br />
Kalebozan Metalurji AS and the <strong>Rhomberg</strong><br />
Bahntechnik Holding <strong>Gmbh</strong> in Ankara.<br />
<strong>Rhomberg</strong>-Kalebozan is the youngest subsidiary<br />
of the internationally active <strong>Rhomberg</strong><br />
Bahntechnik Group and will be led by DI<br />
Hubert <strong>Rhomberg</strong>, Ing. Oswald Ortner and<br />
Dr. Halit Kalebozan, who will manage the<br />
operative side of the business in Turkey.<br />
Kalebozan A.S. was set up as a family firm<br />
in Ankara in 1996 and over the past few<br />
years it has established itself as a success-<br />
ful Turkish railway engineering company in<br />
commercial and mechanical track construction<br />
as well in the welding and electro-mechanical<br />
equipment sectors.<br />
The fusion of both enterprises not only<br />
means an extension of responsibilities<br />
but also a strong entrance into the rail<br />
way engineering market and a long-term<br />
strategic orientation towards international<br />
competition with the <strong>Rhomberg</strong><br />
Bahntechnik Group’s extensive portfolio.<br />

Alongside commercial and mechanical<br />
track construction, slab tracks and<br />
project business, <strong>Rhomberg</strong>-Kalebozan<br />
will also offer business in the areas of<br />
electro-mechanical equipment, track<br />
work system technology and welding.<br />
There are currently 53 permanent workers<br />

arası Bahntechnik Group‘daki İştirakli<br />
şirketimizdir. Bu grupta yönetim; DI Hubert<br />

Kalebozan 1996 tarihinde Ankarada bir aile<br />
şirketi olarak kuruldu geçen yıla kadar Demiryolu<br />
tekniğinde başarı ile çalışmalarını<br />
hat yapımında ticari ve mekanik olarak yürüttü<br />
. Bu alanda kaynak işleri ve Elektromekanik<br />
donanımında da kendini tesis etti.<br />
Her iki kuruluşun beraberliği alandaki yetkiyi<br />
genişletmek ve devaman Demiryolu tekniğinde<br />
güçlü bir çıkış yapmaktadır. Uzun<br />
süreli strateji ile Uluslar arası yöndeki rekabeti<br />
<strong>Rhomberg</strong> Bahntechnik Group‘un geniş<br />

sweden: Good news for <strong>Rhomberg</strong> Bahntechnik<br />
– our bid has been accepted for<br />
the construction of the slab track in Malmö<br />
(Sweden).<br />
The project in Malmö represents a further<br />
milestone in the dynamically growing region<br />
that lies between Copenhagen (DK) and<br />
Malmö (SE). Both cities were joined with<br />
the Öresund Bridge in 2000 which is the<br />
world’s longest cable-stayed bridge for both<br />
road and railway transport. By constructing<br />
twelve kilometres of slab track, the <strong>Rhomberg</strong><br />
Group will make a substantial contribution<br />
to the optimization of the connection<br />
between the two cities.<br />
Bankverket Produktion (SE) holds primary<br />
responsibility for the project. In addition to<br />
the slab track, the venture also entails a<br />
5km of ballast substructure, construction of<br />
overhead contact lines, electro-mechanical<br />
equipment as well as further accompanying<br />
measures concerning railway engineering<br />
equipment. The sum of the contract<br />
amounts to around 400 million SEK (41 million<br />
Euro).<br />

Casting the 12 km slab tracks in concrete<br />
constitutes the heart of the project and accounts<br />
for 50% of the overall costs of the<br />
venture. <strong>Rhomberg</strong> Bahntechnik GmbH<br />
was able to convince the awarding authority<br />
with its specialist knowledge and master<br />
plan and now carries sole responsibility for<br />
the casting of the tracks.<br />
Construction of the slab track starts in May<br />
2009. Completion of the project is scheduled<br />
for the summer 2010.<br />

Proje (SE) balastsız yola ilaveten 5 km daha<br />
balastlı yol yapımını gerçekleştirdi, katener<br />
hattının elektro mekanik donanımını, hat<br />
tekniği şartları dahilinde donattı. Bu taahhüt<br />
yaklaşık 400.Milyon SEK (41 Milyon Euro)<br />
dur.<br />

Switzerland: <strong>Rhomberg</strong> Bahntechnik AG,<br />
St. Gallen and a local construction company<br />
(both ARGE) carried out the Krümmli<br />
line overhaul in Täuffelen – Hagneck, in the<br />
Swiss canton of Berne.<br />
The contract involved dismantling and reassembling<br />
755 metres of railway tracks<br />
which included building a new foundation<br />
layer, track drainage and new verges. In<br />
addition, 755 m of cable channels were laid,<br />
200 m of ballast cages were relocated for<br />
verge safety and two new level-crossings<br />
were built.<br />
The renovation work was made difficult by<br />
the demanding building ground and all of<br />
the additional services that were associated<br />
with the project, as well as heavy rain during<br />
the construction phases. This caused a<br />
constant re-shuffling of the course of construction<br />
as well as the schedule.<br />

subsidiary of <strong>Rhomberg</strong> Bahntechnik Holding<br />
GmbH was given the spectacular as<br />
signment of completing the world’s heaviest<br />
railway track infrastructure for goods<br />
trains in remote North West Australia by the<br />
Fortescue Metal Group (FMG, www.fmgl.<br />
com.au). With an axle load of 40 tonnes, the<br />
270 km-long private railway line will also be<br />
the highest-capacity railway in the world.<br />
After the first stage of setting 270 km of<br />
tracks with a ballast height of 150 mm and<br />
laying the tracks, Track Australia will now<br />
be able to continue and complete this prestigious<br />
project. First the track will be raised<br />
by 100 mm, after that it will be compressed<br />
and levelled, making sure that a tolerance<br />
of just +/- 5 mm is observed. In this way<br />
the current axle load of 25 tonnes will be<br />
raised to the target load of 40 tonnes and<br />
normal rail operations will then be able to<br />
commence.<br />
Normal operations will see a transport route<br />
of 250 km for iron ore from an inland mine<br />
to Port Hedland with a 2.5 km long train<br />
(220 wagons and 30,000 tonnes weight)<br />
which will then be loaded onto ships with<br />
180,000 tonne cargo capacity.<br />
Track Australia was responsible for the<br />
transport of the engine train measuring 70<br />
was successfully completed and handed<br />
over to the client. The route was completed<br />
on schedule and ready for train operation<br />
on 7 May 2008 and officially handed over to<br />
the client on 17 June 2008.<br />

metres and weighing 220 tonnes across the<br />
roads of the East Coast up to North West<br />
Australia. It took around 10 days to transport<br />
across the stretch of 3,500 km and the transport<br />
was under non-stop police observation.<br />
For the highly motivated track Australia team<br />
the goal for completion of the project is end<br />
September. The contract value amounts to<br />
approx. AUS$ 2.5 m (EUR 1.5 m).<br />

tekrar yapımını güzergah yenilenmesi, yeni<br />
temel oluşturulması , 200 m vibrasyonla sıkıştırma<br />
(banket emniyeti için balast kabı)<br />
bununla beraber iki yeni hemzemin geçit<br />
yapımı. İhale 30.Kasım.2007 tarihinde üstlenildi<br />
ve 25.mart.2008 tarihinde ise teslim<br />
edildi. Fakat zor inşaat ve yöre şartları buna<br />
bağlı kısmı ek işler yapım sürecindeki şikayetler<br />
işin süresi sonundada devam edilerek<br />
isteğe uygun olarak bitirildi.<br />
ARGE timinin üstün özverili çalışmaları ile<br />
proje başarı ile sonuçlandırılarak işletmeye<br />
17.haziran.2008 resmen teslim edilmiştir.<br />
Bu projenin gerçekleştirilmesinde özveri ile<br />

The advantages of the Dynamic Stopfexpress<br />
09-4X(tamping machine) are obvious.<br />
Tracks can be laid quicker as a result<br />
of the increase in working speed. By working<br />
on four sleepers in a single operating<br />
process, we are able to carry out work of<br />
consistently high quality. The flexibility of<br />
the machine also means that casting one<br />
or two sleepers is possible. Additionally, the<br />
integrated dynamic track stabiliser has reduced<br />
the number of safety staff required.<br />
The ballast management system BDS 2000<br />
with its integrated MFS 100 material, conveyor<br />
and silo unit have also made work<br />
easier in certain areas, e.g. in the reduced<br />
amount of new ballast required in maintenance<br />
tamping work or in the optimization<br />
of resources. MFS 100 has increased the<br />
intake capacity of ballast from 20 m 3 to up<br />
to 88 m 3 .<br />
The combination of all these advantages<br />
provides ideal usage of the blockades with<br />
