COUNTY Of CORK GRAND JURY PRESENTMENTS.<br />

1679. (Fo. 23.) March 17. We find <strong>and</strong> present that there ought<br />

<strong>to</strong> be a free school erected within the diocess of <strong>Cork</strong>e, <strong>and</strong><br />

that a convenient place be agreed on between the Bishop of<br />

<strong>Cork</strong>e <strong>and</strong> city of <strong>Cork</strong>e for the same, <strong>and</strong> that the city <strong>and</strong><br />

liberties of <strong>Cork</strong>e are in the diocess of <strong>Cork</strong>e, <strong>and</strong> therefore<br />

are obliged <strong>to</strong> contribute <strong>to</strong> the building the said school.<br />

We therefore find <strong>and</strong> present that one hundred pounds be<br />

raised on that part of the diocess of <strong>Cork</strong>e which lies within<br />

the county of <strong>Cork</strong>e, <strong>and</strong> the summe collected be paid <strong>to</strong><br />

Alex<strong>and</strong>er Piggot, esq., &c., provided alwais that the said<br />

Piggott shall not issue warrants for the collection of the same,<br />

until first the city <strong>and</strong> commonalty of <strong>Cork</strong>e shall raise an<br />

equal summe <strong>to</strong> what is raised on this county, &c.-as also shall,<br />

under their seal, convey <strong>to</strong> the Rt. Rev. the Bishop of the<br />

diocess the ground pitched on for the said school, as also<br />

oblige themselves <strong>to</strong> keep the same in perpetual repair, the<br />

which, if they shall fail of doing, &c., the said Piggot shall desist<br />

from issueing out the warrant aforesaid.<br />

An. 1679. (Fo. 23.) A receiver or accomptant for the county is<br />

appointed. Will. Hull, of Burdans<strong>to</strong>wn is made receiver. He<br />

is allowed 12d. per pound for all that he shall receive over <strong>and</strong><br />

above what he shall lay out for warrants.<br />

1680. (Fo. 24.) The Clerk of the Crown <strong>and</strong> Peace's fees settled.<br />

He is <strong>to</strong> have 2s. 6d. for one warrant for moneys raised for<br />

the county's use by one presentment, <strong>and</strong> shall sign the rest<br />

gratis for all the money not exceeding V. per plowl<strong>and</strong> ; <strong>and</strong><br />

for moneys exceeding 4d. per plowl<strong>and</strong>, his usual fees of<br />

2s. 6d. for every warrant issued <strong>to</strong> the several baronies in the<br />

said county. Warrants for money for prisoners <strong>to</strong> be signed<br />

by him gratis.<br />

1680. (26.) We desire the Bishop of the diocess <strong>and</strong> the High<br />

Sheriff of the county <strong>to</strong> meet, <strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong> pitch upon a convenient<br />

place for building of a school in the diocese, according <strong>to</strong> the<br />

statute.<br />

(27.) Sixty pounds <strong>to</strong> be raised out of that part of the<br />

county of <strong>Cork</strong>e that lies in the diocese of <strong>Cork</strong>e, for the<br />

erecting of a school, according <strong>to</strong> act of parliament , <strong>to</strong> be applotted<br />

according <strong>to</strong> the deficiency of the year 's value.<br />

The Bishop of <strong>Cork</strong>e, Will. Mead, esq., &c., are made overseers<br />

of the work, provided that, before the said summe be<br />

raised or applotted , a place where the school shall be built be<br />

made over <strong>to</strong> the Bishop of <strong>Cork</strong>e <strong>and</strong> his successors for the<br />

perpetual use of the said school , <strong>and</strong> also that the same be kept<br />

in repair by the said city of <strong>Cork</strong>e.<br />

1680 (fo. 28 ). No person <strong>to</strong> act as At<strong>to</strong>rney, Clerk of the Crown<br />

or Peace , &e., but such as are of the Protestant religion, <strong>and</strong><br />

take the oaths of allegiance <strong>and</strong> supremacy.<br />

1681 (fol. 29). Raising money by the plowl<strong>and</strong>is thought unequal<br />

we, therefore , present that, for the future , all money be raised<br />

in this county according <strong>to</strong> the deficiency of the year's value.<br />

Killmeen church <strong>to</strong> be repaired.<br />

Fo. 32 eodm. an. That John Lang<strong>to</strong>n, esq., Clerk of the<br />

Crown, deliver the rolls of presentments of this county, made<br />

at the assizes for these six years last past, <strong>to</strong> Mr. Hull, the<br />

County Receiver , <strong>to</strong> be by him fairly engrossed , <strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong> redeliver<br />

them <strong>to</strong> Lang<strong>to</strong>n aforesaid.<br />

Cullen <strong>and</strong> i\ ohoval . Wt hereas the several parishes following,<br />

of Kilmeen , Drishane. Drunitariffe, Cullen , <strong>and</strong> Nohoval, in the<br />

county of <strong>Cork</strong>, <strong>and</strong> diocess of Aghadoe , have agreed that the<br />

churches of Kilhineen <strong>and</strong> Dryshane be rebuilt , &c. ; we, therefore,<br />

have agreed that 6s. 6d. per plowl<strong>and</strong> in Dryshane, Cullen,<br />

<strong>and</strong> Nohoval , be raised for repair of church of Dryshane,<br />

&c. ; <strong>and</strong> that 4s. 6d. per plowl<strong>and</strong> be raised in the parishes of<br />

Killmeene <strong>and</strong> Drumbarry , for rebuilding the church of Killmeene.<br />
