A Family of ‘Superheroes and Villains’
Jessica, Johnny and Gemma, with their winning water pistols.

Goroke P-12 College is now the owner of a 12 seater bus that will be used by the school
to pick up students from Natimuk and beyond if they would like to attend our school. We have
had a few enquiries from Horsham families and have decided to make the investment to keep
our school population numbers healthy and growing. The school is still looking at costs and a
few parents have asked if there is room, can their child catch the bus after school to Horsham
and that will be a definite possibility once we have worked out fare charges.
Hopefully everyone has noticed the new paint job on the Primary wing of the school.
David Loffler worked hard over the holidays to ensure it was finished, along with a number of
other projects around the school. It looks great, giving the building a real spruce up and also
now coordinates with our new library wing. Eventually, the secondary wing will also tone in to
coordinate the whole school together. We are fortunate here that, although our buildings are
ageing, our students look after the grounds and buildings and regular maintenance keeps our
school looking fresh and clean.
Congratulations to Holly who came home with a ribbon from the Little Desert Sports held
on Tuesday. Mr Charlton took 6 students to the championships and all students put in a top
effort against some pretty stiff competition.
Well done to Gage who has been fortunate to receive a Department of Human Services
Scholarship over the holidays. Also to Nikiesha who has been informed that she is a finalist in
the ABC’s Haywire student writing competition. Nikiesha has also been busy organising the film
night for Friday night at school as a fundraiser for the Deb Ball and it is a credit to her for all of
the hard work she is putting in to ensure that this night is a success.
Somers Camp students left this week for 9 days away, accompanied by Mr Wearne.
Feedback so far is that they are having a great time but everyone is a bit tired. David Hayden has
kindly offered to drive the school bus down to Somers for the visiting weekend and any parent
who would like to tag along, costs will be $25 per person which will cover fuel, tolls etc. If you
would like to take advantage of this offer, please contact the school by the end of the school day
on Friday. The bus will only run if a number of families want to use it. Departure times etc. will
be confirmed by David once we have final numbers.
Please don’t forget that we are approaching the end of the three year cycle of laptops for
a number of our secondary classes. Those students currently in year 9, 10 and 11 who elected
to lease their computers each term for 2 years in the initial stages of receiving their
laptop will be eligible to purchase their own laptop for $50 at the end of this year as per the
original agreement. Please contact the school if you believe your child would be eligible and we
will confirm your lease payments and organise for the sale at the end of the year. Laptops that
were not continually leased will be on sale for general purchase at prices to be confirmed.
Students will have the opportunity to purchase their own and the rest will be available for public
purchase at the end of the year.
Tara, who runs the canteen for the students every Tuesday, has informed the school that
she is unavailable to do canteen next year. If there is anyone in the community who may be
interested in taking this role over, please contact us at the school. Many thanks to Tara for the
many hours she has committed to the canteen to make sure our students have the opportunity
to buy lunch each week.

We also wish our School Council President, Clare Robertson, all the best for
her National Masters Hockey Championships to be held in Alice Springs
next week. Congratulations on your selection Clare and good luck in the
heat of the outback!
Goroke P-12 College Parents Club
The Parents Club had a busy 3 rd Term!
The School Athletic Sports were held and Parents Club provided a BBQ
lunch which also included free fruit and a selection of slices (which the
students made with Ms. Clarke). The Fathers Day stall was also held.
Another bag of Pauls Collect-a-Caps has been sent away. This fundraiser will
conclude at the end of the year – so keep on collecting! There are collection
boxes around the town (at the Post Office, IGA store and the
Newsagency – as well as at School) – please keep them coming in - it’s a great
fundraiser.
The Parents Club held a meeting on September 17th and from this meeting
have allocated funds to various sections of the school. The funds allocated
include the purchase of a new skeleton, microphones, deep fryer, Magna
Bender, Epson short throw projector and some sand pit equipment.
These items will benefit students from Prep through to Year 12.
Fundraising for 4 th Term will be the end of year raffle at the School Concert
(prizes this year will be the Scratchie Tree and there will also be a second
prize!).
Spinosaurus
A Spinosaurus has a colourful spine, strong
legs, stripy tail, big head, red arms,
colourful body and big eyes. The
Spinosaurus is a spiny lizard and is a
carnivore. It runs very fast on two legs.
Ben
Dinosaurs
My dinosaur has teeth and it is tall
and it has spikes. Because the T
Rex is the biggest in the world it
is not a good dinosaur. It is
terrible!
Jasmine

Ankylosaurus
It has a long tail and it has a spikey
head and it has silver spikes and its
name is Ankylosaurus.
Paddy
Stegosaurus
A stegosaurus has armour.
Its armour is sharp. It has
bony plates on its back. I
made a fossil mould of a
stegosaurus with play dough.
Ichthyosaur
This is a ichthyosaur and it lives
in water. When it became a fossil
it showed its big eyes. It looks
like a dolphin with sharp teeth.
It eats little fish and it has four
fins. I made a mould fossil of an
ichthyosaur.
On Friday the 14th of September we went to the sandpit and dug for dinosaur
bones. Christine took photos of the bones.
To dig up the bones I used a little brush and a big brush, shovels and a rake.
We made a make believe dinosaur. I put the ribs, legs and some of the spine on.
I had a good time being a Paleontologist.
T-Rex
A T-Rex has big feet and it has smaller
eyes. It has an enormous head and
sharp teeth. It has a little brain and it
can eat meat. A T-Rex can eat other
Beau
Brachiosaurus Fossil
It has a yellow skull, orange spine, pink
tail bone, blue ribs and white leg bones.
There are two bones in his legs and it has
rocks. Palaeontologists dig up the fossils.
Susan
My dinosaur is colourful. It has
green, red, blue, yellow, purple and
pink body parts. My
dinosaur is a plant
eater. It runs because
it has long legs. It is a
These dinosaurs are made from play
dough. I made all the body parts.
Tori
Triceratops
My Triceratops has horns and it has big
legs. It has a frill and a long tail. It has a
mouth that can open and shut. Its back
is flat and I made it with four cardboard
cylinders and three cardboard boxes,
two I had to cut. I put a little bit of play
dough inside the cardboard box. I used
a stick to make the head move. I made
its horns from paper.
Caitlyn
Dinosaurs
My dinosaur has a colourful pattern on the legs
