Established by Billie Richey Wonders in memory of her parents<br />

because of their love for the Lord, His church and<br />

Christian education. Qualified recipients would be fulltime<br />

junior or senior business majors with GPA 3.0 or<br />

higher who demonstrate current or past work history that<br />

shows they are committed to providing part of their own<br />

financial support.<br />

WILLA MAE RICHTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />

FUND: Established by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Barr in memory<br />

of Mrs. Barr’s mother to provide financial assistance to<br />

worthy students.<br />

GEORGE M. ROBERTS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />

FUND: Provides financial assistance to a deserving senior<br />

who has financial need.<br />

HERBERT AND BETTYE ROBERTSON SCHOLAR-<br />

SHIP FUND: For a financially deserving White County resident<br />

who is achieving a satisfactory academic record.<br />

HARVEY AND AMY ROBINS ENDOWED SCHOLAR-<br />

SHIP FUND: Established to financially assist full-time<br />

theatre majors.<br />

SARAH ROBISON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP<br />

FUND: Created by her husband in honor and memory of<br />

Sarah Robison, who was a dorm mother when Sears Residence<br />

Hall, then the “New Girls’ Dorm,” was opened. Sarah, who<br />

had a love for the young women, served as dorm mother for<br />

five years. Preference for this scholarship is given to young<br />

women who demonstrate financial need. Also, preference is<br />

given to young women in need who have been in a children’s<br />

home supported by members of the Church of Christ or congregations<br />

of the Church of Christ, daughters of preachers<br />

of the Gospel, and daughters of missionaries.<br />

LAWRENCE AND VERNICE RODERICK ORPHAN<br />

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established to<br />

assist deserving students with special consideration given to<br />

orphans. Awards are based on need, scholastic ability, diligence,<br />

and industriousness.<br />

ROLLER FUNERAL HOMES ENDOWED SCHOLAR-<br />

SHIP FUND: Established by the Roller family of Little<br />

Rock, primarily for students from Arkansas.<br />

CHARLES ELLIS ROOKS MEMORIAL ENDOW-<br />

MENT FUND: Established in memory of Charles Ellis<br />

Rooks by his mother and the <strong>University</strong>’s Board of Trustees<br />

and administration. This fund is for faculty salaries, development<br />

and enrichment and for scholarships to students,<br />

based on need.<br />

SUE ROPER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />

by Sidney Roper in loving memory of his wife, Sue<br />

Roper, to provide financial assistance to deserving students.<br />

KENNETH ROSE SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />

by the family and friends of Kenneth Rose to honor his memory<br />

for students exemplifying his qualities. Students must<br />

be entering their senior year, having completed at least<br />

three semesters at <strong>Harding</strong>.<br />

L.O. SANDERSON MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP: Established<br />

to honor L.O. Sanderson and to assist upper-class<br />

music majors who have a 3.0 GPA, have financial need, and<br />

are actively involved in vocal church music.<br />

JEANETTE POMIER SCHUMACHER AND<br />

SUZANNE POMIER STARK MEMORIAL SCHOL-<br />

ARSHIP FUND: Established to provide scholarships to<br />

nursing majors with the greatest need.<br />

STANLEY S. SCHWARTZ, M.D. ENDOWED SCHOL-<br />

ARSHIP: Created by Mrs. Stanley S. Schwartz in memory<br />

of her husband. Scholarship recipients will be students<br />

majoring in premedicine and have demonstrated financial<br />

need and shall maintain a satisfactory grade point average<br />

and a good reputation among faculty and students.<br />

GLADYS SETLIFF CHANCELLOR’S ENDOWED<br />

SCHOLARSHIP: Established in memory of their mother<br />

by Mark and Susan Wallis and Levon and Gail Deputy. This<br />

fund is for students who pursue a degree in education,<br />

business administration or engineering.<br />

ANN RICHMOND SEWELL AND EDWARD G.<br />

SEWELL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />

by Mrs. Edith H. Richmond, mother of Ann Sewell,<br />

to honor the Sewells for their many years of service on the<br />

faculty at <strong>Harding</strong>. Awards are made on the basis of need,<br />

scholarship and capability.<br />

ROBERT ELMER AND IONA LENORE SHACK-<br />

ELFORD BIBLE SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />

by their son, Dr. Don Shackelford, to honor their memory<br />

and assist students majoring in Bible, Biblical languages,<br />

or missions.<br />

ARTHUR L. SHEARIN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP<br />

FUND: Established for senior students majoring in music<br />

education who exemplify a commitment to scholarship,<br />

proven performance, prospects for successful teaching and<br />

financial need.<br />

HERBERT R. AND KATHERINE A. SHERROW JR.<br />

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established by<br />

Herbert R. and Katherine A. Sherrow for the critical need<br />

of the continuation and growth of the Church and to develop<br />

effective, Bible-based pulpit ministers. The Sherrows<br />

established this fund to encourage and assist students in this<br />

goal. Those students enrolled in the Center for Advanced<br />

Ministry Training-BMIN preparing to be a full-time minister<br />

of the Gospel qualify for this scholarship, with first preference<br />

given to students preparing for a pulpit-preaching<br />

ministry.<br />

DEWEY SHIRLEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />

by the family of Mr. Shirley to provide scholarship aid to junior<br />

or senior students majoring in Bible.<br />

MR. AND MRS. FORREST SHMIDL SCHOLARSHIP<br />

FUND: Established for full-time students majoring in Bible,<br />

Biblical languages or religious education.<br />

DR. CATHLEEN SHULTZ SCHOLARSHIP FUND:<br />

Established by her husband, Dr. Sam L. Shultz, for students<br />

majoring in nursing.<br />
