quality assurance activities and reports the results of its efforts. Another important task
is the facilitation of interdisciplinary and inter-institutional cooperation. The formation
of QA teams at the regional level will greatly facilitate in handling this work.
The training on Quality Assurance and Standardization was planned in three phases.
The first phase of the training was conducted with help of external assistance. The
participants included only the in charges / heads of the sections of the health facility.
The second phase of the QAS training is being conducted at each health facility
including all the health professionals, administrative and support staff too, not
disturbing the daily routines of the facility.
The third phase of the training would be focused on the BHUs, which will be starting
soon after the completion of the second phase.
Monitoring the progress of the implementation of the training and the development of
the national QA & S support structure, which is already in place.
This monitoring will assess the performance of the QA&S system both in terms of
process and out come, that is in the operation of the QA&S system and the
improvements made across the districts and referral hospitals in quality indicators,
particularly those related to the national priority quality issues.
This will compare base-line measures of quality indicators for the priority issues with
the same indicators 3 years later.
Statistical analysis of changes in average values for district quality indicators and
analysis of variation between districts will be conducted. In this way it will be possible
to me;sure whether the gap in performance between poorer and stronger districts
reduces in time.
