Hanover Education Foundation Hosts<br />

8th Annual Bowl for Education<br />

Scooby-Doo (Cyndee Blount, Julie Colarusso, Brad Davis, Kathy MacLaughlin, Ray Heatwole)<br />

Best Dressed Runner-Up went to The Hanover Center for Trades and Technology for The<br />

Clampetts (Vince D’Agostino, Justin Roerink, Casey Owen, Zarnesha Aaron, Sandra Knuckles)<br />

Best Dressed Honorable Mention went to Kersey Creek Elementary School for the Smurfettes 1<br />

& 2 (Donna Smith, Carrie Johnson, Melissa Lowder, Susan Walsh, Sandy Dacus, Lee Lythgoe,<br />

Esther McDermott, Shannon Tiller)<br />

On Saturday, January 22, <strong>2011</strong>, forty-six teams representing<br />

every Hanover school, the Hanover County School Board,<br />

Hanover County Fire & EMS, several local businesses, the central<br />

office, and the Hanover Education Foundation (HEF) gathered at<br />

the AMF Hanover Lanes on Bell Creek Road to “Bowl for Education.”<br />

The HEF raised over $17,700 to support grants and scholarships for<br />

Hanover County students and teachers.<br />

The first place trophy went to the team from Hanover High School,<br />

The Hanover Hawks (Randy West, Bobby Stratton, George Sadler,<br />

Leslie Simmons). The second place trophy went to The Supply Room<br />

Companies, We Supply Strikes (Clyde Johnson, William Quarles, David<br />

Stearrett, Lamair Wilkerson). The third place trophy went to Atlee High<br />

School, Rolling Raiders (Jen Cohodas, Scott Csoke, Lowell Lantz, Erik<br />

Leise). Chip Tuck, from Rural Point Elementary School, received the<br />

trophy for highest score in a game for a male, and Jennifer Lenz from<br />

Washington Henry Elementary School received the trophy for highest<br />

score in a game for a female.<br />

This year’s costume theme for the tournament was Favorite TV/<br />

Cartoon Family. Best Dressed Runner-Up went to The Hanover Center<br />

for Trades and Technology for The Clampetts (Vince D’Agostino, Justin<br />

Roerink, Casey Owen, Zarnesha Aaron, Sandra Knuckles), and Best<br />

Dressed First Place went to South Anna Elementary School for The<br />

Flintstones and Scooby-Doo (Cyndee Bount, Julie Colarusso, Brad<br />

Davis, Kathy MacLaughlin, Ray Heatwole). Best Dressed Honorable<br />

According to Margaret Hill, Executive Director of the HEF, everyone<br />

thoroughly enjoyed the event. “Thanks to all of the business support<br />

we received this year; this was the best tournament we have had,” said<br />

Ms. Hill. “It’s always great to see folks having a good time at an event<br />

that benefits our students,” she said.<br />
