1830s. Of twenty-nine such instruments, seventeen come from the Munich workshops of<br />

the Saurle family and Andreas Barth, two were built by Joseph Schneider in Regensburg, and<br />

one was made by Barth’s pupil Dominicus Leicher in Augsburg. Five instruments come<br />

from the workshop of the Swiss family Hirsbrunner, as does probably one more instrument<br />

that is signed only with the initials J.H., and finally, one was built by Christian Wilhelm<br />
