Another hot day and no rain. Tractor still in the patio and will
for several days. Couldn't fix the tire; have to buy a new one. Won't get'
until Friday and this is Tuesday. Boris is doing beautiful job, of course, 0

August 4, 1960
Areal storm halted work on the wall. It's almost finished. I we
to Taos yesterday to see about getting Boris's work in another galle
Realites is interested but wants to see more and also to see Boris. So
have to go back tomorrow. Another day away from the house and Bo .
has to leave next week for Illinois for a month. He's hoping to get the bi!

We couldn't imagine what was going on. Streams of people all dress
up, walking down the road toward town-looking so happy and festivi

Half of Alto Street must be on welfare. Then the bill collectors start stre
ing down the street, knocking on closed, quiet houses that had been sh
ing with noise and activity a few moments earlier. The rain on the wal
has made them a beautiful dark color with the shining gold straw.

The gallery took several of Boris's things. Mrs. Kennedy is v,
nice, and I think it's a good place. We came back the Truchas road; it Wi
beautiful. Had another look at the wonderful mud work they do so we
