膠 囊 內 視 鏡 檢 查 是 利 用 吞 服 式 內 置 無 線 攝 錄 機
的 膠 囊 , 進 行 無 痛 內 鏡 消 化 系 統 攝 影 , 以 評 估
隱 性 出 血 、 腹 痛 、 貧 血 等 消 化 道 問 題 。
膠 囊 內 視 鏡 是 怎 樣 施 行 的 ?
檢 查 時 , 病 人 須 吞 服 一 粒 附 有 內 置 攝 影 功 能 的 膠 囊
(11 毫 米 x 26 毫 米 ); 膠 囊 經 過 消 化 道 時 , 會 拍 攝
腸 內 情 況 , 把 彩 色 影 像 傳 送 到 貼 在 病 人 腹 部 的 接 收
器 , 並 記 錄 於 記 錄 儀 上 。 記 錄 儀 會 用 腰 帶 掛 在 病 人
的 腰 部 , 因 此 不 會 妨 礙 病 人 的 正 常 活 動 。
一 般 來 說 , 膠 囊 在 胃 內 停 留 約 一 小 時 , 而 經 過 小 腸
則 要 三 個 半 至 四 小 時 。 腸 胃 科 醫 生 亦 須 用 兩 小 時
審 閱 所 接 收 的 影 像 。
為 什 麼 要 施 行 膠 囊 內 視 鏡 檢 查 ?
膠 囊 內 視 鏡 檢 查 能 幫 助 醫 生 診 斷 一 些 復 發 性 或
持 續 性 , 但 又 經 其 他 診 斷 方 法 仍 找 不 到 原 因 的
症 狀 , 如 : 腹 痛 、 腹 瀉 、 流 血 或 貧 血 。
膠 囊 內 視 鏡 檢 查 前 有 什 麼 須 要
預 備 ?
1. 檢 查 前 一 天 , 須 作 腸 道 準 備 。
2. 接 受 膠 囊 內 視 鏡 檢 查 前 八 小 時 不 可 飲 食 。
3. 你 的 腹 部 會 被 貼 上 接 收 器 , 再 接 駁 記 錄 儀 , 並 用
腰 帶 掛 在 腰 部 。
4. 依 指 示 飲 用 少 量 清 水 吞 服 膠 囊 。
5. 吞 服 膠 囊 後 , 須 繼 續 禁 食 兩 小 時 。
6. 依 醫 生 指 示 , 方 可 開 始 流 質 飲 食 。
8. 依 醫 生 指 示 , 便 可 恢 復 正 常 飲 食 。

9. 檢 查 當 日 , 須 記 錄 飲 食 及 活 動 的 情 況 及 時 間 。

結 果 ?
檢 查 完 畢 後 , 專 科 醫 生 會 審 核 所 有 接 收 的 影 像 。
一 般 來 說 , 膠 囊 將 隨 大 便 於 二 十 四 小 時 內 排 出 並 棄 置 。
膠 囊 內 視 鏡 檢 查 有 什 麼 禁 忌 症
及 危 險 ?
1. 由 吞 服 膠 囊 至 其 排 出 體 外 前 , 不 能 接 受 磁 力 共 振
檢 查 或 接 近 磁 場 。
2. 如 病 人 體 內 置 有 心 臟 起 搏 器 , 可 在 特 別 安 排 下
接 受 檢 查 。
3. 已 被 診 斷 為 小 腸 狹 窄 病 者 , 須 視 乎 個 別 情 況 方 可
接 受 是 項 檢 查 。 若 膠 囊 由 於 腸 道 梗 阻 而 不 能 自
行 排 出 體 外 , 可 能 須 用 內 鏡 或 手 術 除 去 。
7. 八 小 時 後 , 接 收 器 、 記 錄 儀 及 腰 帶 會 被 除 去 。

The capsule endoscopy (CE) system utilitizes
a wireless swallowable video camera to perform
painless endoscopic imaging of the intestine
especially in the evaluation of obscure bleeding,
anaemia, abdominal pain.
How is Capsule Endoscopy
performed?
The CE is a 11mm x 26mm capsule (Vitamin-pill sized)
that encases a digital camera, light source, batteries,
and a transmitter. Natural peristalsis moves the capsule
smoothly and painlessly throughout the gastrointestinal
tract. Colour images are taken and transmitted to a
recording device worn on a belt by the patient.
It takes approximately two hours for a gastroenterologist
to review the series of images produced. The capsule has
a gastric transit time of approximately one hour and a small
intestinal transit time of three and a half to four hours.
Why is Capsule Endoscopy
performed?
Capsule Endoscopy helps your doctor determine the
cause of recurrent or persistent symptoms such as
abdominal pain, diarrhea, bleeding or anemia, in most
cases where other diagnostic procedures failed to
determine the reason for your symptoms.
How should I prepare for the
procedure?
1. Bowel preparation the day before examination.
2. Do not eat or drink for 8 hours prior to the examination.
3. The Sensor Array will be attached to your abdomen
with adhesive pads and will be connected to the Data
Recorder which you will wear in a belt around your
waist.
4. Ingest the capsule with a small amount of water.
5. Do not eat or drink for 2 hours after the ingestion.

7. After 8 hours, the Data Recorder, Recorder Belt and
Sensor Array will be removed.
8. Resume normal diet as your physician advises.
9. Patients should keep a timed diary related to eating,
drinking and daily activities on the examination day.
What happens after Capsule
Endoscopy?
The images acquired during your examination will be
downloaded to a workstation for physician review.
The capsule will usually be eliminated through a
normal bowel movement within 24 hours of ingestion.
The capsule is discarded after use.
What are the risks of Capsule
Endoscopy?
1. You should not have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging
(MRI) examination or be near an MRI device.
2. Patients with pacemakers can have the examination
with special cautions.
3. Patients with known small bowel stricture may not be
suitable for capsule endoscopy. If the capsule is not
excreted naturally due to bowel obstruction, it will
need to be removed endoscopically or surgically.
6. Resume fluid intake as your physician advises.
