Celebrating
Celebrating <strong>the</strong> Holidays
Hugh Chatham Employees, along with <strong>the</strong>ir children,
made a great showing at <strong>the</strong> 2010 Elkin Christmas Parade. Since
2010 marked <strong>the</strong> 100th Anniversary of <strong>the</strong> Yadkin Valley railroad,
<strong>the</strong> parade was given a train <strong>the</strong>me. In keeping with this year’s
<strong>the</strong>me, <strong>the</strong> employee team created “The Hugh Chatham Express”.
Reminiscent of <strong>the</strong> children’s book and movie, The Polar Express,
<strong>the</strong> clever employees created a float to look much like <strong>the</strong> familiar
movie scene. Complete with Dr. John Venus as <strong>the</strong> conductor and
<strong>the</strong> children wearing pajamas, <strong>the</strong> participants tossed logo hot
chocolate packets into an eager crowd.

Celebrating Distinguished
Achievement
The national healthcare accrediting
body, The Joint Commission, issued
its gold seal of approval to Hugh
Chatham’s clinical stroke care program
in November. The distinguished
award, called Primary Stroke Center
Certification, recognizes that Hugh
Chatham has undergone rigorous
performance measurements, clinical
training, and provider collaboration
to foster better outcomes for stroke
patients. At a celebration dinner held in
<strong>the</strong> Hospital Main Lobby in January,
Executive Director of <strong>the</strong> North
Carolina Stroke Association, Beth Parks,
told guests that nationally recognized
stroke care in a community hospital
proves dedication and quality among
<strong>the</strong> staff. Hugh Chatham’s Certified
Primary Stroke Center holds <strong>the</strong>
distinguished achievement of being
first in its region.
