The Primary Stroke Center at Hugh Chatham has achieved <strong>the</strong> Joint Commission’s Gold
Seal of Approval. This national certification recognizes <strong>the</strong> center’s efforts to foster better
outcomes for Stroke Care.
To achieve this distinction, <strong>the</strong> Primary Stroke Center has demonstrated a high level
of quality care, treatment and performance measurements, including compliance with
<strong>the</strong> clinical practice guidelines of <strong>the</strong> American Heart Association, and <strong>the</strong> American
Stroke Association.

Recognize The FAST Signs of a Stroke
Face: Ask <strong>the</strong> person to smile. Does one side of <strong>the</strong> face droop?
Arms: Ask <strong>the</strong> person to raise both arms.
Does one drift downward
Speech: Ask <strong>the</strong> person to repeat a simple phrase.
It <strong>the</strong>ir speech slurred or strange?
Time: If you observe any of <strong>the</strong>se signs, call 911 immediately!
