At HCMH, we have been recognized among <strong>the</strong> first facilities in North Carolina to achieve Stage 1 Meaningful Use Certification as defined by <strong>the</strong> federal Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act. This certification acknowledges <strong>the</strong> hospital has put into practice extraordinary measures and training that includes implementation of Electronic Health Record technology, better coordination and communication between health care providers, patient reminders for preventative care, enhanced privacy and security, and o<strong>the</strong>r requirements that include lowering patient costs. feaTURE Information Technology Department Ranked #1 Self-Motivation & Enthusiasm of Staff Cited Among Reasons Healthcare IT News has ranked HCMH’s IT department as <strong>the</strong> #1 Small Hospital IT Department for 2011. Managed by Lee Powe, <strong>the</strong> nine person staff was selected by <strong>the</strong> publication for its dedication to <strong>the</strong> overall health of <strong>the</strong> hospital’s patients, its positive attitude, productivity and professionalism. That’s an impressive feat given <strong>the</strong> challenges that tight deadlines and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction can pose on <strong>the</strong> team on a daily basis. The IT team’s dedication is also a major contributing factor in helping <strong>the</strong> hospital realize <strong>the</strong> federal government’s Meaningful Use Certification. Without this group’s efforts, implementing Electronic Health Record technology would not have been possible, which was a critical component for <strong>the</strong> hospital to receive this certification. HCMH Receives Award from Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare has awarded <strong>the</strong> hospital <strong>the</strong> program’s 2011 Annual Media Award. The Crossroads Board chose <strong>the</strong> hospital for this award based on <strong>the</strong> efforts <strong>the</strong> staff has made to ensure that patients and visitors to <strong>the</strong> hospital have access to information about <strong>the</strong> services available through Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare. Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare serves <strong>the</strong> citizens of Iredell, Surry and Yadkin counties who need professional help for mental health, developmental disabilities or substance abuse treatment.
