ON-CAMPUS PROGRAMMES
Classes and seminars are held at Heriot-Watt’s state-of-theart
campus on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Students therefore
have access to the full range of facilities available within the
University.
Classes maximise the opportunity for student participation and
facilitate the School’s innovative teaching techniques. Particular
emphasis is placed on student-centred activities, case studies
and computer-based learning – most notably, the School’s own
high-quality software and management simulations.
SELF-STUDY PROGRAMMES
Many thousands of busy professionals have found that they
do not have the time to accommodate the schedule of a
standard business school programme. The self-study MBA and
MSc programmes are specifically designed to be intellectually
demanding and rigorous programmes that can be studied at a
time, place and pace of the students choosing.
Each subject-based course within each programme is entirely
self-contained, assumes no prior knowledge and can be
studied independently of the other courses in the MBA or MSc
programmes.
All courses will focus on a specific aspect of business, and
will show how to apply the skills learnt to the student’s own
organisation. Each course uses a combination of applied
content, self assessment with full feedback, fully worked-out
sample examinations, computer profiling and access to Faculty
web-boards to equip the student with the necessary skills and
knowledge to pass the examination and to apply the learning
in the world of work.
Self-study students can elect to attend the four-day teaching
seminars, and two-day revision seminars, that EBS holds
on campus (for an extra fee). In 2010/11 over 180 distance
learning students came to these events in Edinburgh.
