Positive Pressure Supplied Air Respirator
(PP SAR)
Activity
Supplied air respirators combine the full facepiece style of
regular SCBA but without the constraints of a backplate,
harness and cylinder. A hoseline delivers an air supply to
the user’s facepiece and maintains it at a positive pressure.
The user receives the benefits of a full facepiece PP SCBA
without having to carry the air supply. It also can provide
an almost limitless supply of air. Air line systems can be
connected to large cylinders or cylinder switching systems,
where the supply can be switched from one cylinder to
another when the first cylinder becomes low.
