Ensure that you know the correct address where the interview will be held and that you
know the interviewer’s name
Arrive early but not too early, eg. 5-10 minutes early is fine
When you first meet the interviewer ensure you give a firm handshake and make eye contact
Ensure you maintain eye contact throughout the interview (but don’t stare)
Check your body posture, sit upright in your chair but in a relaxed posture. Don’t cross your
arms or slouch
Try to give your answers confidently and in a positive voice. If you are nervous, acknowledge
that with the interviewer and then try to forget about your nerves. If you are really nervous,
don’t forget to breathe, shallow breathing will set up an automatic response in the body
which will result in you feeling more nervous. Remember to breathe down into your
abdomen.
Don’t smoke before interview, it can be very off-putting to the interviewer if they are a nonsmoker
Don’t take a coffee in with you to interview, it’s not a good look
Dress professionally to promote the right image
