DRASH shelters come in six different series and 45
different models that are interconnectable to create
various types of footprints that are flexible enough to
allow for multiple applications. Additionally, ten
DRASH UST Trailer models, power distribution units,
heaters and lighting systems provide enough flexibility
to configure your DRASH systems according to
your needs.

The basic DRASH shelter design consists of a frame
with two pre-attached covers and a ground cover.
This means that setting up the shelter does not
require special tools or dealing with loose parts. The
double layer of fabric also provides a naturally
temperature-controlled environment even without
environmental support. The shelter’s frame is
comprised of pairs of struts that connect at key points
in the framework called hubs. These hubs allow the
shelter to be pushed up and out with no locking
devices for quick set up or take down. Additionally,
six different series of shelters in 45 models ranging in
size from 109 – 1,250 square feet mean that DRASH
shelters can be interconnected to increase or
decrease an overall structure’s footprint.
The DRASH shelter’s extreme durability can mostly
be credited to the advanced technology of its various
components. Titanite , which makes up most of the
shelter’s frame, is an aerospace composite with
superior structural properties that have been
independently tested to be 270 percent stronger than
aluminum for the same diameter and cross sectional
area. XYTEX ® is a specially coated fabric that is fire
retardant, mildew resistant, water repellent and is
highly resistant to abrasion and ultra violet rays. All
cover fabrics include blackout in the visual and near
infrared spectrum and meet Mil-Standard requirements
for soft-walled shelters.

The DRASH Utility Support Transport (UST) Trailer is
an integrated support system designed to provide
mobility, power, and/or environmental control to
DRASH shelters. Designed to operate in all terrain
acceptable for military vehicles and to track behind
military vehicles, DRASH UST Trailers conform to
established “safe for transport” criteria by the Military
Transport Management Command (MTMC) as
suitable for “secondary and unimproved roads” and
sealift transportability. Many trailers are also certified
for air transport aboard select military aircraft.
Select UST Trailer models include Genset outputs
ranging from 5 to 33 kW and/or 5, 8 or 12-ton
Environmental Control Units (ECUs) with an
integrated strip heater. Those models with ECUs
include one or two supply ducts and one or two
return air ducts per unit, which are designed to attach
to any DRASH shelter at designated points, providing
a light-tight, weather-tight air seal. Additionally,
some trailer models use Intelligent Power Technology
(IPT), a digital smart system that allows for
increased efficiency.
DRASH UST Trailers have been formally tested at
the Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) in Maryland and the
Nevada Automotive Testing Center (NATC) to meet
all relevant U.S. Military standards for UST trailers.

To enhance the capabilities of the Warfighter, DHS
Systems offers shelter support products that include
power distribution unit (PDU) boxes, fluorescent
lighting systems, wiring packages and portable
heating systems.
DHS Systems also offers accessories, options and
spare parts to enhance every mission capability,
including connectors, curtains, stake sets, plenums,
vinyl windows and doors and trailer deployment
packages.
Additionally, the company’s lightweight communications
equipment offers a portable communications
solution by fusing multiple feeds of information into
single or multiple displays.
Installation of any DRASH support product or accessory
is quick and easy, and spare parts are always in
stock. All products include a warranty and are
supported by training, continuous technical support
and rapid delivery of spare parts.

As part of the Army’s Standard Integrated Command
Post System (SICPS) DHS Systems’ Trailer
Mounted Support System (TMSS) in cooperation
with Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Command
Post Platform (CPP) provide high mobility tactical
operations centers that can be rapidly deployed for
command, control and communications on the
battlefield.
Utilizing the DRASH shelter and UST trailer design,
SICPS TMSS Medium and Large Systems combine
shelter, utilities, power, environmental control and
tactical mobility to form a complete command operation
center.
Set up within minutes, the DRASH SICPS TMSS
Medium provides more than 442 square feet of
usable space, includes a 5 Ton ECU, and allows for
the use of up to 18 kW of power.
The Large System provides more than 1,120 square
feet of usable space, includes a 12 Ton ECU, and
allows for the use of up to 33 kW of power. Both
systems are completely towable by military vehicles
and have been tested to maintain ambient temperatures
in climates ranging from -50° to +131° F.
Because it is part of the Army‘s SICPS Program, the
TMSS Systems are required to meet all Army
requirements for command post systems and have
undergone and passed extensive testing at the
Army's Aberdeen Test Center.
DRASH SICPS TMSS Systems are currently being
fielded to all U.S. Army maneuver brigade combat
teams, including units in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The TMSS is available through the Army’s SICPS Program, or sold as a
shelter and trailer combination through DHS Systems. ZLIN numbers and
NSNs are available for both systems.

Part of the Army’s Standard Integrated Command
Post System (SICPS), the DRASH Trailer Mounted
Support System (TMSS) Medium is a complete
shelter system that provides more than 442 square
feet of usable space for command, control and
communications on the battlefield.
The SICPS TMSS Medium System measures 26.6
feet long and 18 feet wide, and includes two end
sections that can be removed to add additional
center sections to increase the total length of the
shelter.
It is packed on to a HMMWV-towable DRASH trailer
that provides mobility, 18 kW of power and a 5-Ton
Environmental Control Unit to cool the inside of the
shelter.
The SICPS TMSS Medium System can easily be set
up within minutes of arrival at a new location with no
more than four people and does not require any
assembly or special equipment to either erect or
strike.
Operational in extreme weather conditions, such as
blowing rain and high wind, the SICPS TMSS
Medium System is also able to sustain ambient
temperatures of +40°F to +87°F when subjected to
extreme high and low temperature ranges of -50°F to
+131°F.
The TMSS Medium is available through the Army’s
SICPS Program, or sold as a shelter and trailer
combination through DHS Systems.
ZLIN numbers and NSNs are available.
Part of the Army’s Standard Integrated Command
Post System (SICPS), the DRASH Trailer Mounted
Support System (TMSS) Large is a complete shelter
system that provides more than 1,120 square feet of
usable space for command, control and communications
on the battlefield.
The SICPS TMSS Large System measures 51.4 feet
long and 31.33 feet wide, and comes with either a
regular end section or optional maintenance door.
It is packed on to a FMTV-towable DRASH trailer that
provides mobility, 33 kW of power and a 12 Ton
Environmental Control Unit to cool the inside of the
shelter. The trailer also provides the means to set up
or take down the shelter via an inflatable air bladder.
To erect the shelter, the trailer is tilted so that the
shelter can be positioned above a low pressure air
blower and bladder, which pushes the shelter up
from below. The entire process takes less than 40
minutes and requires a minimal number of experienced
personnel.
Like the Medium, the SICPS TMSS Large is also
operable in extreme weather conditions, such as
blowing rain and high wind. It is likewise able to
sustain ambient temperatures of +40°F to +87°F
when subjected to extreme high and low temperature
ranges of -50°F to +131°F.
The TMSS Large is available through the Army’s
SICPS Program, or sold as a shelter and trailer
combination through DHS Systems.

DRASH shelter systems are the most technologically
advanced shelter systems available today, incorporating
multiple patents and undergoing thorough
testing for its shelters, trailers and support equipment.
DRASH shelters have been tested for rain, wind,
temperature, durability, blackout and snowload at the
Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) in Maryland and meet
all Mil-Standard requirements for soft-walled shelters
(see chart on opposite page).
DRASH UST Trailers and their components have
undergone rigorous testing at both ATC and the
Nevada Automotive Testing Center (NATC), and
have met military criteria during environmental,
transportability, electromagnetic interference (EMI)
and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) testing.

DHS Systems is a $210M military shelter manufacturing
company that began in 1984 in response to a
request to build quickly-deployable, lightweight
military field hospitals. By 1997, the company was
awarded both GSA and DSCP military contracts.
Since then, DRASH shelters and trailers have been
used extensively by all branches of the U.S. Military
and by the armed forces of Australia, Austria,
Germany, Israel, Japan, Norway, Singapore, Spain,
Turkey and the United Kingdom.
Non-Department of Defense customers include the
FBI Hostage Rescue Team, Crisis Response Unit
and Evidence Recovery Teams, the Department of
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the National Disaster
Medical System, and many Federal and State
government offices in the United States. Currently,
more than 17,000 shelters and over 7,500 trailers
have been deployed worldwide with U.S. and NATO
Forces.
DHS Systems has two primary facilities. Its
headquarters and 110,000 square foot shelter manufacturing
facility are located in Orangeburg, New
York (20 miles south of West Point). A 130,000
square foot facility in Huntsville, Alabama serves as
its trailer and communications equipment manufacturing
facility as well as its technical support and
customer service headquarters. Other regional
support facilities are located throughout the United
States and around the world.
