Labeling Requirements and Implications for Foods Marketed in the U.S.
December 4–5, 2012 | Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel
Arlington, Virginia

Advance Program
If even only a portion of your role revolves around policy and regulations, this event is designed
with you in mind. IFT’s Food Policy Impact conference brings government, legal, consulting,
academic, and industry professionals together for knowledge exchange on food policy-related
issues. After just one day, you’ll walk away with a practical understanding of current and
emerging food policy, and how to comply with regulations.
Who should attend?
Regulatory affairs, food policy professionals, and government officials, as well as professionals involved in:
• Product Development
• Supply Chain Management
• QA/QC
• Legal
• Marketing
Why food policy?
Establishing food regulations and standards is critical to ensuring the safety and quality of our food supply.
Sound, actionable public policies are essential to achieving sustainable food safety and nutritional improvement.
Policy adherence hinges on food professionals’ ability to establish compliance practices within their organizations.
Why Food Policy Impact?
Food Policy Impact stands out from the rest based on our:
• Relationships with Government Agencies—IFT and its members have a strong working relationship with
governmental officials. Our partnerships aid in ongoing industry-government discussion and collaboration.
• High-quality education—Our content is not only current, but comprehensive and forward-thinking.
The average 2011 Food Policy Impact session rating was 4.25 out of 5.0 (5.0 being excellent).
• Breadth of focus—Content isn’t limited to the U.S. In 2011,
we included presentations on Canadian and European Union law.
In 2012, we have sessions planned on Canadian Regulatory
Modernization efforts; interpreting varying country and
governing body standards; navigating trade agreements,
both current and those up for revision; and more.
• Member-driven content model—Our Advisory Panel,
made up of industry professionals, attorneys, consultants,
regulatory affairs specialists, government representatives,
and food policy academics, develop our program. They
analyze the food policy landscape, from marketing to
food safety to labeling, and select the topics of greatest
relevance and interest to food policy professionals.
• Balanced policy perspectives—Our Advisory Panel selects
a diverse range of speakers to provide expert opinions on
each topic. Through this approach, attendees gain a
perspective on multiple views surrounding each issue.
In 2011, speakers hailed from government, PR agencies,
law firms, policy consulting firms, and consumer advocacy
groups. We’ve incorporated the same blend in 2012.
