Services include brown bag food programs. Proof of income is required. There are no geographic restrictions. The program provides a bag of groceries that contains a five day supply of canned and dried goods. However, clients must meet eligibility and income limits to be eligible for these services. The program provides intake for Project Angel Food's home-delivered meals in the Antelope Valley. Meals are delivered once a week; meals are provided for three times per day for seven days. Proof of HIV/AIDS status is required. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH Staff speak English only; Spanish interpretation is available. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information. Lancaster, CA 93534 (661) 940-5272 (Service/Intake) (661) 940-5274 (FAX) [Fax] Service Types: Occasional Emergency Food Assistance, Ongoing Emergency Food Assistance, Formula/Baby Food, Soup Kitchens SERVICE DESCRIPTION The program provides emergency food for people who live in the Antelope Valley, including homeless and undocumented people. Special program hours are provided for people who speak only Spanish. Services include occasional emergency food assistanc; ongoing emergency food assistance, formula/baby food as available, and a soup kitchen. Services are restricted to Antelope Valley residents. A bag of groceries contains enough canned goods, staple food items, bread and pastries to last for 3 or 4 days. People may also enroll in an ongoing food program and receive a bag of food every 4 or 5 weeks. The bag may contain baby food, formula and diapers if needed, and on occasion, personal items such as toothpaste may be available. Baby food and diapers may also be available during the week if supplies permit. Assistance for people who are homeless include food which does not require cooking. The hot meals program offers services from two locations. Meals are served four days per week and people may receive services as often as need. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Walk in to apply for emergency food. Enrollment in the ongoing food program requires attendance at a one-hour orientation meeting, at which food distribution procedures and requirements are explained. ID for the head of the household (CADL or photo ID) and social security numbers or Medi-Cal cards for children are required. The application form requires that people list their source of income, however, proof of income is not required. Individuals must also bring a piece of recent mail that verifies applicant lives in the Antelope Valley. Walk in for the meals; ID is not required. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
