Did you know…
Popcorn is one of the oldest forms of corn thought
to be about 5,600 years old.
Archaeologists in Peru found ancient kernels of popcorn
in tombs that were so well preserved they can still pop.
During the Great Depression, popcorn was so cheap
at 5–10 cents a bag, that as other businesses failed,
the popcorn business thrived and became a source
of income for struggling farmers.
In popcorn jargon, a popped kernel of corn is known
as a ‘flake’.
