The piano faculty encourages all prospective piano majors and
concentrations to audition in Cincinnati whenever possible. As an
alternative, students may audition at the CCM regional auditions in
Interlochen, LA and New York. Recorded auditions via getacceptd.
com/ccm are accepted only from students who are not currently
living or studying in the continental United States. Please see page 19
different style periods, choosing works that best represent their
capabilities with regard to musicianship and technical facility. One
of the three works must be a complete sonata by Haydn, Mozart,
Beethoven or Schubert. The entire audition will last approximately
15 minutes for MM applicants and 20 minutes for DMA applicants.
Piano – AD
A personal audition in Cincinnati is required.
This program is for the student in the final stages of preparing
for a performance career; audition repertoire should be chosen
Applicants may audition in Cincinnati, at a regional site, or or by
recorded audition (please see page 19 for uploading instructions).
Applicants should be prepared to perform two contrasting
solos. One selection should be a major piece from the “classic” repertoire
(e.g. Maurice, Glazounov, Creston, Ibert). Scales, arpeggios
and sight reading may be requested. The BM saxophone curriculum
is flexible and may consist of classical study exclusively or a
combination of classical and jazz study. A jazz selection is optional
for the audition. See jazz studies for more information on the BM
in jazz saxophone.
solos. One selection should be a major piece from the
“classic” repertoire (e.g. Ibert, Dubois, Desenclos) and one selection
should be a piece written after 1980 (e.g. Lennon, Bolcom,
Albright). Scales, arpeggios and sight reading may be requested.
Ensemble excerpts are optional. The MM and DMA saxophone
Strings – Performer’s Certificate
Cincinnati audition is preferred although applicants living outside the
US may upload a recorded audition to getacceptd.com/ccm (please
see page 19 for uploading instructions).
Repertoire requirements are similar to those listed under each
instrument. The expected level of performance accomplishment
exceeds that of BM students since the performer’s certificate is
limited to those select students who seek a solo performance
career. The audition selections should include the following styles:
Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary. One of the works
should be a major concerto.
