Editorial
Dear business associates,
After two difficult years the world economy is once again
picking up speed. Overall economic indicators are looking
increasingly positive. The dynamic macroeconomic
development of the years 2007-2008 is particularly moving
forward in the so-called BRIC countries. Most European
countries, too, are experiencing a turnaround. It is to be
hoped that the raw materials markets can be further
stabilized with regard to prices and delivery times, thereby
setting a solid foundation for stable and sustainable growth.
Crises not only contain risks, they also offer opportunities,
the greatest of which is the opportunity to implement change.
Changes in business can be achieved in a variety of ways:
through products and technologies, markets and marketing,
internal procedures and productivity. Those who can see crises
not only as threats, but first and foremost as opportunities for
improvement and implementing changes faster than usual,
will emerge from these crises stronger. As simple as this
ancient wisdom may sound, it can be difficult to put it into
action.
We at KALTENBACH, too, had to cope with a drop in turnover
in the double-digit percent range in 2009. Since the second
quarter of 2010, though, things have been picking up sharply.
All of our production sites are now working to capacity once
again, and our orders currently on hand reach well into 2011.
In the past few months our development department has been
able to hire additional personnel. Because of this we will be
able to introduce a total of seven new products to the market
this year.
One of our greatest challenges this year has been the
acquisition of the Gietart Company in Hengelo, The Netherlands.
We have been working for ten months now on integrating
the new shotblast and painting business unit into our
group of companies. This step represents a great opportunity
for us to further extend our market position as a system
provider in the area of sectional and plate steel processing.
You will find all the current topics in the edition before you
that are of concern to our customers and the KALTENBACH
Group. The integration of the Gietart product area of shotblasting
and painting is the main focus of the edition at hand.
I hope you enjoy browsing through and reading this issue!
With best regards,
The New KALTENBACH Home Page
Find instead of searching!
The Kaltenbach Group has given
its web presence a complete makeover.
Since the beginning of August,
the website at www.kaltenbach.
com has been presented in a new
design format with a contemporary
mix of information and interaction in
both German and English. Even the
home page itself provides a comprehensive
overview of the variety
of information available here.
The home page at www.kaltenbach.
com welcomes visitors to a virtual
environment that uses animation to
invite them into the world of
metal processing and which reflects
the broad range of products and
services offered by KALTENBACH.
Users can quickly get to product
details or any other information
desired via a drop-down menu on
the left of the screen, in addition to
a main navigation bar in the header.
The corporate colour turquoise
against an elegant gray metallic
background dominates the modern
page design. “Find instead of
searching” was the project team’s
maxim, in order that users could get
to their objective in just two or three
clicks. Preliminary feedback from
customers indicates that this
feature is working well. The range
and depth of information available
on the product pages are systemised
using subnavigation
(Machine, Features, Technical Data
and Infeed/Outfeed Side). You
can find the information you desire
with only three clicks, despite the
added layers. For those who prefer
to have a hard copy in their hands
brochures can be printed out. In
addition, various processes have
been animated and are graphically
displayed in numerous video clips.
A “Product Finder” has been
integrated into the main navigation
area so that visitors can quickly and
easily select the right machine from
KALTENBACH’s extensive product
portfolio. After entering just a few
www.kaltenbach.com
parameters the user has access to
the entire KALTENBACH machine
database and is presented with a
tailored product pre-selection.
As a further highlight for circular
and band saws, KALTENBACH
have had a Working Range
Configurator program written.
A machine operator can easily
and interactively check to see
whether the material to be cut can
be processed with a specific saw
blade or saw band and the desired
mitre angle.
“With the relaunch of www.kaltenbach.com
our position on the
Internet now better relates to the
current business activities of the
KALTENBACH brand,” says CEO
Valentin Kaltenbach, who is very
pleased with the new website. The
KALTENBACH website receives an
average of 30,000 page views per
month – an impressive number that
demonstrates its high user value.
