A Change of the Date for Esther Day 2010 Observance
The statewide observance of Esther Day 2010 will be May 23, 2010. Pennsylvania is the
host for the 129 th Annual Session of the United Supreme Council, Ancient and Accepted
Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Prince Hall Affiliation, Northern Jurisdiction, in
Philadelphia, the last weekend in May, which is the reason for the date change.
Proper Dress for O. E. S. Sisters on All Occasions
Article XXXIV of the Constitution and By-Laws of Deborah Grand Chapter (page 62),
provides the description of proper regalia of the Order. This Article also states, under
Section 1 (e), the actions of the Marshals when a Sister is not wearing the proper regalia.
Please note, the Grand Assistant Marshals will exercise this duty during the 94 th Annual
Grand Session of Deborah Grand Chapter, July 19 - 21, 2010. They will ask you to leave
the Grand Chapter Room, correct the clothing discrepancy and return to Session.
Unfortunately, if this happens to you, I humbly ask that you not express your feelings to
the Grand Assistant Marshals, but at the proper time, discuss the matter with me.
I also ask that we are mindful of our attire when attending social functions and
meetings. Plunging necklines and splits above the knee is not appropriate dress for a
Sister in the Order, whether regaled or at a social function. When we were granted the
permission to wear slacks to non-regaled events, there were restrictions; pant suits,
jacket and slacks or sweater sets with slacks are acceptable. Slacks with a
top/blouse/sweater, sweats, jogging suits or jeans are not permissible.
