In the C15 ACERT engine, a combination of combustion technologies including more
advanced control of fuel delivery and air management, together with new combustion
chamber design, leads to the more complete combustion of fuel and, as a consequence,
the development of higher power density, better fuel economy and lower emissions –
properties which are among the most critical to purchasing decisions in this highly
competitive part of the marine propulsion marketplace.
“The C15 engine with ACERT Technology is a very exciting new engine for Caterpillar,”
says Jeff Greener, Caterpillar’s Global Pleasure Craft Manager. “The 3406E, one of the
cleanest and most advanced engines in its class since its introduction in 1996 has been an
extremely successful engine in the marine marketplace and the new C15 has a great deal
to live up to. Having said that, with its greater power density, lighter weight and ACERT
Technology, we are very confident that Caterpillar will be first choice for owners and
builders who are looking for the ultimate in performance in the 865 mhp (634 bkW)
power range.
“Our customer-focused approach to marine engine development is paying off and we will
continue to listen to the needs of the marketplace as we develop new solutions, new
ratings and new engines in the future.”
