As <strong>Caterpillar</strong>’s newly appo<strong>in</strong>ted Global Pleasure Craft Manager Jeff Greener expla<strong>in</strong>s,<br />

<strong>the</strong> new <strong>3500C</strong> eng<strong>in</strong>es, <strong>the</strong> latest <strong>in</strong> a family which has been <strong>the</strong> driv<strong>in</strong>g force beh<strong>in</strong>d<br />

<strong>in</strong>dustries such as fish<strong>in</strong>g, offshore supply, ferries, tugboats, crew and supply boats, short<br />

sea cargo vessels and custom (mega) yachts around <strong>the</strong> world for more than a decade, are<br />

now reach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> po<strong>in</strong>t where <strong>the</strong>y are viable contenders for larger plan<strong>in</strong>g hull yachts<br />

above 120’ as well as <strong>the</strong>ir more traditional displacement and semi-displacement<br />

applications.<br />

“The new <strong>3500C</strong>-HD family presents opportunities for shipyards and yacht-builders to<br />

achieve higher eng<strong>in</strong>e performance with lower costs, They provide more power for a<br />

variety of vessels and configurations, deliver<strong>in</strong>g typically 20% more power with no<br />

additional weight or eng<strong>in</strong>e footpr<strong>in</strong>t for displacement and semi-displacement hulls. With<br />

a tw<strong>in</strong> eng<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong>stallation now offer<strong>in</strong>g up to 6870 mhp for tw<strong>in</strong> eng<strong>in</strong>e applications at<br />

our highest rat<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong>se eng<strong>in</strong>es can also offer top quality plan<strong>in</strong>g hull propulsion power<br />

for larger yachts.<br />
