Increased flexibility
and economic viability for
GSM communication
The widely successful Skalar family has been
extended by a cost-effective end device for data
communication via GSM/GPRS.
Along with functional extensions the device is
distinguished by the three interfaces CL1, RS232
and RS485, which are available “on board”.
The price/performance ratio has been
considerably enhanced by the new addition to
the Skalar family.
The Skalar is the specialist for a homogeneous
measuring field and its scalability enables it to
support all concepts for modern energy data
communication.

The proven Skalar platform has been valuably extended by
the Skalar basic in terms of flexibility and operating efficiency. If
you wish to connect your measurement devices via CL1, RS232 or
RS485, the Skalar basic is the perfect solution as it features all three
interfaces. The signalling input can also be used to trigger internal
processes. Due to the free programmability, practically no limitations
have been placed on the applications.
The intense cost pressure for automatic meter reading means that
every saving potential should be exploited and that starts at the
measuring point. At the same time however, investment security is
the order of the day. The Skalar family is tailor-made for this, the
products have been specially developed to collect consumption
data flexibly for every sector and will assist you in providing the
data reliably and punctually.
The liberalised energy markets demand that more and more data
are available in shorter cycles, so in addition to classic meter reading
via the control station (PULL operation) the decentralised data
provision (PUSH operation) is increasingly supported, whereby the
metered values are relayed by file transfer from the measuring point
via FTP. GÖLITZ AG developed the LCM concept several years ago for
the PUSH operation which, under the name of Least Cost Metering
presents the most economical alternative to the classic connectionoriented
data transmission.
A device that supports both the tried and tested as well as
contemporary reading concepts is the only choice for existing and
future installations. The functionality of Skalar basic can be extended
via Java applications and customised to specific requirements.
