August <strong>2012</strong>. <strong>PAIWG</strong> members are encouraged to apply for the next intake.<br />
2.5 Since the transition to government qualifications (launched March <strong>2012</strong>), 45<br />
trainees across the sector are undertaking a government traineeship. <strong>PAIWG</strong><br />
members are to utilize networks and further promote the Government<br />
Traineeship Program.<br />

2.6 To build on the success of the Supervising Talent Program, PSC will consider<br />
hosting further intakes.<br />
3.1 PSC Update:<br />
Aboriginal Employment Strategy – Intake 2 (metro) of the Aboriginal<br />
Traineeship Program commenced and advertising for the regional roll out in<br />
Kununurra and Broome has begun. Currently in the process of developing a<br />
mentoring program for Aboriginal leaders in the sector.<br />
Royalties for Regions – secured funding to roll out 6 elements around building<br />
the capacity of the regions (see new items for more information).<br />
Graduate Leaders Development Program – launched in February with 35<br />
graduates completing the program in June. The second intake commenced in<br />
<strong>July</strong> with 33 graduates. As part of the program, graduates can opt to undertake<br />
core units of a Certificate IV in Government.<br />
School-Based Traineeship Program – currently recruiting for the 2013/14<br />
program, commencing in February 2013. This will be the first intake to<br />
undertake a Certificate II in Government.<br />
Common Use Arrangement (for Registered Training Organisations) –<br />
establishment of this CUA is well under way. Michelle Raymond, Manager<br />
Workforce Capability, is evaluating the tenders for this CUA. Once the CUA is<br />
available agencies will be able to engage an RTO without the need of going<br />
through a Request for Quotation process.<br />
Foundations of Government Human Resources Program – the Pilot program is<br />
underway with 24 participants scheduled to finish the Program by October. A<br />
second intake commenced earlier this month and a third intake will commence<br />
in October. On completion participants will achieve a Certificate IV in<br />
Government with a Human Resource focus.<br />
Strategic Directions - a midpoint review has been conducted. Agencies have<br />
advised PSC of new initiatives implemented in response to Strategic Directions.<br />
An analysis of the findings is underway, but preliminary results show that around<br />
1000 new initiatives have been implemented which will be shared with the<br />
sector.<br />
