marked grave <strong>in</strong> the cemetery is that of Marion Green who, four<br />
months old when she died, was buried on March 11, 1903.<br />
The earliest adult <strong>in</strong>terment was M<strong>in</strong>nette Levy, born <strong>in</strong> Alsace<br />
and died July 2, 1906. In the 1960s and 1970s, Max<strong>in</strong>e Goldberg<br />
Seal oversaw the cemetery, car<strong>in</strong>g for it “like it was her baby.” At<br />
her death <strong>in</strong> 1983, a commemorative plaque was placed at the<br />
cemetery entrance cit<strong>in</strong>g her “everlast<strong>in</strong>g love and devotion” to its<br />
care. 148 Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance for the cemetery next fell to Buddy Sokol<br />
who had already overseen the cemetery’s future. When the temple<br />
was sold <strong>in</strong> 1974, Buddy, Roland Seal, Max<strong>in</strong>e’s husband, and a<br />
few others decided to use the money to susta<strong>in</strong> the cemetery. They<br />
turned the Care for the Cemetery fund over to Arnold Lefkovits<br />
who was by then a Birm<strong>in</strong>gham attorney. The use of the accrued<br />
<strong>in</strong>terest from this fund elim<strong>in</strong>ated the need for family assessments.<br />

Arnold Lefkovits detailed the events lead<strong>in</strong>g to the cemetery’s<br />
perpetual care and solvency. Sometime <strong>in</strong> the 1920s<br />
