years of experience in the industry,
stoking the ames of enterprise
within the students. The talks also
raised awareness amongst students
on local homegrown companies and
their importance to the Singapore’s
economy. The speakers promulgated
the notable features of their own
companies to the students, giving
them a brief but detailed overview of
what is in it for them if they join as
an employee. This spurred interests
among students, as many were willing
to consider a career with SMEs and
explore the many exciting possibilities
SMEs have to offer.
“Working in an SME can be
exciting and enriching with
exposure to young talents who
are hungry to learn and build their
work experience,” said Ms Chew
Mok Lee, Assistant Chief Executive
of SPRING Singapore. “We want
to encourage more of our young
local graduates from ITE and
Polytechnics to join SMEs as their
career option.”
Students were also introduced to
the SME Talent Programme (STP), a
study award launched in June 2013
by SPRING Singapore and managed
by ASME. Through STP, it aims to
attract and retain ITE and Polytechnic
graduates to join local SMEs.
The rst ever ASME-ITE Student
Entrepreneurship (AISE) Award
was also presented to the ve top
successful students from each of the
three ITE colleges during the Forum.
ASME Forum 2013: Talent & Career
created a great opportunity for SMEs
to gather and establish local brands in
the hearts and minds of the students.
The ASME Forum platform has lifted
the image of local SMEs, inspiring
entrepreneurship, and at the same
time, offers rewarding job opportunities
to local talents, ultimately benetting
both students and SMEs.
“As a collective voice representing
SMEs on a national platform,
we hope to continue to build the
ASME Forum up, so that in time
help elevate the importance and
awareness of our local home
grown companies,” said Mr Chan
