Brought up in Adelaide, Lucinda travelled
extensively as a child and as a young adult,
living in the UK and the Netherlands for six
years.
In 2003, Lucinda and her partner Sean
moved to Nillumbik, just before the birth of
their first child. Eager to become involved
in community life, Lucinda joined the
local LETS group and is still a member.
Experiencing a lack of support for a holistic
approach to pregnancy, birth and parenting,
in 2004, she co-founded Natural Parenting
Melbourne (NPM) Inc. Ass. - a Melbournewide
parenting support organisation that
in 2009, still has a wide membership,
encompasses about 12 playgroups across
Melbourne and publishes a quarterly
journal.
In 2005, Lucinda started a small retail
home-based business concentrating on
sustainable living products. In 2007, her
husband Sean left his job to join her and
they have successfully expanded their
business Going Green Solutions to a
shop-front in Hurstbridge. They service
a huge variety of retail and wholesale
customers ranging from members of the
local community who wish to live more
sustainably, to corporate businesses such
as the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition
Centre, Vue de Monde and Domaine
Chandon Winery.
Lucinda and her husband are also members
of a local folk band called One Lane Bridge,
which performs at various venues locally.
Locally, she was coordinator of the NPM
Hurstbridge playgroup for many years.
During this time she also co-founded the
Hurstbridge Organic Food co-op of which
she is still a committed member and which
today - five years on – still enjoys a steady
core group of about 15 groups.
