Media Release - Nurses Retreat - Waratah-Wynyard Council

Waratah-Wynyard Mayor Robby Walsh today released the results of community
consultation into future plans for Nurses Retreat.
“Council received about 60 responses into what should happen to Nurses Retreat
following the removal of trees in the area in February,” Mayor Walsh said.
“As part of the consultation, Council put forward three options, which were:
replanting with up to 10 pine trees, replanting with coastal species only, or a
combination of pine trees and coastal species.
“From the responses received it seems that the community supports the third option
overall, which will now go before Council for consideration.”
Mayor Walsh thanked all those who took part in the consultation and said he hoped
to finish up with something that everyone can be proud of.
The replanting, if adopted, will require approval as part of Council’s 2012-2013
budget process.
