2 Dear Collector Welcome to the August edition of Mint Issue and a special celebration of twenty years of the Australian dollar. A very interesting issue of Masterpieces in Silver has been developed that should appeal to a wide range of collectors. Possibly Australia’s favourite coin, the dollar, with the famous five kangaroo design, has been reproduced in silver at 40 mm as the feature of the set. Plus, we have a further enticement with the reproduction of three designs. These are the coins that quite possibly could have been a part of our currency. I am sure you will find them fascinating, with their unique shapes and designs. Collectors will also be extremely interested in the launch of our new Gold Series – Rare Birds. For this three-year series we have a very special offer where collectors will receive matching certificates and a stunning Jarrah case. An important issue though, are the themes for our Australian coins. These are carefully considered for the relevance to all of us as a nation. The issues facing our native wildlife, with shrinking habitats and dwindling populations are indeed serious for species such as the Cassowary, where fewer than 1 500 of these beautiful tropical birds remain.
