Five Kangaroos – Previously Unreleased
This intriguing coin is a combination of an original design submitted to the
Royal Australian Mint and the scalloped edge shape that was considered for
the $1 coin. A distinct Aboriginal influence can be detected in the scalloped
perimeter of the coin and in the design of the five kangaroos, while the
background of the artwork brims with life and energy.
Waltzing Matilda
This popular version of our $1 coin was first struck in 1995 to honour the
100th anniversary of Banjo Paterson’s famous verse. This enhanced restrike of
Vladimir Gottwald’s award winning design is a ‘must’ for any collection. This is
a coin that honours an important part of our cultural history with remarkable
sensitivity and character.
Dollar Decade
This special coin was first seen in 1994 and chronicles the transition made
by our one dollar denomination from original note form to the current coin
form. This detailed design was developed by Vladimir Gottwald and has been
enhanced for this 2004 issue by improved proofing techniques.
