This candidate will help shape the future of the orthopedic research section with substantial resources allocated from the LSU Foundation to build on the current biomechanics, biomaterials, and histology laboratories within the department. Besides the biomechanics laboratory, the biomaterials laboratory has developed tissue culture techniques to grow cartilage and bone cells to supplement research efforts. Within LSU Health Shreveport, the department has access to an AAALAC accredited animal research facility. In addition to independent research, this individual will be involved in the research training of orthopedic residents and interact with the orthopedic faculty. Orthopedic subspecialty interest in trauma related research is preferred. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with relevant postgraduate experience.
